Aaliyah - I Care 4 U :shifty:

2002 was a great year in music imo. But there was a lot of blurred lines between pop and R&B too (and had been for some years).

The album out of all those that I used the most was Jennifer Lopez'. It's her first album that I could listen to all the way through. Every single song was just perfect.

I didn't learn to appreciate Full Moon or Charmbracelet until later with them both being my faves out of all listed.

Justified, although a good album on the whole, never really interested me that much aside from the singles and Oh No What You Got. Ashanti's singles slayed but the album itself was just ok. 3D is a good album but not the best. The rest are all good especially India.

I don't know which album to pick tbh.

*Full Moon was a HUGE deal, we were waiting for that, I remember when What About Us dropped, it was GREAT and huge, I largely lived that album that year

*3D & This Is Me Then I didn't get into both more until 2003, so they weren't very important to me in 02. This is me was also a let down, I was never that into Jenny from the block or All I have, she got me with I'm Glad & Baby I love you, over all it's a solid pop/R&B album tho. 3D is a greatly underrated album to me

*Always loved Southern Hummingbird since Oops Oh My & Call Me, solid album that I still bump to every now &then

* Voyage to India & Ashanti I loved both when new, but don't use as much these days

* Don't much care for Musiq Soulchilds music, or Raphael's 1st album so nothing really to say there

* I surprisingly liked Cry Me A River and Rock Your Body, I gave Justified a fair listen (thanks to having a Janet song on it...that disappointed me), and didn't like it ofcourse, but it I did like those 2 songs and a few more that weren't good enough for me to remember.

* And Charmbracelet is my least favorite MC studio (non- Christmas sequel) album to date. BUT I do like Boy I Need you, and always have, Through the rain I always found boring when it was new.

3D and Charmbracelet have always been tied for me; they kinda felt more like 2003 albums since they came at the end of the year lol. The latter held up the best to me so it gets my vote. ^_^ I appreciate the honest lyricism even more now.

My ranking (+ favorite song)

1. Charmbracelet ("Yours")

2. 3D ("In Your Arms Tonight")

3. Full Moon ("When You Touch Me")

Extrapolations lol...

4. Southern Hummingbird ("Call Me")

5. Ashanti ("Movies")

6. Instant Vintage ("Be Here")

7. Voyage to India ("Little Things")

8. Justified ("Like I Love You")

9. Juslisen ("dontchange")

10. This Is Me Then ("Baby I Love You")

Other 2002 albums I liked: B)

This Is Who I Am ~ Heather Headley ("I Wish")

Star Kitty's Revenge ~ Joi ("Lick")

More Than A Woman ~ Toni Braxton ("Hit the Freeway")

Just Whitney ~ Whitney Houston ("One of Those Days")

Justin and Jennifer's albums are not R&B. They had strong R&B leaning but they were pop albums. I picked Full Moon.

They are most certainly R&B albums. Both contain influences of dance and pop but every track across both releases was crafted with urban contemporary producers and both have a sound which is primarily R&B.

Sorry to bump this but I just had to post this album. I forgot it came out in 2002 and although not strictly R&B it did have R&B vibes to it.

Sugababes_Angels_with_Dirty_Faces_Cover.

It is their best album imo and is what made me a fan! The singles, the look, the voices - everything was just flawless with this album which propelled them to fame!
