  1. Rihanna to perform on American Idol Finale Rihanna will perform her latest smash hit “Where Have You Been” on the American Idol Grand Finale Wednesday, May 23 (8:00-10:07 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX, when the newest winner is crowned. American Idol will host the series’ two-night grand finale from the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE Tuesday, May 22 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) and Wednesday, May 23 (8:00-10:07 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. After weeks of performing on the American Idol stage, the two remaining finalists will perform live Tuesday in front of a theater audience of more than 7000 as well as millions of viewers watching at home. Then, on Wednesday night, at the end of a two-hour music celebration, host Ryan Seacrest will announce the next American Idol. With only three performance shows left in the season, tune in next week, Wednesday, May 9 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), when the Top Four – Hollie Cavanagh, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez – return to the IDOL stage to sing for America’s votes on a “California Dreamin’”-themed performance show. Don’t miss the live results show the following night, Thursday, May 10 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), when the Top Three finalists are announced and get set for their hometown visits to see family, friends and fans. In addition, global superstar and American Idol judge, Jennifer Lopez, will perform her hit new song, “Dance Again.” Season Seven American Idol winner David Cook also returns to the IDOL stage to perform “The Last Song I’ll Write For You.” “Where Have You Been,” from Rihanna’s Island Def Jam album “Talk That Talk,” released last November, is the artist’s latest single. Rihanna made Billboard history last year, when “We Found Love,” another single off of “Talk That Talk,” became her 11th No. 1 hit on the Hot 100 and her 20th Top 10 hit. She collected her 20 Hot 100 Top 10 singles faster than any other solo artist – six years and four months –and places second only to the Beatles. Additionally, “We Found Love” gives Rihanna her 16th No. 1 Billboard Dance single. American Idol is produced by 19 Entertainment, a division of CKX, Inc. and FremantleMedia North America. The series is created and executive-produced by Simon Fuller, CEO, XIX Entertainment, and executive-produced by Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO, FremantleMedia North America; Ken Warwick, Executive Producer, FremantleMedia North America; and Nigel Lythgoe, CEO, Nigel Lythgoe Productions. See what happens every Thursday when the show ends, but the cameras keep rolling, as the eliminated finalist says an emotional goodbye and exits the IDOL stage. 3. Rihanna’s “Battleship” Makes $170M BEFORE U.S. Release! Monday, April 30, 2012 From Forbes.com: “Battleship” is now up to $170 Mil worldwide without US release until May 18th. “Battleship,” Universal Pictures’ big summer entertainment, cost over $200 million to make. You know it’s cheesy and not very good, so why subject the studio to American reviews? Very wisely, Universal has been opening “Battleship” around the world in advance of its May 18th U.S. landing. And the result: already $129 million in the bank. And more to come. These numbers are from Boxofficemojo.com.

  8. Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’ Scores A Perfect 10 Atop Hot 100 Rihanna’s “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris, remains atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a milestone 10th total week at the summit. The song, which already represents Rihanna’s longest stay at No. 1 on the Hot 100, becomes one of just 11 boasting a solo female lead billing to have ruled for at least 10 weeks in the tally’s 53-year history. “We Found Love” is the first such leader since Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable” logged 10 weeks on top in 2006-07. Here is the complete list of songs by women to achieve strangleholds of at least 10 frames on the Hot 100 (including two tracks in which other acts share lead credit and one in which two women trade lead vocals): Weeks at No. 1, Title, Artist, Peak Year 16, “One Sweet Day,” Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men, 1995 (*the longest reign of any title in the chart’s history) 14, “We Belong Together,” Mariah Carey, 2005 14, “I Will Always Love You,” Whitney Houston, 1992 13, “The Boy Is Mine,” Brandy & Monica, 1998 11, “I’ll Be Missing You,” Puff Daddy & Faith Evans featuring 112, 1997 11, “Un-Break My Heart,” Toni Braxton, 1996 10, “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris, 2011 (to-date) 10, “Irreplaceable,” Beyonce, 2006 10, “Foolish,” Ashanti, 2002 10, “Physical,” Olivia Newton-John, 1981 10, “You Light Up My Life,” Debby Boone, 1977 “We FoundLove” maintains its Hot 100 dominance by spending a ninth week atop Radio Songs (150 million audience impressions, down 1%, according to Nielsen BDS), while slipping 4-6 on Digital Songs (140,000 downloads sold, down 24%, according to Nielsen SoundScan).
