I feel like there’s tension (more so from Janet) between her and Beyonce. They were in the same building back during the hurricane and didn’t take a picture or speak. Janet takes a pic with Kelly (who accompanied b) but not Beyoncé. Just think it’s strange

I doubt Beyoncé would even go to Janet’s concert at all if there was tension. We don’t know if they took a pic or not during UB. They have met and just not taken a pic or they took pic and Janet’s team just never posted it. That wouldn’t surprise me considering Janet hardly engaged social media at all during that time. Obviously, this time a pic wasn’t taken because Beyoncé left early.

I found it odd that Lil Kim performed one of her least known songs as oppose to "Crush On You" (which I could see Janet loving that song by Lil Kim) ...

“Big Momma Thang” is easily one of Kim’s most recognizable songs in the hip-hop community. Any hip-hop head can recite the first verse word for word. And considering she name drops Janet in the song makes it very appropriate.

Alicia I get cause she covered Prince on her 1st album......but....homegirl was UBER new still in 04....that's....a damn mess & shame for both legacies.

Prince loved Alicia and spoke very highly of her skills as a musician on numerous occasions. He wanted her there.

Listen. I dont have an issue w/ Janelle the thing is..i thought it would be someone who played some part in her career and/or some prominent well seasoned figure in the world of entertainment. Like Austin said...a peer like Mariah...hell even a Stevie, an Elton, or even shit a Grace Jones. But im certainly not in here tryna be the "complaining stan" ...lol I was juss being vocal about me not being excited about Janelle. No biggie. Im more glad Janet is getting her day regardless.

Elton John sand Grace Jones have nothing to do with Janet. Stevie, I guess. But despite Janet saying so, I don’t hear his influence in any of her music, aside from a few samples. Mariah will induct Whitney, which would be much more appropriate than Janet.

One wonders what’s the strategy here with this unforeseen turn of events!!! Will Janet still be doing Glastonbury in Europe because those June dates conflict with that scheduling??? 😳😱🤔 I think she still might tour Europe with the new album but her European fans are already getting pissed by the lack of interest in performing there now. We will see!

But honestly, this residency sounds AWESOME tho! A bigger and more explosive budget with god knows how many costume changes, elaborate staging and pyrotechnics like her classic concerts!!! Also that 30th anniversary of Rhythm Nation portin of the show is unexpected and that alone makes me want to book my flight, ticket and hotel room today!!! 😳😱😍😆

There will be no residency dates in June. That article made a typo. The months are May, July and August.

Why am I not surprised this same member comes into a thread and has to ALWAYS play the role of the opposer? Its like a gimmick. The Dark Vader comes in to disagree with everyone to drum up debatable dialogue juss becus. Reminds me alot of Norman but more annoying. Not interested

That’s because most Janet fans on here are insecure and bitter, and I’m against that behavior. I don’t subscribe to the herd mentality of agreeing with everything posted on here in the name of Janet. And it’s DARTH Vader.🙄

When Paula said "audience" she wasn't correcting Janet cause her eyes weren't even on Janet to see where she was looking. She said it simply because that's the part where they look at the audience. Why do you come off as mad af about it?

They were in front of a dance mirror. Paula saw all of Janet’s movements. Janet was looking down until Paula corrected her and that’s when Janet looked up.

It’s all about execution of the movements and Janet looked like she getting the routine down rather well. I’m just saying Janet is a natural dancer like Paula and outshined her in this clip even tho she was still coming into her own as a performer.😉 No need for throwing insults boo, it’s as clear as day in the clip. Practice what u preach tho! 😊

Janet was still learning here. Janet is a quick learner, but she still made several mistakes throughout this sequence. Why would the choreographer go full out while still teaching someone the routine? Paula gave maybe 60% here. I just wish some of you fans would just accept that Janet was not always the great, polished dancer we see today. At some point she was still a novice. She was a novice here still learning at the foot of a more experienced dancer. It doesn’t diminish Janet, it’s just a fact.

Honestly, it was rehearsal n Janet was only tapping into her full potential at this point in her career. I mean, Janet gave me more here than Paula who was teaching her the steps, so....🙄🤨

Because she was the choreographer and watching Janet to make sure she did it right. Why would she go full out while still working with someone who didn’t have the routine down pat yet? How dense are you?😕

Did any of yall catch that Paula was too early on a part and Janet was right on time? How is the socalled "student" hitting the points  better than you?

I saw Janet mess up numerous times and having to be corrected by Paula. Janet started off with the wrong hand which is why she apologized and Paula said “it’s okay.” At 0:10 she wasn’t supposed to put both hands on her head, one was supposed to be on her hip, which is why Janet said “oh shoot.” At 0:30 Paula has to correct Janet by saying “audience,” meaning look at the audience when you dance. She was looking down while dancing which is one of the biggest no-nos in dance. At 0:42 Janet’s legs were too spread apart. The weight is supposed to be evenly distributed on both legs. That’s easily 4 mistakes Janet made in this one sequence. And when you look at the finished product you see how Janet listened to Paula’s advisement. Janet’s was literally 19 here. The arrogance to suggest she danced better than someone older and had been professionally trained for 20 years at that point.🙄

dayum bruh  there are some submissions I would never have considered and although its a "duet" I think "Scream" is more Michael's than Janet's IMO

Actually it’s more Janet. It was for his album, but it was her producers and Janet who created the track for Michael, Janet co-wrote the lyrics, Sony hired Janet to pick the director, which is why Mark Romanek was brought in and Janet outperformed him in the video. The track wouldn’t sound the way it does and the video wouldn’t have looked the way it did if it weren’t for Janet.

  12. No. Not even close. Stevie Wonder has 25 Grammys, an Oscar, Golden Globe, Kennedy Center Honor and the presidential medal of freedom. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Cher and Barbra Streisand are both EGOT winners and Kennedy Center honorees.

