  1. Not being an ass, but why would either of them care that you don't want All 4 You rechoreographed?
  2. Beautiful song and great vocal performance by J. Gave it an 8 because it's just too short - needs a bridge.
  3. From the looks of it, it's going to be a simple straight dance performance video. No smoke and mirrors. Just performance. Down for this totally.

  5. Yes, Janet, yes! This makes me smile ear to ear. Bring it.
  6. I just look at this way - we are in a new era of entertainment in general. Things are much more à la carte these days. There is no formula anymore. Look at TV - Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc - there are AMAZING shows on there that are kind of under the radar but have very loyal followings because they are QUALITY. This seems to be how music is going as well - more unconventional (hello Beyoncé). It's becoming more about just putting out good work and less about sales numbers and following that release/promotion formula. I, for one, am liking it.
  7. YES! can't wait to see this! Y'all way too worried about the timing of her "promo" and shit. This isn't for promo. This is for the FANS. I, for one, am ecstatic. Thanks Janet!
  8. Only one can win this - "Nasty." It's her iconic "Ms.Jackson if you're nasty" line!
  9. "What'll I Do." Nice runs in this one. Also LWND is amazing vocally (pretty much all of RN is actually). Janet's got nice vocal ability and tone, just not vocal "chops" to blow u away. And that's ok. Doesnt make her any less of a valid artist. Her art is extremely effective and moving.
  10. Wow. Sounds incredible. Love those vocals! I hope this gets released in some form.
  11. Well traveled by a looooooong mile. It means something, is much better produced and much more of a vocal performance by Janet. I get goosebumps every ime I hear it. Just a great piece of music, honestly. Curtains is just....bad. Poorly sung and weak.
  12. First time I was really introduced was the "Nasty" video. I was 8 years old, didn't know one singer from the next. I was just really aware of Michael Jackson I guess. But I remember my sis going on and on about this video by MJ's sister, and I watched and was really intrigued by her dancing and sass. And when she said "No my first name ain't baby...," I just remember being hooked. She became my #1 the moment I watched/heard "Miss You Much." From then on, I was completely obsessed with her music and presence. She was a force from that moment on for me. No one, not even Madonna and MJ, whom I both really liked back in the day, could compare. Like MJ, the fact that she was SO shy and meek off stage, then EXPLODED in performance on stage, was completely unique and captivating. It seemed so effortless to her.
  13. Well, to be honest, I'm not surprised at how low-key the era is/was (except for the cancellations - didn't expect or like that). We should not expect J to be repeating TVR, AFU times her in career. She's 49, in a different space, not trying to keep up with the next diva. This was a project completely 100% on her terms...and that's why the album is so damn amazing in my opinion. That being said, if she had just put out ONE more good video and finished her 2nd leg of the US tour this Spring, I would have been satisfied with this era overall.
  14. Hmmmm if this was even on the RADAR, why would she form this partnership with BMG and release this major project that has a "three year plan" with a world wide tour? The more she canceled, the more flakey it seemed. Love Janet and wish her the best, but surprised by this path and her timing with everything, especially considering that it seems more planned than any kind of surprise.
  15. First, let me say I adore Elton John's music/talent and always will. He's a living legend. That being said, I just think he's a bit off here. If Janet was pulling a Britney and literally mouthing an entire concert, while I'd still think it was harsh and pretty rude, I'd have to somewhat agree with his comments. However, that's just not the case. Janet clearly is singing live throughout most of this and all her previous concerts. The only exception I can think of is maybe her verse in Scream (I think this is because it is hard on her softer voice to push/"scream" like that). In Rhythm Nation, there is clearly a loud backing track, but you can certainly hear her live voice in it. That song is a powerful one and the extra layers of vocals is probably necessary. I honestly can't think of anything else in the show that is lipped. Can anyone else? Also, let me point out that Gaga, as incredibly talented as she is vocally, also often sings along to pre-recorded vocals during her dance numbers. It's not lip syncing. It's just a dance performance. I have no issue with some recorded vocals being included as long as the live vocals come through too. I don't think it's fair to call foul on that.
  16. She looks nice here. Kind wish we'd get to see her in something other than those same pants, though.
  17. God I love Gaga. This immediately shot to a close 2nd to Whitney's version in my opinion. Janet is my #1 girl, always has been and always will be. But when Gaga came out back in 2008, even before she really caught on, I saw this capability in her. I knew she was about to be a mega star on a whole new level. She'll win Oscars, Tony's and more Grammys and Golden Globes before it's all over. Incredible voice, incredible stage presence and incredibly intelligent. She's just a natural.
  18. Unbreakable v You Ain't Right Burnitup! (ft. Missy Elliott) v. All For You Dammn Baby v Come On Get Up The Great Forever v When We Oooo Shoulda Known Better v China Love After You Fall v Love Scene (Ooh Baby) Broken Hearts Heal v Would You Mind Night v Trust A Try No Sleeep (ft. J. Cole) v Son Of A Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You) Dream Maker/ Euphoria v Truth 2 B Loved v Someone To Call My Lover Take Me Away v Feels So Right Well Traveled v Doesn't Really Matter Gon B Alright v Better Days Doing this I realized that I always skipped a LOT of songs on All For You on a regular basis. That being said, the single All For You was massive and Someone to Call My Lover was a perfect follow-up to it to make the album as successful as it was. I also did not really care for the angry/bitter tone it had in a lot of parts (Son of a Gun, You Ain't Right, even Truth to a degree). Unbreakable is totally different. I only sometimes skip Dream Maker and Burn it Up. The rest I listen through to the end. It's just damn near perfect to me, and i love the frame of mind she's in throughout. It's very poignant.
  19. Nice write-up. However, the shade at Gaga was unnecessary. Like it or not, Born This Way was a "moment" for LGBT culture. She was asked once why she was so blatant with her approach in that song, and she basically said that time for subtlety was over. She was just "saying what the f*** needed to be said." ??
  20. I actually think it is brilliant that she only has female dancers. At 49 it'd be a little odd for her to be reaching under and grabbing the crotch of a 24 year old male dancer during If. What she's done is highly appropriate and and a nice statement of empowerment for women/girls of all ages (12-49), sizes, ethnic backgrounds. Well played by Janet.
  21. I don't miss the interludes AT ALL. Honestly, ever since the invention of the iPod/iPhone, shuffling my music with Janet's interludes is so annoying. LOL I finally had to go in and remove them all because I would shuffle only Janet's music and have to listen to 3 or 4 random interludes at a time before a real song would come on. I have a feeling this had something to do with their decision not to include them this time around.
  22. I definitely agree that it's highly unlikely that pop radio will pick up a janet single at this point. And I'm with the rest of you - I don't even care. I'm loving this album so much that it doesn't really matter. However, every time I hear this song it just crosses my mind that IF a song on this album were to get some traction, this would be the one.
