Since the Hot 100 adopted Nielsen BDS and SoundScan airplay and sales data, respectively, the week of Nov. 30, 1991 (after the Billboard 200 had converted to SoundScan-fueled figures in the May 25, 1991, issue), Adele is the 14th woman to command each chart simultaneously. (The fairer sex wins bragging rights: 12 solo males have accomplished the feat in that span).

Among the exclusive club, Whitney Houston has spent the most weeks (12) concurrently in charge of each chart, with "I Will Always Love You" from "The Bodyguard" (Dec. 12, 1992-Feb. 27, 1993), while Mariah Carey (three) and Janet Jackson (two) are the only artists to so doubly dominate with multiple albums.

Here is a look at the who's-who of female stars who have topped the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 in the same week in the charts' Nielsen data eras:

Artist, Billboard 200 No. 1, Hot 100 No. 1(s), Year(s)

Janet Jackson, "All for You," "All for You," 2001

Janet Jackson, "janet.," "That's the Way Love Goes," 1993

Alright, I'm bored.

Janet Jackson was the first woman to achieve the honor [6 top 40 hits/5 top 5s from one album], with all six singles from "Control" reaching the top 20 in 1986-87. The next two albums Jackson released repeated the impressive six-cess. She garnered seven top 10s from "Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814" in 1989-91 (plus the No. 5-peaking Hot 100 Airplay cut "State of the World," which did not appear on the Hot 100, as commercially unavailable singles were not then allowed on the latter chart). Jackson added six more top 10s (counting the double-sided "You Want This/70's Love Groove" as one entry, per Hot 100 rules at the time) from "janet." in 1993-95.

Billboard's Top 50 Songs Of The Jacksons

From the book, Billboard's Hottest Hot 100 Hits 4th Edition:

All nine of Joe and Katharine Jackson's children have been represented on The Billboard Hot 100. Michael, Jermaine, Tito, Jackie, Marlon, Randy, Janet, LaToya, and Rebbie, in that order, have had singles enter the chart.

Janet Jackson signed with A&M Records in November 1982. Her first two albums failed to produce any top 40 hits, but that became irrelevant when her third LP, Control, hit the streets. Produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the album rapidly yielded five top five hits: 'What Have You Done For Me Lately' (No. 4), 'Nasty' (No. 3), 'When I Think Of You' (No. 1), 'Control' (No. 5), and 'Let's Wait Awhile' (No. 2). Janet kept up the barrage of hits with the Rhythm Nation 1814 album. Her 1993 single, 'That's The Way Love Goes', is the most successful Jackson family single in Billboard history.