  9. ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG, BUT IT HAS A NEW FOUND SPECIAL MEANING TO ME NOW
  10. Oh, and Katy Perry's push for an unprecedented sixth Hot 100 No. 1 from her album "Teenage Dream" now faces a hurdle, as "The One That Got Away" falls to No. 6 after two weeks at a No. 3 highpoint. The song rises 4-3 on Radio Songs (110 million, up 12%) but tumbles 3-9 on Digital Songs (154,000, down 50%).
  11. Rihanna Renews ‘Love’ Affair Atop Hot 100 After a two-week respite, Rihanna’s “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris, returns to the Billboard Hot 100 summit (2-1) for a ninth total week in charge. The song, which already represents Rihanna’s longest residence at No. 1 on the Hot 100, matches Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK” in early 2010 for the longest time tallied atop the Hot 100 for any song since the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” racked 14 weeks on top in summer 2009. On Radio Songs, “We Found Love” rules for an eighth week (152 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS), granting Rihanna her longest reign on the list as a lead act, besting the seven-week domination of her “What’s My Name?,” featuring Drake, early last year. She also ties her longest stranglehold atop the chart overall, having spent eight weeks at No. 1 on Radio Songs as a guest on T.I.’s “Live Your Life” in 2008-09 and Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie” in 2010. On Digital Songs, “We Found Love” descends 2-4 with 185,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
  12. THAT PUSHES HER TOTAL VIDEO COUNT TO 2 BILLION VIEWS ON YOUTUBE!
  13. Rihanna Is The Biggest Selling Digital Artist Ever Rihanna has sold in the USA more digital tracks than any other artist. Black Eyed Peas are in number two spot but also hold the honor of having the biggest selling digital track to date with ‘I Gotta Feeling’. The list doesn’t include the tracks Rihanna has featured in. 15. Rihanna’s LOUD Tour is the 7th top grossing world tour of 2011 The annual Pollstar ranking of the concert industry’s top performing artists is out! Rihanna’s LOUD Tour is at No. 7 with: Gross: 90.0 million Average ticket price: 74.95 Average tickets: 15,395 Total tickets: 1,153,846 Average gross: 858,750 Cities shows: 78/99 Rihanna is behind U2, Take That, Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift, Roger Waters and Elton John. The tour consisted of almost a hundred arena dates this year, including a record-breaking 10 sold-out London O2 dates due to demand, Rock In Rio headliner, and her first stadium concert in Barbados. The tour, featuring over two dozen of her biggest hits, was acclaimed by critics and applauded by fans. Congratulations, RiRi!
  16. Rihanna receives award for 10-date run at The O2 in London It’s been a good run of concerts for Rihanna, who last night was awarded with a an award in recognition of breaking the record for the most sell-out dates at the venue by a female artist. Rihanna will have performed to more than 170,000 fans over 10 nights, beating Britney Spears who packed houses over eight nights in June, 2009, during her Circus world tour. Sally Davies, events director at The O2, said: ‘We at The O2 felt that this amazing record could not pass unrecognised and as Rihanna has spent so much of her time in London at our venue, we wanted to give her something to remember us by. We hope to see her here again very soon.’
  17. Drake Wants Video For Rihanna Duet To Be His ‘Best’ To Drake, Take Care is the story of a kid who goes from wide-eyed Toronto dreamer to rap royalty. But while Drizzy has painted that picture through songs on his sophomore set, the Young Money star hopes to roll out more visuals in support of the album’s narrative, and he has big plans for one video in particular. We’ve already seen “Marvins Room” and “Headlines,” the Lil Wayne-assisted “The Motto” is already in the can, and when MTV News caught up with him backstage at the Power 106 Cali Christmas Concert, Drizzy Drake revealed he’s set to shoot a clip for the title track with Rihanna. “It’s a project where I think visuals are called for, for a lot of those records,” he said. “So we’re working on definitely the ‘Take Care’ video, which we’re trying to get shot soon and a couple of other ones, too, off the album.” Drake, who can now hoist another platinum plaque for Take Care, wouldn’t dish on the treatment or concept for the video, but he has high expectations for it. “I want to make it perfect — the best video I’ve done to date — so I’m just taking my time,” he said. The Jamie xx-produced “Take Care,” with its pounding bass drum and sparse piano melody, tells the story of two lovers ready to leave behind their sketchy pasts in favor of a fruitful relationship together. Drake and Rih’s real-life fling (one the rapper addressed on 2010′s “Fireworks”) only helps to enhance the song’s appeal. Standing as both an endearing duet and a club banger, it’s the danceable, Gil-Scott Heron-sampling house build toward the end of the song that truly makes it a standout.
