"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the couple said in a joint statement to People magazine Monday (Feb. 24). The two married in June 2005 and welcomed their son, Julian, in 2010. News of the split comes after Thicke was photographed getting close to women other than his wife. In September, a socialite claimed she kissed the "Blurred Lines" singer after meeting at a VMAs after-party at 1Oak. In January, he was seen "dirty dancing" with a woman in Paris, FishWrapper reported. Thicke, 36, and Patton, 38, met when they were just teenagers. “I knew she was special the night I met her. I was only 14, but she was already the most special girl," he told Star magazine in September. “As a relationship progresses, you fall in love again in so many deeper ways. You realize that you need each other and you can’t live without each other." That same month, the actress gushed about her marriage during an interview with YourTango. "He loves me so much and the feeling is mutual," she said. "The best is when you love someone deeply and those feelings are equally returned. Also, Robin is really there for me. When times are good or bad or sad or happy or boring, just having somebody by your side to help you through means everything. I know I can count on him standing right next to me always." And I KNOW their marriage was open so I know cheating couldnt've been a factor, but eh maybe they got sick of each other, they been married for 9yrs but together for over 20. My bet is what killed it is what kills most open relationships (done wrong) when it's KNOWN and seen almost blatantly. Like how we've heard Will & Jada have 1 but we've never seen any of them groping another man (......or "women" for wi---well bothe of them LOL) in public, so with pictures of him kissing and groping and being seemingly intimate with girls all over the public and avail for her to easily see might've gotten to her. It was WAY easier for both of them to be open before Blurred Lines because both of them werent in the spotlight, and now that 1 of them is, the magnifying glass did some harm. Yea cause I look at it from the point of view I have with open relationships and how they'd work for me, we can be together you can hookup with anybody, but I don't want to visually see it or evidence, or if I do, I couldnt take there being ALOT of it and it in my face, thats what ruins that whole thing for me and most couples that do it. Yea I very much understand that side, it's why I'm open to it, & I've seen it work out for years and years (with 1 of my aunts & uncles), but it's almost more work than a monogamous relationship I think. Cause tho it takes alot of strength to be willing to share your partners body with others, you can't be THAT strong if you can't take seeing it being done behind your back (like what I couldn't take), but it takes alot of work and understanding. Hell like I said in the 1st place, they could simply just be sick of each other, cause he said for years that they FIGHT and they go through it, like all couples do, but it could just be a few fights too many. Yes, there relationship felt a lil "free" but imo Robin seemed to get a lil loose after blurred lines. That's when we started seeing photos of him all cozy ,cozy with other women which looked more than "friendly". Robin needs to just stop tryna win her back.
