Rock & Roll Hall of Game
I don’t want to dive too far into anyone’s medical file but I’m curious what a bunch of gay men or straight women have to say about PrEP. The poll above isn’t “public” so other users won’t know who answered what.
Bailey
I'm not active to the extent I feel comfortable taking prep. Prep has side effects like early kidney failure, they are in the process of producing a better anti-viral combo drug that works better than Prep. Lenzo88
I’ve taken it n am on my way to taking it again. Honestly, it works but mind you, it’s only protection against HIV, NOT other STDS. So my advice to you is if you are having unprotected sex frequently, use both prep and a condom as a way to make your protection a lot stronger and increase the percentage of not contracting anything. bu.
Not taking it as I don’t need to since I use condoms but I would if I decided to take the condom off.

Theres studies that suggest otherwise I am not a nurse, there is a current lawsuit against the company that provides Truvada, the most common PrEP drug on the market.....the lawsuit hinges on kidney damage besides its a lot of these dudes out here that think PrEP is a free invite to screw everyone without protecting and honoring your body. I'm not perfect but Im not out here being a complete cum dump either so

I dont feel comfortable with regular multiple sex partners, its not who I am, and at some point the act itself will put me off, like okay no more guys. Ive done it too, like nope, no more sex, I just feel there's nothing wrong with sex, its natural and great for you, the problem is finding someone that its more than just body parts touching

It does not damage healthy kidneys Blah blah blah. Yes. PrEP is for the prevention of HIV. Everyone knows that. Everyone. So digging into men who like sex is irrelevant

PrEP isn’t an alternative to condoms. It take 7 days for it to actually work at max capacity..

Bailey
is there a stigma still attached to HIV infection even while being nondetectable on PrEp?

No one said it was. But I feel like I don’t need Prep if I’m not having unprotected sex. I get that there’s the risk of a condom breaking and being on Prep is an additional barrier against HIV but I haven’t thought much about it personally. More and more people are taking it. Maybe i’d consider it when I’m sexually active again.

vibeology
Haven't used it and am cautious of guys who say they use it because I assume they more prone to unprotected sex. I'm probably being old fashioned and ignorant. Im not that sexually active tho.
