  1. There are plenty of black folks singing soul music. But Mainstream only recognizes white soul singers even though half of what they do is really POP. Real soul music was only mainstream in the 60s and 70s. Once the tempo got changed for disco it became R&B and we never looked back. But there are plenty BLACK soul singers still making music. Problem is, if Jill Scott had made an album like "21", she wouldn't have gotten any Grammy's.

  3. He isn't lying. Beyonce won't be known for her "soul singing" like Adele or Aguilera...and it is primarily because of the market she is in. She thought "4" would influence the masses and cause a resurgence of R&B popularity. She must have forgotten about "21". Usher can call himself the "King of R&B" all he wishes...his catalog proves otherwise with more bandwagon riding than the Beverly Hillbillies. He is a pop star. The issue with black artists doing popular music is they're losing their soul.

  8. She quit promotional appearances around November, gave birth in January...we're now in March and the shows are in May. I'd say 6 months is a realistic and well-deserved 'break' and maternity leave. Beyonce's team consists of family and close friends so when she's on stage for 2 hours I'm sure Tina or Jay will make sure Ivy is fine. No one said anything when Jay announced his Watch The Throne World Tour due to begin BEFORE Bey's shows for a whole month.

  9. They had the nerve to laugh at Kenya's speech to Shaunie at the birthday table but then Evelyn had the nerve to come with that FAKE ASS speech, with the tears and all praising Shaunie's friendship... trying so hard to make Jen feel and look bad. And then sat up there and made a second speech to str8 up diss Jen. She REALLY showed her UNNECESSARY ASS..she lost some points with me.

  12. Why do you have to insist that people should know her because of Paper Planes or before the Superbowl? I love MIA and have known her since Arular but you expecting people to know her is downright pretentious.

  14. Those women go back to work because they HAVE TO. They need to keep their jobs so that they can provide for the baby. But if you work with women who are CEO's and rank high in their organizations, they tend to take off for four to six months. I think a lot of people feel like Bey has the money to actually stop and bond with her child. Most women in her position financially would not rush back to work. Other than a few jenny craig adds, MC has been low key since the twins came. Bey's scared of being replaced. Her last album didn't do as well as expected and even though it got great reviews it got no Grammy love. Homegirl is nervous about being forgotten. But by may, it will have been 6 months so i guess thats actually a long enough time. Especially for Beyonce.