John Legend is also an EGOT winner.

I don’t want to concede but I’m also the person that acknowledges reality as well so be that as it may you made a ton of valid points I believe Janet just wanted to be taken care of when it comes to men it’s the little girl in her you cannot take that ageless wonder dare I say romantic away although I think she married Wissam for security

She wants to be taken care of because she never had much of a father to begin with. That’s why she seeks out men who inevitably end up dominating or controlling her in some way. That’s something she’s probably aware of and needs to contend with before she gets into another relationship or the cycle will just continue. Or God forbid, she’ll pass that down to her son the way her mother passed it down to her.

I’m sorry where did you get the info Janet loves to think she can change a man? I think that sounds a lot like conjecture but we will bypass that for now. Problem with your argument is your suggesting these men were all problems that need “changing” when Janet met them. I don’t think that was the case Janet loved Rene and they spent about 11 years together that’s probably longer than most relationships anyone on this board has. Next your argument assumes the men were open about who they were from the start and thus Janet’s judgments were poor, I think that’s very short sighted if Janet is as reckless as you’re suggesting she should have three or four babies all by different men. Janet loved JD clearly and they were together 8 years the end of that relationship was on JD after that I think it only made sense for Janet to seek out a strong secure man and she married for money she married up as we say. And it went south too but that’s not new in entertainment ain’t JLo on her third or second divorce with kids plural? The only stage Janet has left she hasn’t done is the hot young fuck toy.

Janet flat out said she tried to change James. And with René, the proof is in how long she stayed in releationships. Janet has a problem with keeping people around longer than they need to be. She’s loyal to a fault. It’s no coincidence that she decided to give René writing credits in 1997, and they were broken up by 1999. She was trying to save a dying relationship. There’s a reason she had him photograph her tour books and direct her videos. He had nothing else going on and she was trying to accommodate an insecure man who felt in the shadows of her. She shouldn’t have needed to do any of that and she was being enabling by coddling his insecurty. A woman who is 52 with three divorces and has yet to have a relationship that sticks is a red flag. That’s not all on the men. There’s some problems the woman has as well.

Well I agree with you on some aspect but we can't just assume these men were like this before Janet married them. I highly doubt Wissam was verbally abusive before Janet accepted his marriage proposal. I doubt any of the men were abusive before Janet married them.

James was a drug addict two years before she married him. She still chose to marry him. René was jealous and insecure years before she married him. And she even stated she was uncertain the day of the wedding, but still, she chose to marry him. She made bad decisions and though Eissa is a blessing, having a baby with someone like Wissam was not a good idea either. That’s why she’s in a messy situation now with Wissam and custody. Wissam may not have been verbally abusive before the marriage, but he was definitely controlling long before Eissa came along. The way Janet dressed and acted changed dramatically starting in 2013/2014. She should’ve gotten out then. Now that she has Eissa, she’s stuck with Wissam for life. And that’s not all Wissam’s fault.

I don’t honestly know where to begin deconstructing a post that paints Janet as “lazy” because you didn’t like the outcome. First let’s begin with the notion that Janet chose not to promote of her own volition or that you have evidence to support such a notion. Could it be dare I say that Janet was in the midst of managing a very volatile situation. Married to a Billionaire whom she would soon separate from entirely. Attempting to please fans and a husband that couldn’t resist putting his two cents in as to how she could look and who could perform on stage with her and who couldn’t. All of this culminating in what I believe was the last ditch effort to save a failing marriage....let’s start a family. My point here is I truly believe Janet wanted to get out there and do a lot more but her hands were tied and if anyone thinks she was being lazy look at how visible Janet’s been post divorce.

Janet has been in controlling relationships her entire life. Almost all of them have been. At some point, there has to be some accountability on the part of the person who continuously gets into relationships with controlling men. Especially of a woman who is 52 and on her third divorce. Janet chose to put herself in a subservient relationship. Unless she was just that naive not to see the writings on the wall when it came to Wissam. The man was a Muslim. What did she expect? Just like she shouldn’t have married a drug addict named James Debarge and an insecure nobody named Rene Elizondo, she shouldn’t have married a controlling man with a strict religious upbringing. But Janet loves to think she can change men once she marries them and that’s her biggest flaw and the reason why she’s on her third divorce. It’s not all on the men. Janet is just terrible at picking men and uses poor judgement in her relationships. This still has nothing to do with the fact that she was lazy during Unbreakable. Janet was a grown woman who supposedly was “in Control.” She could’ve been more assertive if she chose to. You all coddle Janet too much. She is older than most of you on here. Hold her accountable for once.

While I find both Beyoncé and Rihanna entertaining I think it’s important to qualify their achievements so that artists such as Janet and Madonna are placed within an appropriate context. Madonna and Janet have been in this business over 4 decades accumulating dance hits meanwhile female acts not seen as veterans and rightfully so flooded the market with song after song ad nausem simply because their “hot” and popular the penultimate metric again and again of any artist is standing the test of time. We are so quick to qualify Beyoncé and Rihanna as having surpassed veteran icons when they haven’t been solo artists even half as long. In short let’s delay this conversation for two more decades and see where they are then. :filenails:

What does any of this have to do with the fact that Beyoncé and Rihanna have more #1 dance hits than Janet? No one ever stated that they were better than Janet. But the question was asked and it was answered. Your insecurity is showing. It isn’t necessary.

I think Stevie Nicks is the shoe in here. Will they induct two women at the same time?

Either they’ll do one woman and the rest men or follow the same formula as last year. Two women and four men/male bands. No way they can’t induct at least one woman though. In this #MeToo era, the backlash would be swift. This actually would be the best time to induct two women at once due to the social climate we’re in tbh.
