  1. Okay... he said they have matching tattoos. Janet doesn’t have a tattoo of JD, right?!?
  2. I’ve been noticing The Kids and other folks working on the show have been saying things like ‘tonight’s the last night of this run of the show.” The way they’re phrasing it and almost seeming a little sentimental about it already (even though it’s just getting started!) makes me wonder if she’ll change/tweak the set list for each run (month) of this residency.
  3. I imagine Beyonce always has to leave concerts one song early or else she’d get bombarded with people asking for selfies as soon as the show’s over. Looked like she was feeling herself (pun intended), especially during WHYDFML. Love it.
  4. Agreed.. that seems to be the trend: Vegas is it's own, stand alone show. Mariah has her Vegas show (The Butterfly Returns, or whatever) and then has her touring show (Caution World Tour). I feel like JLo maybe did something like that, too. I can't wait to Janet's version of a Vegas spectacular, finally getting the top-notch production she deserves. BRING ON THE METAMORPHOSIS ERA!!! (Buuuuut... I hope the new album has a different name. After Discipline and Unbreakable, I'm a little over the one-word album titles. Change it up!)
  5. I’m surprised she’s not doing a version of SOTW at Glastonbury...
  6. I’ve been trying to figure it out, too. I was looking for setlists of past ceremonies and it looks like a good number of the inductees do perform (with other artists collaborating). I know it’s a long shot, but I keep imagining Stevie Nicks joining her for “Black Cat” or something along those lines. (I know, I know. keep dreaming)
  7. I also think Janelle is a good choice. She’s definitely a huge Janet fan (at Panorama she stayed for Janet’s set and showing Janet a lot of love on social media). Plus, I see similarities in Janelle’s career that shows she def drew inspiration from Janet: songs about social issues, style choices (when Janelle’s style was more androgynous and only wore black and white, it reminded me of Janet’s RN look and her own sexy tomboy style that a big part of her early career), Janelle exploring more sensual subjects lately the way Janet did on the Janet album. I think Janelle will make us proud. But here’s what I’m wondering... WHAT SONG(S) DO YOU THINK JANET WILL PERFORM?!?
  8. I’m going to the DJ Aktive after party. OMG I CANNOT WAIT
  9. I kind of hear a little "Free Xone" here, too.
  10. The RK remix is so very 1994 and too much of his sound, which (in my opinion) was starting to feel a little played out by the time this remix came out. Maybe if the backing track were more subtle, I’d like it more. (Or maybe I was just never that much a fan of his sound) But the original is a CLASSIC and I feel like has aged very well.
  11. I don’t know... the new crop of artists have given Vegas more of a ‘cool factor, ‘ (even though I think it’s still lame)... but I wouldn’t be surprised if she leans towards that route once her son is closer to school age. Her staying in one place, putting on an awesome show (making money) and giving Eissa a homebase for pre-school or kindergarten or whatever might make the most sense for her when the time comes... (which is pretty much why Celine went the Vegas route all the those years ago, right?)
  12. I guess the Grammy nominations come out tomorrow? Any predictions for Made For Now? I could see the music video possibly getting a nod or the song getting a nomination in one of the collab categories... It did top the dance chart, something in the dance song category would be nice (even though I feel that category has gone more EDM the past couple of years...) Thoughts/predictions?
  13. They place Janet in the Top Ten. I’d rank her higher, of course http://www.vulture.com/2018/10/lady-gaga-star-is-born-pop-stars-film-debuts-ranked.html 9. Janet Jackson — Poetic Justice (1993)She didn’t win “Most Desirable Female” at the MTV Movie Awards for nothing! (A different time, 1993.) And there’s plenty more to budding bard Justice than her looks. Jackson makes her out to be a fully rounded, substantive young woman capable of introspection, dysfunction, independence, and affection, of messing up and learning and getting tougher the way adults in training do. She and a trio of friends — most notably a magnetic Tupac Shakur as Lucky — make the drive from South Central L.A. up to Oakland, and the lower stakes of their destination befit the more low-key profundity of the wisdom they gain along the way. Justice isn’t headed for stardom, just a hairdressing convention, and rather than anything as trite as “follow your dreams,” Jackson locates the more satisfying pearl of “in a brutal world, hold on to whoever you can.”
  14. I think when her sister got cancer, Kathy shaved her head in solidarity, and it’s jut growing back in a very awkward way...
