It's official! Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed their first daughter into the world in Paddington, London at St. Mary's Hospital on Saturday, May 2. And just four hours after her arrival, the official announcement for the royal baby was posted on an easel outside Buckingham Palace.

The gold easel was placed in the forecourt at 12:30 p.m., with the notice printed, signed, and framed by the medical staff at St. Mary's Hospital. The framed bulletin was brought out of the Privy Purse Door and will be on display for 24 hours. It will then be sent to the Privy Council Office so that it can be recorded in the Privy Council records.

The declaration is a tradition for the royal family. It was last used for the birth of Prince George in July 2013. (At the time, the easel was even driven over by police escort!) Like before, an insider tells Us Weekly that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will soon be visited by friends and family at St. Mary's Hospital. This time, however, their bouncing baby boy Prince George may be in attendance!

St. Mary's Hospital has been the chosen location for royal births since the 1970s. Before then, royal families traditionally welcomed their children at home.

Middleton and Prince William's baby girl is now the 11th known royal to be born at the facility. Other notable births include her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry, and Peter and Zara Phillips. Her proud father Prince William was the first future king to be born there.

YAS!!! I'm so happy for them. I knew it was going to be a girl. I should have placed some money on it. Alice is currently the favourite for her first name. I hope there's a Diana reference too.

I must say...Royalty born on MY birthday? I knew I was special to have David Beckham and The Rock on my birthday but now a Princess?

I still don't understand the whole body of government that the UK have to suffer through. Y'all pay taxes to rich people

It's just the way things have developed over the years. A lot of people would agree that we don't need a Royal family any more and that they cost a lot but apparently they bring in more than is spent on them through tourism etc. We had a republic, once upon a time ago. It failed and the monarchy was restored. They used to make the decisions...now they're just there in name tbh.

Alice is a beautiful name. Alice Diana C/Katherine(or Charlotte since it's also very popular now) Mountbatten-Windsor. I love it! I have fun with names. :asham:

What an honor! Especially since it's this princess being she's the granddaughter of Princess Diana

Oooooo I like them all! Sometime tells me they'll have Victoria in there. I think the media are gunning for Charlotte, Alice, Elizabeth and Victoria. Charlotte is actually Pippas middle name. Diana or even Frances would be such a great tribute.

YAS! And Princess Diana was the first person I STANNED for :lmao:

Any of those would be lovely. Just as long as they include "Diana" somewhere.
