I saw a tweet from Ricky Gervais which said "Celebrities, make it harder for hackers to get nude pics of you from your computer by not putting nude pics of yourself on your computer."

Then Lena Dunham replied, "The 'don't take naked pics if you don't want them online' argument is the 'she was wearing a short skirt' of the web. Ugh."

Discuss.

Does the 'she was wearing a short skirt' refer to she was inviting rape? If so then Lena is talking shit.

I thought she looked beautifully human. love the braids and natural breast. she responded to the other pic of her fully nude saying that she wish she had that much space between her thighs lol. nothing to be ashamed about, you really don't know somebody until you see them naked ijs.

There's a specific response that I wanted to find on this because it sums up my thoughts pretty well, but paraphrasing it said that "You wouldn't blame the victim of a financial hacking scandal and tell them to no longer use credit cards or bank accounts if they didn't want to have their money stolen." As far as I'm concerned, this is another case of selectively blaming the victim. You mean to tell me if an ADULT wants to entertain an s/o or even a hookup with some privately sent dirty pics of themselves that they're setting themselves up as a target simply because they're a celebrity? How about these nosey fuckers digging around for these pics find a better job to do? When you send pics like that they are usually intended to be personal. Not for public viewing or use. You can imagine these ladies also at least attempted to take steps to maintain their privacy, but that was ruined. How is it their fault? You don't stop being a human being, even more an adult, the minute you get ahold of some fame. People kill me with this shit.

Although I agree for the most part - if the hacker doesn't get them...the disgruntled ex would. Doesn't make it right but hey...I love a celeb nude. People should learn from previous examples that unfortunately this shit does not stay private hence the "don't take them" post.

Then the ex would be wrong for sharing them. It doesn't matter who puts it up for the world to see. If the individual in the pictures doesn't agree to a wider audience for those pictures then it'd be wrong of that other person to leak them. That's an invasion of privacy. Once again, you're blaming the victim. You don't end this problem, correctly, by saying just avoid taking pics. Hence me paraphrasing the financial scandal idea. You take better steps to ensure people's privacy. This isn't a necessary consequence of that action.

It's wrong but it happens. They can't do anything about that unless they want to introduce or better enforce some sort of law which I doubt will happen any time soon. Hell - in the UK we've had an inquiry into newspapers hacking voice mails (different scenario but still an invasion of privacy) and absolutely nothing came out of it except some arrests and fines. It seems as if it was all for show just to quieten the anger mob.

I'm not saying it's an easy problem to correct, especially in the long term. However, people's opinions about it could certainly use some changing, or at the very least invest some real thought into it. It's a situation that needs effective improvement sooner rather than later and most importantly on the privacy end of it as opposed to the "consenting adults doing as they please" end.

Completely agree. Not to mention some of these photos had been deleted but still existed on the cloud.

Of course as a celebrity your privacy is always at stake and you should be extra careful, but it doesn't mean anyone has a right to expose private property.

It's a shame because I just don't see any improvements being made. Ethics with celebrities private lives has sadly always been a issue and as long as people crave every little bit of celebs lives...it'll always happen. People are too thirsty (including myself...I enjoy a good leak :shifty: )