  15. It's just one day... And it seems like her and The Weeknd kind of have equal billing as headliners, but there's no way they wouldn't have her NOT close the fest. She has to be the main headliner. I wanna make sure to see Janelle and Cardi, but I don't want to hang around Central Park all day mostly waiting for Janet. I'm mainly just posting cause I'm too excited and it's pretty much all I can think about at this point. Seeing Janet perform live THREE times in less than a year (Brooklyn, Panorama, Global Citizen) is just a damn dream come true.
  16. I looked at the GC site, and they said they're not releasing the order of the concert or set times (https://www.globalcitizen.org/en/festival/newyork/2018/faqs/) But does anyone have any inside info of around what time Janet will go on next weekend? OMG I CAN'T WAIT
  17. Well, I love this.... especially when Dave Meyers says he's always trying to get Janet to wear more than one outfit in a video. lololol And correct me if I'm wrong, but is this FINALLY the first time we're seeing any footage from the camera crew that's been following her around over the past year?
  18. Anyone have any guesses or intel about any possible Janet participation at the VMAs tonight? I saw in Instagram that Gil is already back in LA, but it looks like Preston is still in NYC... maybe staying to do her makeup for an appearance on the show tonight? Just saw Madonna announce on Twitter that she’s presenting Video of the Year, which I was half expecting Janet to do this year as the legacy presenter... (apologies if this has been covered in another thread)
  19. Global music superstar Janet Jackson is set to debut her new single, "Made for Now," in collaboration with Daddy Yankee, on the Friday, Aug. 17 telecast of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." The appearance marks Jackson's first performance on late-night television in 14 years. She last served as musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" in 2004. This will also be Jackson's first appearance on "The Tonight Show" with Fallon as host. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.broadwayworld.com/amp/c.php%3furl=Janet-Jackson-to-Debut-New-Single-MADE-FOR-NOW-with-Daddy-Yankee-on-THE-TONIGHT-SHOW-STARRING-JIMMY-FALLON-20180813
  20. Ughhhhh. Ever since I got an Alexa like 2 years ago I’ve been mostly listening to Janet on Amazon Music Unlimited and not Spotify.... or else I would’ve def been one of the top Janet Spotify streamers in NYC. The only thing that’s making me a feel a teeny bit better about it is that I’m out of town next week. But still: FOMO
  21. The graphics and screens for SOTW are, oh I don't know, 1,000 times better than what was used for the UCAP. The video dedication before the show started was barely, if even hi-def (at least it seems that way at the Chicago stop). But the ones she's touring with now are crystal clear and make the biggest difference. It's funny, I know there's not much a set on the stage (no offense to those light boxes on either side), but I don't think of it as being scaled back as a whole. The screens are so big! The choreography is so major! She does costume changes! (And not a single pair of drop-crotch pants grace the stage...hehe) Because they put so much extra effort into these details, I really didn't miss any of those extras like fireworks or levels on the stage. And i don't think I'd change a thing.
  22. I feel like I'm still on a high from the Panorama performance... But I feel like the reviews from that performance and most of the stops on this current tour are some of the best I've ever read. Maybe the lack of pyro and special effects really allows people to focus on the dancing/choreography, which is she is bringing 110%. You can feel the renewed fire and energy in her moves this time that I feel like I haven't seen at this level in awhile. I know HBO doesn't really do live concerts much these days, but if this tour does get extended through the fall it would be awesome to see it wrapped up at a bigger venue and televised or recorded for some sort of release on a streaming service at least. (Hopefully part of the rumored Netflix deal)
  23. Just saw another review of the Panorama performance. It's so satisfying to see the media and general public to finally give her the damn respect and legend we've all been seeing the while time: https://www.stereogum.com/2007842/janet-jackson-panorama-2018-review/franchises/sounding-board/ My favorite part of the review: "It was the kind of performance that as you walked out of the fest — carefully walked out, that is, now through mud that threatened to suck your shoes off — you were left with the impression that stars like Janet Jackson, there’s only ever a couple of those per generation. There’s only ever a couple people who have that much charisma, that much larger-than-life presence. But eventually, they can transcend that generational association. They might be one of the only ones of their time, but then they appeal to people from before and after, and end up where Jackson is now in 2018: a still-exhilarating performer who all of us could appreciate equally."
  24. And a glowing review of last night’s show from Billboard: https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop/8467528/janet-jackson-panorama-2018
  25. It was soooo good. Loved how energetic and more carefree she was and the audience was giving it right back. So good!
