bu.
Azealia Banks recently did an interview in which I believe she mentioned Iggy and also broke down in tears. I don't have the exact timing but she said this: "But the most poignant moments came when she opened up about the appropriation of black culture and how white artists, in her opinion, get more attention for work that black artists are doing better. "I feel like, in this country, whenever it comes to our things, like black issues or black politics or black music or whatever, there's always this undercurrent of kinda like a 'F--- you,'" she said. "There's always a 'F--- y'all n---as. Y'all don't really own shit. Y'all don't have shit.' That Macklemore album wasn't better than the Drake record. That Iggy Azalea shit isn't better than any f---ing black girl that's rapping today."" http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/the-juice/6413855/azealia-banks-iggy-azalea-ebro-morning-hot-97 Iggy decided to respond via twitter and she tweeted: The obsession continues...In 2011 I lost a record deal because another new artist told the president of the label she refused to be signed if I was also...And at the time everyone had this person pegged as the next big thing and me as someone who wouldn't last into 2012 so they their way. It was the biggest blessing I could have ever received and I cherish the people I met as a result... what I took from that experience. Is that NO ONE can stop or hinder what's truly meant for you! Your path is yours to make, there's nobody capable of blocking fate.Be good to others, try your best to only concern yourself with what YOUR creating and doing... And most importantly....When you get the damn spotlight... Talk about what good YOUVE GOT GOING ON! Being petty and spiteful is such a waste of energy, it's a recipe for failure and I wouldn't wish that attitude on anyone. A few hours later she went on to tweet: Special msg for banks: There are many black artists succeeding in all genres. The reason you haven't is because of your piss poor attitude. Your inability to be responsible for your own mistakes, bullying others, the inability to be humble or have self control. It's YOU! you created your own unfortunate situation by being a bigot and don't have the mental capacity to realize yet. Probably never will. Now! rant, Make it racial! make it political! Make it whatever but I guarantee it won't make you likable & THATS why ur crying on the radio. Enjoy continuing to bang your head against that metaphoric brick wall & Savor this attention. I'm the only way you get ANY. You're poisonous and I feel genuinely sorry for you because it's obvious at this point you are a MISERABLE, angry human being. Regards! Azealia then responded with: Dear LordT, I Pray for this Clueless White Girl. None of this will make sense to her until she herself has children with a black man and has to deal with having black children in America. The interview was about things way beyond your mental capacity.Itchy Areola, you are so stupid and selfish to make any of this about yourself in particular,My tears had absolutely nothing to with you and everything to do with society and the media in general. You have absolutely no place to comment. Stay out of this one.....But, iffy azuzu will not play victim and make this about her, I made some very valid points about things that are important to me.Things in society and culture. Things that really resonated with a lot of people. @Iggyazalea do you know what a minstrel is? Because that's what you are..... ================================================ Well damn
Escapade
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Azealia Banks. I can definitely understand her frustration, not just in music, but all aspects in life as a black person in America. She's very wise and her music is dope.
RedSimba
Harsh or not, she's still quite talented. That Macklemore album wasn't better than the Drake record....which in turn wasn't better than Kendrick's masterpiece. I get her point though.

But is there also a lot of success for people of color? Yes. There is a lot of good accompanying the bad out here, and that needs to be acknowledged just as much. The main thing, and likely only thing, holding Banks back is her horrible attitude. The same goes for others like her.

BUT as I've said in a discussion weeks ago, the fall of Black artist mainstream in the industry has less to do with racism and more to do with the bulk of modern hiphop/R&B sounds the same, has no individual flavor or zest. And it's sucks because you know what, I checked out Ms. Banks ashe is better than both Iggy & Nicki, but I know her for her bitching, complaining & fueding instead of promoting, I KNEW ABOUT HER THROUGH HER MUSIC FROM HEREEEEE THIS SITE LOL, everywhere else nobody talked about her music (that I saw) just her fueds and popping off about somebody. That's my experience with her so far. She's sitting here complaining, when she could be out working her ass off to get a better deal (SHE NEEDS) and (in Maya Angelou Poetic Justice voice) "Come On Up, COME ON UP!" I agree with you. But Im over people bitching about Maclamore, theres nobody outin mainstream rap like him, he's doing hs thing and has his own sound and approach and damnit I respect him and understand why he is where he is, and it's not because of his race, hell people forget this is his 2nd album. and you're right! I love Drake, but he don't wanna try Kendrick lol.

