  1. I'm sure she didn't feel any type of way. She's been in the game for a lot of years. She knows how the game works. Also, I didn't get why everyone made a big deal of it being Amy and Tina's last year hosting -- like they couldn't be asked to host again next year or something?
  2. I just hope it's more like her VR, AFY, or RWU tours and less like her last tour.
  3. I didn't see it but I suppose I would be annoyed by it.
  4. I know your intent was complimentary but this is indeed one of my pet peeves when someone says this.
  5. The HBO thing definitely help. Like I remember being a little boy like long before I knew who a Janet Jackson really was or ANYTHING about what was on the Velvet Rope album and seeing that promo'd on HBO so much that I use to play on my skates outside and say I was performing The Velvet Rope. But I also think in terms of production and things like that - it was so next level. It really set the ground for future female entertainers. Also for a lot of people it was the first time really seeing someone bring up an audience member and be sexually suggestive with them which is now a common theme among concert shows. So I think for it's groundbreaking and award winning nature -- it is a favorite among both fans and non-fans alike
  6. I was just coming to make a post about this! Janet stay teaching the new generation.
  7. I told my older sister that her album was shitty but I had to call her and tell her I was wrong.
  8. I personally don't think Feelin Myself is that great of a song - quality wise. It's cute to dance to or whatever but there's much better songs to remix. I don't necessarily think that it is a display of the problems at Cash Money because Cash Money at the end of the day is just an arm of the very successful Universal. The problem with this roll-out is that they chose single choices to curry the favor of the Starships or Fancy fan base and none of the songs that they though would be able to do this - did, because unlike Starships and Fancy, her pop songs this go around were too sad for teenager girls to get behind and propel. Instead, they should've went with a more hip-hop based approach to solidify that fan base and hope for some cross over success with songs like Feeling Myself and the song with Ariana Grande.
  9. Azalea Banks portrays everything I dislike about NYC in one single person. I can no longer listen to or support her music no matter how good it is because her whole essence irks me. The fact of the matter is, yes, white people run the music industry -- white people largely are the voting members of the academy. Of course they are going to pick feel good songs such as those about accepting same loving (promoting their liberal agenda) and shopping at thrift stores over songs about strippers/prostitutes (which both Drake and Kendrick album featured). We can't tie success in hip-hop to Grammys or to commercial popularity because hip-hop in its very essence is the music of the marganilized. Those that aren't suppose to win or whom are constantly overlooked. It was ironic that Banks went on a tirade about the largely jewish presence in the music industry but yet was validated (and petted) by a Jewish radio personality throughout the entire meeting and has been embraced by the equally jewish & white presence of the fashion industry. When you flopping - you stay pressed.
  10. Damn. "Stupid Hoe should've befriended me. Then she could've probably came back." -- Words of wisdom from Young Nick, the atomic bomb!
  11. Welp, I for one was "gob-smacked" when "that digital dropped." I remember this flamboyant-ish guy running through campus right after the announcement and me thinking "Is he running to get that new Beyonce -- or is he running to catch Scandal?!?" I came to the conclusion it was probably both - because, slay -- and I don't even be championing Bey the thief like that.
  12. If only it was that simple, a lot more people would be leaving their company. There are contractual agreements. Wayne might owe Cash Money/Universal more records. He may or may not own the masters to his songs. Etc. Thus, whenever he wants to tour or make money from those songs he may have to get approval which is easier on a more amicable decision. It may be that they are trying to work out just a cash buyout for Lil Wayne or for taking the Young Money vehicle to another company which is what I am hoping. We have to wait and see.
  13. No. Lil Wayne is signed to Cash Money records which Birdman along with Mack Maine run. Lil Wayne is the head of Young Money which is a sub-branch of Cash Money Record, which is a sub branch of Universal. Lil Wayne did sign Nicki and Drake and Tyga and a few other Young Money artist -- but he still has to answer to Cash Money and Universal before things can be released.
  14. This year has been great. Perhaps the highlight, if I had to choose one, it would probably be graduating from school.
