tvr wins for me UB is a great album but it all lacks a clear direction what is the movement? I enjoy the interludes on tvr, the intimate feel. unbreakable feels a little conservative in comparison

yeah, but janet also cancelled on me in 2001 (uk ALL4U tour) and don't bother with that hollow excuse of "safety concerns" coz she went right ahead and added another leg in the U.S, the country under attack, and plenty of other artists carried on touring overseas.

what's also an embarrasment are the hundreds, possibly thousands of fans who are out of pocket due to this tour. Fans in Europe booked train, flights, hotels... that money was lost same is happening in the US now...!!!

Well travelled is probably my favourite track, followed by The Great Forever, Night and Lessons Learned. While I enjoy Damn baby overall, I find the voice or the way they have edited her voice to be a little, squeaky/whiney.. can't quite explain.

That's sort of what I mean, whether she raises the child as muslim or not doesn't really matter too much, though I think he/she should certainly be brought up familiar with janet's cultural background and have a good knowledge and understanding of the U.S. Will the child become a U.S citizen like his or her mother? I get the feeling that Janet becomes very influenced by the man she is with at the time, and I hope she doesn't turn her back on her U.S roots, like you say, all power of custody would go to him in their current country of residence.

also interesting to know is whether the child will be raised in Dubai as a muslim, and whether she will turn her back on her own cultural background in the U.S in favour of her husbands.

besides sheer laziness, what reason could there possibly be for not uploading the her video catalogue to youtube, either on her own channel or her vevo channel?

watching the video again I kinda feel bad for her, as I said earlier, starting a family is a happy decision for them both and if she wants a child nobody can deny her that. she asks that we "please understand" - she knows she's let us down big style this area - she says she will "continue the tour as soon as she possibly can" - which doesn't really tell us anything and she avoids telling us whether that will include Europe or not. I hope she does continue the tour at some point, after recording herself saying she will, if she doesn't, the backlash will be bigger than if she just say it's over. at least then people will know to move on.

first off, pregnancy or surrogacy or whatever, that is happy news so congratulations. but, wtf!? She took a fair amount of time and planning and effort, organsied a tour, dates, dancers etc in a professional capacity - she put aside a set amount of time for her work, her tour, now she's just doing something else bang in the middle of it all!? I mean, who does that!? Most people are not able to do that because their job simply would not allow them to start "planning a family" in the middle of a project, which also affects people like the dancers etc. Good for them if they want children, but this decision cannot have literally just occurred to them in the past few weeks, having a child is a conversation that lasts a fairly long amount of time before a decision is reached. Why is she so vague? "planning a family" what does that even mean? Why has she still not bothered to address the massive disappointment caused to fans in Europe? I honestly believe she will NEVER return to Europe on tour, and I am also fairly certain this is more or less the end of her touring in the states as well. If a baby comes along, the walls are going straight back up. It is certainly a more mature age to be having children at - when her son or daughter is 20 she will be 70!!! Good luck to her, but, I mean, terrible organisational skills!

my point was more that americans are literally obsessed with it. and from an outsiders point of view, it seems to cause deep serious issues in your society - i mean, the level of police violence and killings is unthinkable in Europe..

my bitterness about the diamonds comes from the fact that the diamond trade is rife with child labour, abuse and inhumane working conditions. Yet there she is selling them. She herself of course hasn't done any of the work in diamond mines, she's just reaping the profit from the stones mined by people lower down the chain. It's pure capitalism, and, to me at least, seems completely at odds with any message presented on Rhythm nation.

yeah I agree to a point - one of the reasons I really enjoy unbreakable as an album is that she's finally singing about something else. I remember saying to my friend when she announced a new album, that I really wasn't interested in another album full of songs about sex - so unbreakable didn't let me down! I guess you're probably doing the right thing, I don't think she wants us to be invested in her as a person, i think she sorta wants to cut herself off from the world, and even from her fans somewhat, with just the music for people who like her, but.. yano... LUTFA and all that. her life I guess.

to me, and I speak for myself and about myself, I would NEVER convert to any faith for a partner. Why does she have to convert? why can he not accept her as she is? why does she have to change such a personal aspect of her life? Why doesn't he change religion? and where is the strong sexual Janet gone? the janet i love tells her men that if they want her future, they better work it boy.... dno... having to become something before you can be someone is certainly nothing I would consider, not ask of anyone else.

I don't know. To me, and, it seems, to MANY others, it is very alienating. she sells products so expensive that the media cannot even report where/when they are being unveiled in dubai? it is literally for an elite group of people for whom money is NO OBJECT! it's just so sad, so many fans have lots non-refundable money from hotels/trains/planes etc and she doesn't even say sorry! where has the janet of social issues, equality, and fighting injustice gone? The Janet I fell in love with was more likely to write a song about the abuses in the diamond digging industry in africa, than sell the results of that industry to the mega rich. i know i've been really negative lately, but., when you're such a fan and you invest lots of time and you have an emotional connection to her music (esp. velvet rope) it makes me feel like.... like I'm following someone who doesn't exist any more I don't know who she is now

i really sat and thought about this whole cancellation mess and to be honest I'm done with her I'm done with her and her fur-promoting bullshit I'm done with her jewellery line where items cost over 1 million dollars I'm done with no explanation or apology for cancelling her show, when fans spent money on hotels etc, but performs for her rich friends in dubai. A jewellery line where items cost millions of dollars? Janet you've fucking lost the way - because they sure as shit are not aimed for her normal-wage fans (who she cancels on) Promoting fur coats!? does she skin the animals herself? no, of course not, that'd mean getting her hands dirty, the animals will have been skinned abroad, by people who receive an incredibly low wage, like in china for example, and then, she can ponce around in the "coat" and promote it to people with a price tag of thousands of dollars. Let's hope the diamonds in her jewellery line are more ethically sourced than the minks in the coats she promotes - because many diamonds come from war-torn areas where children as young as 9 are made to dig for them. I'll continue to enjoy her music, but i'm not following her and I won't invest a single pound/dollar etc in her or her shows again.

Yeah it is. Ticketmaster UK refunded everyone automatically. Ticketmaster France have told nobody about their devious little procedure - not on their website, nor their twitter nor their facebook. they are basically stealing from people, and what the fuck are they gonna do with a bunch of tickets for a cancelled show anyway?
