I guess we all evolve when we evolve. I have to admit Iam a 50 year old woman and JUST got hip to Janet Jackson. Mainly due to the group I hung with and was influenced by wasn’t my own people, my Black culture. Don’t get me wrong, I knew who Janet was, but that I never listened to her songs, never cared to know who she was. Now that Iam fully engrossed in my black culture listening to her songs and reading about her, even learning what I have through interviews of her has made me appreciate her vulnerability and transparency. What she has disclosed let’s me know she’s just as human as we are. Her boldness to love herself and admit her issues is huge!! Now that I’m listening to ALLLLLLL of her songs I feel so left out, so underdeveloped. Nevertheless, all things come in it’s time. I have to say Iam not ashamed of when I “met” Janet through her work and through her music. Iam just so truly grateful that I have “met” her and can connect with her through her music .