  18. Rihanna’s 2011 Accomplishments – Part 1 “That Rihanna reign just don’t let up”, a prophecy that holds truer than ever as we reflect on the last year in the superstar’s record-breaking career. 2011 saw Rihanna continuing to sell millions upon millions of albums, receiving a flurry of prestigious awards, dominating the airwaves with her smash singles, gracing covers of magazines around the world, embarking on a massive international tour spanning over a hundred cities, lending her iconic brand to several billion dollar cooperation campaigns, and still managing to find time to record yet another album filled with a collection of songs that have Rihanna fans gitty with excitement as to what 2012 can only bring. Rihanna has become the rare form of pop star that has managed the seemingly impossible act of, not only maintaining, expanding her popularity and quality as the years of her reign accumulate. Loud sold over 6,000,000 copies internationally propelled by it’s string of smash singles, acclaimed promotional performances, and critical praise. It is, to date, Rihanna’s fastest selling album to reach that sales bracket and the second best seller, of any artist, since it’s release. However, Rihanna was not about to milk the success dry from the project, and announced mid-year that she was working on her follow-up already. Talk That Talk was released worldwide in late November to an opening of over 500,000 copies sold — easily clearing her career biggest launch. Following, just two weeks later, Talk That Talk continued to break Rihanna records by becoming her fastest album to shift over a 1,000,000 units. Having sold a career total of over 26,000,000 albums bodes well with her retaining her lead as the most successful album’s artist since her debut over half a decade ago. With such a welcoming reception from the public, naturally came a new high of recognition this year from nearly every prestigious outlet in the music industry. The year began with a Grammy win for the lead single off Loud, “Only Girl (In The World)”, in “Best Dance Recording”. Rihanna performed twice that night, her five-time Grammy nominated collaboration, “Love The Way You Lie”, and her upcoming 2012 nomination, “What’s My Name”. The performances were met with rave reviews including Time Magazine calling for the “2011 Grammys be renamed: The Rihanna Show”. (The Grammy committee clearly took notice for the upcoming 2012 ceremony, as the recently revealed nominations include a nod in the highly coveted “Album of The Year” category for Loud.) Following the Grammys, she jetted across the Atlantic to attend the Brit Awards the following day, in which she won “International Female Artist of The Year”. Rihanna took to twitter to express her excitement to her fans: “Came with a Grammy, left with a Brit!!!” In May, we saw Rihanna kicking off the return of the Billboard Music Awards with a performance of her #1 single, “S&M”, with fellow pop star Britney Spears. She was awarded that night with “Female Artist of The Year”, based on statical success on their charts. She followed out the year with a series of wins including People’s Choice (Pop Artist, Song, & Music Video), American Music Awards (R&B Album), BET Awards (Female R&B Artist), and a Soul Train Award. Rihanna’s continuing success with hit singles this year lead Billboard to recently consider that Rihanna could soon potentially surpass The Beatles landmark #1 record. In this report they note that Rihanna is the fastest and youngest solo artist to achieve 11 chart toppers, both records previously held by Mariah Carey (the current leading solo artist in Hot 100 toppers). Additionally, she is only the fourth female artist to achieve as many following Mariah, Madonna, and Whitney Houston. In 2011 alone, Rihanna accumulated an additional two number #1s on the Hot 100 in “S&M” and “We Found Love”. The later has spent 8 weeks at the pole position, earning the title of not only Rihanna’s career longest #1 but the longest running #1 of the year. “We Found Love“‘s extended run also grouped her as one of only four other artists in Hot 100 history to have had three songs remain at #1 for at least seven weeks. Since 2010, Rihanna has spent 23 weeks at #1, and 76 weeks in the Top 10. Rihanna collected Top 10’s this year in “S&M”, “Cheers (Drink To That)”, “We Found Love”, and “Take Care” in the record-breaking speed total of 21 career titles. Rihanna also further extended her record of most Billboard Pop Song Chart #1’s in the chart’s history with 9 and Top 10’s with 19. Rihanna has sold more digital singles