Rolling Stone: 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time

256. The Velvet Rope - Jackson left behind her girl-next-door image forever with with The Velvet Rope, an album of sexy, confessional, freewheeling hip-hop soul. She fuses Joni Mitchell and Q-Tip in "Got 'Til It's Gone," but the shocker is her girl-girl version of Rod Stewart's "Tonight's the Night."

275. Rhythm Nation 1814 - Jackson bought a military suit and ruled the radio for two years with this album. Along with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, she fashions a grand pop statement with hip-hop funk ("Rhythm Nation"), slow jams ("Love Will Never Do [Without You]"), even hair metal ("Black Cat").

Sex Songs: The 69 Steamiest Tunes ... Ever

18. Janet Jackson, 'If'

If this 1993 hit was just about having a crush, then 'Single White Female' was just about having a roommate. Janet (Ms. Jackson, if you're nasty) gives us the details on her fantasy play-by-play, including what she would do to her man's "smooth and shiny." We're sure the object of her affection cashed in immediately. -- KD

Sexiest Lyric: "You on the rise as you're touchin' my thighs and/Let me know what you like/ If you like I'll go/Down da down down down da down down"

MTV Buzzworthy: Top 5 Videos With Killer Dance Sequences

4.) Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation 1814": Back in the day, this Janet Jackson video was the sh*t. Frankly, we think it still is. The video might be more than 20 years old, but those dance moves are timeless. Hell, so is that baseball hat with the silver buckle, but we digress ...

I forgot to post this a while back.

58. Janet Jackson, janet.

As Black-American music royalty, Janet Jackson has had every significant moment of her growth recorded. With Control, she had her cotillion. With Rhythm Nation 1814, she announced her political and sexual awakening. And with Janet. , she celebrated becoming an erotic being. using soul, rock and dance elements, as well as opera diva Kathleen Battle, Janet unleashed her most musically ambitious record, guided, as always, by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Tow albums before, she'd innocently sung, "Let's wait awhile." Now she boldy purrs, "If I was your girl, oh the things I'd do to you!/I'd make you call out my name/I'd ask who it belongs to!" Like Gloria Steinem with a six-figure video budget, she shows young women a way to have their sexual freedom and their dignity, to have their cake and be eaten, too.

The most stylish music videos of all time (video)

7. Janet Jackson - "Love Will Never Do Without You"

One of the best songs and videos ever. Shot by acclaimed fashion photographer Herb Ritts, who suggested Jackson wear jeans and a simple black top instead of a dress. The video co-stars mega hot actors/then-Calvin Klein models Antonio Sabato Jr. and Djimon Hounsou.

Top 10 Super Bowl Scandals and Controversies

1. Super Bowl XXXVIII - Janet Jackson gets exposed

This is the mother of all Super Bowl controversies, bar none — which is somewhat strange considering it never affected the game, and nobody's life was in peril. This was all about Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime act Janet Jackson's notorious "wardrobe malfunction" in her duet performance with former Mouseketeer Justin Timberlake. The highly controversial MTV-produced show culminated with Timberlake ripping off Jackson's two-piece top, revealing the singer's breast covered by a very visible nipple shield. Jackson later apologized, Timberlake seemed mortified and even though the breast was exposed for a mere 9/16th's of a second on the live CBS telecast, the NFL immediately announced they would never let MTV produce another halftime show and CBS was levied a hefty $550,000 fine — which was subsequently overturned in 2008.

Billboard's Top 50 Moments of the Decade

5. Nipplegate

(February 1, 2004)

Even without the wardrobe malfunction, Justin Timberlake's choreographed grab of Janet's little Jackson was probably too salacious for Superbowl Sunday. But JT's offensive touch went way too far. "Nipplegate" set off a fierce debate about indecency, the FCC's role in censorship and sexual content within music. What followed were a host of new restrictions for live broadcasts, increased fines for indecency violations and a sheepish apology from Timberlake on that year's Grammys. The plus for classic rock fans was that old, "safe" dudes like Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen finally got tapped to play halftimefollowing the fiasco.

The 10 Best Super Bowl Halftime Shows

2. Janet Jackson & Justin Timberlake, 2004

It was the day that the phrase "wardrobe malfunction" entered the American vernacular. Debate about whether Justin Timberlake accidentally or "accidentally" exposed Janet's little Jackson has raged since that Houston halftime. FCC fines have been assessed, thrown out and appealed in judicial court, and the court of popular opinon will be in sessions for years. But bedazzled breast or not, you have to admit that J&J put on a pretty kick-ass show. It's a shame all anyone remembers is the last two seconds

This was obviously #1, but due to politics, it was moved to #2.

Star-studded 2007 edition of Guinness World Records released

Janet Jackson became the new "most searched for person on the internet" and "most searched for news item on the internet" because of her infamous wardrobe malfunction during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show.

New Words for the Dictionary

wardrobe malfunction ("an instance of a person accidentally exposing an intimate part of their body as result of an article of clothing slipping out of position.")

Frankly, we're amazed it took so long for that last term to make it into the dictionary. Thanks to Janet Jackson, Paris Hilton, and other Hollywood stars, it's been part of the public discourse for years.

Of course we all know DJ and 20 opened at #2 on the BB200, and Disciple opened at #1. This gave Janet 8 consecutive studio albums to reach the top 2 on the Billboard 200.

Control - #1

RN1814 - #1

janet. - #1

TVR - #1

AFY - #1

DJ - #2

20YO - #2

Discipline #1

It also extended Janet to have 2 #1 albums in three separate decades, at least 1 #1 R&B hit in three separate (ohnly artist tew dew eht). As stated, Janet has 8 consecutive albums to reach the top 2 on the BB200. The only acts to surpass this are The Beatles, The Rolling Stones who released 8 studio albums in 10 years to Janet's 3, and Jay-Z who released 9 studio albums in 11 years to Janet's 4.

Discipline made Janet the Black female with the most #1 albums (6). Alicia Keys is at 4, but Janet is more impressive as Janet's spans over 22 years, a testament of her longevity and staying power.

Still getting honored during trying times.

I see why they mad.

And they can stay that way.
