Everything they do is over the top and ludicrously expensive. So the price tag does not make this race important. Its important in that region. If it were as big on a global scale it would be on ESPN just like the Kentucky Derby is broadcast live all over the world. All of the top racers don't even compete in this which also makes it not that important.
