SloLove
Rhythm Nation Her fourth album, "Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814" revealed Janet's deep commitment to social justice. "I want my music and my dance to catch the audiences attention, and to hold it long enough for them to listen to the lyrics and what we're saying." The album's lyrical content targeted injustice, illiteracy, crime, drugs, and racial intolerence all of which was done to a slamming beat that kept audiences intrigued and dancing. "Rhythm Nation" is the only album ever to launch number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in three seperate calender years: "Rhythm Nation" (1989), "Miss You Much" (1989), "Escapade" (1990), "Black Cat" (1990), and "Love Will Never Do (Without You" (1991). It also brought Janet her first Grammy Award for Best Long Form Music Video, for "Rhythm Nation 1814." Janet's "Rhythm Nation" tour, the first of her career, set box office records around the world, and still holds the record as the most success premiere tour of any artist. Paul
Again, I discovered this full album after DOAD was released. I first heard it in full in 1997 on a road trip in Australia. I already loved the songs from DOAD but I was totally blown away to hear the album as a cohesive hole. Gems such as state of the world and lonely. I genuinely thought and think that this album is genius.

RedSimba
And this was my 3rd CD. The message is brilliant: social-conscious and entertaining! One of the most important albums every released.

hotboy06
If the word stan was around back then, then I was one for this album..me and my cousin were pretty much obsessed with Janet. Arguably, her most iconic era, it just made her a bigger star and cemented her place in pop music. You can argue that this album made her a LEGEND.
God
My first Janet album. I bought it when I was 11 or so just for the title track but I had "Black Cat" on repeat for months. Even though they were before my time, the videos still manage to bring back memories for me. I wore out that Rhythm Nation Compilation VHS with a quickness.
