Quick Rihanna News

Bruno Mars replaces Rihanna’s “Diamonds” after three weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100, the track is No. 2 now. “Diamonds,” atop Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs for a 10th week, leads Hot 100 Airplay for a second week and On-Demand Songs for a fifth frame. It rebounds 8-2 on Hot Digital Songs after leading the list the week of Dec. 1.

With “Diamonds“, Rihanna logged a 47th cumulative week at No. 1, a sum compiled among 12 leading titles. Thus, another way to consider Rihanna’s Hot 100 success is that she spends almost four weeks on top once sending a single to No. 1.

“Diamonds” is No. 1 in Germany for a 7th week, making it her most popular song there. Fun fact: “We Found Love” was Rihanna’s most successful song in the US, “Umbrella” in the UK, “Only Girl” in Australia, “Man Down” in France.

Rihanna’s “We Found Love” was the most played song on US airwaves in the past year. “Where Have You Been” was number 19.

Forbes debuted its list of top earning women in the music industry in 2012 today and Rihanna is at No. 3, making $53 million, behing Britney Spears and Taylor Swift.

“RiRi is a blessing in disguise,” said Future, who collaborated with the Barbados superstar on her new album Unapologetic. “It just says a lot about her character. She takes risks and I love women that take risks because I feel like that’s the way to live. Do it your way.”

Rihanna to Perform On the Voice Finale

The season finale of “The Voice” has enlisted some high-profile talent to help send the show’s third cycle off with a bang. Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Mars and The Killers have been tapped to perform on the two-hour extravaganza, which will culminate with the crowning of a new champion, NBC said Wednesday. An additional special guest will be named at a later date, the network added.

Rihanna will perform her song “Diamonds,” while “American Idol” alum Clarkson – who has served as a guest mentor on the show, as well as hosting the rival singing competition “Duets” – is set to sing “Catch My Breath.” The Killers, meanwhile, will play their single “Runaways,” and Mars will debut the song “When I Was Your Man” from his sophomore album “Unorthodox Jukebox,” which was released Tuesday.

The season finale of “The Voice” will air live on December 18 at 8 p.m.

Rihanna Reigns Supreme As MTV News' Rock Star Of The Year

In 2009, when Rihanna declared "I'm a rock star," it seemed like a stretch (even if she did get Slash and Travis Barker to give her a few pointers on the subject). After all, though she'd recently dirtied up her image with the Rated R album, RihRih was still the girl best known for songs like "Umbrella," "SOS" and "Pon de Replay" ... three hits that, while omnipresent, rocked about as hard as Death Cab For Cutie at an NPR convention.

Fast forward three years, however, and that statement seems strangely prescient. Because at the end of 2012, Rihanna is basically the last rock star standing. This was, of course, due in no small part to the continued de-fanging of rock itself (the year's biggest-selling bands? Mumford & Sons and Fun.), though really, over the past 12 months, Rihanna has given the Axls and Diamond Daves a genuine run for their money. Hers was a year of audacious attitude, salacious singles, extreme excess and downright defiant deeds ... she did what she wanted, with whomever she wanted, and didn't give a single, solitary f--- about any of it. She flaunted her blunt-rolling abilities, posed nude more times than we can possibly count, re-connected with her controversial ex and led 150 journalists on a seven-day death-march around the globe. Shoot, she even found time to release Unapologetic, an album that, in hindsight, seems like a mission statement.
