Being a feminist can mean either supporting the cause and/or advocating for it. Simply believing in it isn't enough. You need to do more than just to say you are one. However, I don't care for qualifying someone's feminism based on which actions they choose to take. It can be as simple as raising your voice in awareness of the issues or going all out and participating in the rallies. Whatever is within your means and advances the cause.

If you believe in its ideals and have contributed to the cause through support and/or advocacy then you're a feminist. A man can vote, sign petitions, participate in rallies, raise awareness, and other things just like a woman can do. To say men can't do the same is against feminism because feminism is about the fighting for the belief that the genders are equal in all but the physiological and that women have rights to everything men do.

Mocking is for anyone, especially of people who make ignorant statements like yours and get mad when someone calls you on it. I think that's more childish than anything. There are plenty of male feminists out there. I bet even Obama would call himself one. Saying there should be no male calling themselves a feminist is unbelievably ignorant especially since the male is the reason feminism exists. Because it was the male that kicked the females down. It was the male that decided women couldn't vote. It was the male that decided that women should be in the kitchens and not out working. Until the woman started fighting for her rights. In todays day and age women of any sexuality/colour/religion/creed should not be earning lower than the man, be subjected to domestic violence, forced into marriage, and be restricted just because they are a woman. It's a universal issue and the man is just as important to it as the female. Like think of your own privilege as a man before commenting . These women are our grandmothers, our mothers, our sisters. Pfft.