than any other artist in the US with over 60 million units sold. As with all Rihanna’s singles, the success of these chart toppers is not limited to the US. Rihanna leads the United World Singles Chart with over 22 million points for the year. “We Found Love” went #1 in 15 countries including a 6 week stay at #1 in the UK, becoming the longest running #1 of the year and the longest since her very own “Umbrella” in 2007. It was her sixth #1 in five consecutive years, a record unequaled by any other female solo artist. It also tied her with Madonna for most trans-Atlantic #1 singles. Adding to the series of extraordinary feats in the UK, she was the first female artist to ever top the singles and albums chart simultaneously with two different albums (Loud, Talk That Talk) and singles (“What’s My Name”, “We Found Love”) in the same year. The Official Chart Company later announced that she was the leading artist in single sales of the year, and second in album sales (behind Adele). She now ranks only behind Madonna in single sales for female artists and only behind Madonna and Kylie in #1s in the chart’s history. Another similar achievement was accomplished this year when “S&M” hit #1 in Australia, placing her only behind Madonna, Kylie, & Delta Goodrem chart toppers in their history. 2011 also saw Rihanna’s presence grow in quantum leaps outside the charts. Being cited by Anna Wintour, herself, as being one of the leading artists in fashion today, Rihanna made her long anticipated debut on the covers of both American and British Vogue. Italia Vogue named her Woman of The Year. Rolling Stone and Esquire Magazine both published their first cover featuring Rihanna and the later elected her “Sexiest Woman of the Year”. Rihanna also made returned visits to the covers of Cosmopolitan and Glamour Magazine. Further signifying the power of her brand, she was chosen to be the face of multi-million dollar campaigns for giants including Armani, Nivea and Vita Coco. The Barbados Tourism Authority also signed Rihanna to a multi-year contract to exclusively promote her hometown island giving her the title of Tourism Ambassador. Her signature perform was launched earlier in the year to such success, that she already has a sequel scheduled for release in 2012. Rihanna also was cast in a role in Peter Berg’s Battleship, of which she has been featured extensively in promotions for the film releasing in summer 2012. Last Girl On Earth Tour was still finishing up earlier this year, but that didn’t stop Rihanna from announcing her biggest and most successful tour yet, Loud Tour. The tours consisted of over a hundred arena dates this year, including a record-breaking 10 sold-out London O2 dates due to demand, Rock In Rio headliner, and her first stadium concert in Barbados. The tour, featuring over two dozen of her biggest hits, was acclaimed by critics and applauded by fans. Being a globe-trotting superstar hasn’t side-tracked Rihanna from continuing her efforts in Philanthropy however. In fact, she was honored at DKMS 5th Annual Gala for her tireless work in the fight against Leukemia. Social Media is another one of Rihanna’s fortes now. She has 47 million fans on the most popular social network, Facebook, becoming the leader of any artist. She has approximately 11 million twitter followers and interacts with them daily on a personal level unmatched by an celebrity of her stature. Rihanna is the most subscribed artist on Youtube with a total of 1.9 billion music video views on her channel (an additional 620 million if you include her official featured videos). On the popular music play-count service Last.Fm, she has the most unique listeners of any female solo artist, with over 3 million. According to Fame Count, she is the fastest growing artist on the web at the moment. It is through this mountain of success, acclaim, and support that it has become impossible for even Rihanna’s most belligerent of detractors, to ignore that Rihanna, at the age of only 23, has permanently ingrained herself a place in pop culture history. How does Rihanna go about dealing with this level of fame and increasingly high-level of expectation? She was quoted in Vogue, “When something feels real, you don’t have to make any apologies for it. When it feels good to you nothing else matters. Everything else is just noise.”
  19. “Talk That Talk” Becomes Rihanna’s Fastest Million Seller Rihanna’s new album “Talk That Talk” has sold over 1,000,000 copies worldwide just 3 weeks after its release! Week 1: 504,000 Week 2: 282,000 Week 3: 249,000 Total: 1,035,000