Good Kid Maad City was one of those albums where I can lose myself in the concept, and Section.80 was lyrically solid too. I think she would've had a stronger point had she gone to charm school lol mentioned K.Dot instead because Drizzy definitely gets his fair share of props as it is.

jarrylf
That's not exposing her, thats 1 persons word with no evidence and that could've easily been taken out of context (which tends to happen in convos with a overly sarcastic person as Iggy has proven to be and if the other person is more literal). I more so thought he had actual proof not a memory he admits he paraphrased lol.
bu.
My take. Iggy is the most annoying act since that Psy dude tbh. I don't like her, her music or her voice. But it always runs me the wrong way when someone you used to be tight and who used to "Stan" for you like Kid did Iggy starts being vocal against you lol. It's usually fishy. But I'm sure Iggy has tweeted borderline shit before (unless they were fake) so I wouldn't be surprised if its true what Kid said. Azealia Banks also made some great points that I agree with. But we already know how racist the industry and America is. I'm glad she has the balls to say it as do J Cole and Kendrick. I wish some of my faves would do that. But the minstrel thing and name calling isn't right. Make your point without being extra. Haven't seen the interview but I heard she was actually likeable in it. She even cried which I wouldn't expect from her.

(sidenote you described my feeling about Nicki perfectly, so I understand, if you find the person annoying & if their voice ruins their own music, I understand alllllllllllllllllllll too well lol.) But anywayit doesn't phase me really, especially in this industry with 2 celebs that are/were friends (it's the behind the scenes former employees of the stars who's word seems a bit more valuble to me personally. And about the tweets, they seemed to be more jokes that were wrong (again she's really sarcastic), that could be taken wrong, which is understandable. But also I don't really see her saying that only because...it kinda doesn't make sense, like if there was a slew of white female rappers, I can get that kind of arrogant "it's gonna be so easy for me", but...she's the first to get THIS successful, so if she said that verbatim, I can't see how that could really be taken seriously LOL. Yea if she just was talking about race matters period for the country in the modern day, I think I'd be more sympothetic, but to me it's reeking of "it's not fair that white people are getting successful at black music and I'm not"

Iggy is the foreign Nickelodeon rapper who can't seem to write her own music Leave the Pinkprink out of it... It is.. Ahem.. Critically acclaimed So has she, first white foreign born female to get this much success...EVER love her or hate her you're in denial if you think otherwise Except that's just a rumor fueled by a jealous rival, theres really been no legit factual proof saying that for sure, and if it were, she'd be n the same company of alot of female rappers (ala Salt N Pepa didn't write on their 1st 2 albums, and they're legendary, hell Run DMC didn't write every single song), but hey with no proof..... So were ARTpop, Cheek To Cheek & Me.I. Am Mariah, and did you let up on them?
JoeJoe
SMH Icky is fake as shit and it's sad people pretend they don't see the bitch has racist tendencies. Who knows what she says behind closed doors. I don't care if she's getting black dick. She's said too much racist stuff and inuendos of racism. It's especially sad when her BLACK fans act like it didn't happen. She's being exposed. Of course she's not gonna say it now since she's a big star but don't be shocked if later down the line tapes are leaked of her saying racist shit. And if we're counting large portions, ding ding, she fits the bill. Im sure those who hate her will I mean seriously... but those who go by the facts and stats wouldn't. Soooo SNP, who wrote NOTHING on their 1st album...a fact we know 100% ....is the same as a rumor that Iggy doesnt write SOME of her stuff?......um OK A C isn't acclaim tho, that's decent, just like the rest, but it's not acclaim.
