  1. Rihanna sang the night before the Grammy's at some benefit/pre Grammy party and sounded just fine.  They showed a clip of it on The Talk Tuesday morning.  And Rihanna had the audacity to go to Grammy parties after the show.  If she had bronchitis the bitch would not have been out going to Grammy parties. Smh.

  2. Taylor copped Janet's jumpsuit look that she wore on the American Idol Finale when Ellen was one of the judges...only difference is that Taylor added a bunch of black stones and crystals to it. The Weekend never fails. I had no idea who Alabama Shakes was but now I do and that bitch rocks!  RiRi pulled out of the Grammy's an hour before it started; she was there at rehearsals but her publicity team is saying that her doctors told her to pull out due to "bronchitis". Smh.  When Beyonce came out to present Album Of The Year she got a luke warm reception, people didn't lose their minds.  Beyonce waited for more applause but it didn't happen maybe because of what she was wearing?  Beyonce was wearing some old ass lace curtain!  Bieber won his first Grammy and performed and got the crowd going.  Gaga did an amazing Bowie tribute but I wished she had sung maybe 2 songs instead of a medley. I would have been happy with "Heroes" and "Rebel Rebel" or "Changes".  Taylor is the first female to win Album of The Year twice after tonight I guess and she responded to Kanye's comment about how he made her famous in a very classy way.  Again...what the hell was Beyonce wearing?  What else? Oh yeah Adele started shaky but I think she recovered....she seemed nervous but I appreciated the song. I found myself suddenly attracted to Justin Bieber but that's a different story.

  3. I like Bernie and his ideas and would love his inspiration to to lead our nation as he is the best bet as far as saving our Country but I wouldn't be mad if Hillary got the nomination.

Bernie just reminds me of the time when Howard Dean ran in 2004 and got us all excited and then he burned out.  I'm sorry to say but Bernie just reminds me of a "Seinfeld" episode which annoys me big time.  I just don't want to be let down by Bernie's campaign and all the red tape involved that could get in the way of getting the nomination.

But trust me if Bernie gets it I will be celebrating and doing cartwheels but I still don't trust those Republicans.  I will be celebrating if Hillary gets it too.  Hilary is part of the Clinton Administration and that is a lot of weight to carry without receiving any type of backlash just like the Bush dynasty.  I would love to see Hilary change the Clinton dynasty for the better if Bernie doesn't get the nomination.  I definitely say a Hillary/Bernie ticket would be amazing but I think they just don't like each other.

  4. Ummm....it was okay.  Didn't make me excited.  It was cute though. Beyonce's video was more of the star over the weekend.  But Beyonce joining Coldplay and Bruno just didn't make sense.  It was way too tame.  It was as if they were performing on Sesame Street. And I'm tired of the same costume/silhouette that Beyonce wears when performing live.

  5. Happy anniversary to a solid and influential masterpiece! Although Teddy Riley is usually credited as the inventor of New Jack Swing (which in turn was the basis for most late 90s pop), I'd say the NJS sound actually started here. Wasn't alive at the time, but I imagine the record must've been a fresh, exciting change.

It was not only a fresh and an exciting change but a revelation of something that was missing from Pop.  Janet became the baddest bitch around and just left us thirsty....actually left us starving for more by the time she released "Pleasure Principle".  Damn the "Pleasure Principle" was like a cliffhanger!  Janet delivered something completely different with the "PP".  We were never the same again.

  6. Control was just as successful as R.N.....but the impact of Control was just crazy.  Everywhere you drove you heard people playing it in their cars, the radio stations were all over it. All the black girls wanted to look like Janet from this point on.....it truly was an Urban explosion.  And when the 3rd single for "When I Think Of You" hit forget it.....Janet had the entire country routing for her.

By the end of the era Janet hit us with "The Pleasure Principle" and she snatched everyone's bald head....everyone!  For a good second it was Prince, Michael, Madonna who?

And even though Janet took 3 years to deliver R.N. people didn't mind cause they were still rocking the "Control" album.  This was such a formative time in my life.....Janet gave me life like no other.  My family and my best friend's family at the time were sick of us and our Janet histrionics! It was an incredible time!  No one had ever displayed such attitude and sass that Janet delivered in the first 2 videos for "WHYDFML" and "Nasty".  Janet was a revelation and history was made.

  7. Um Joe, can you show me where it's written EVERY vocalist must do runs to be considered 1? Cause...you do know there's like TONS of great vocalists who don't do runs (Karen Carpenter who's recognized as 1 of the best vocalists on the planet yet she wasn't a powerhouse by any means nor was she doing runs). Like I guess if the churchy over the top runs and belts is what qualify's as a vocalist to you, I guess I can see that, but she's a person who's vocals are what got her where she is and get crazy respect & recognition for it, she's a vocalist, and it's going to take more than "she don't do runs" to convince anyone who don't agree otherwise.

Hell I'm not a Streisand fan but can someone who is tell me if she (who's also recognized as 1 of the best vocalists of all time) is known for her runs?

Love me some Karen Carpenter. Timeless.

  8. Why are some of you bothered?  Same thing is happening to Sam Smith already.  But I loved 21(that album is epic) and liked 19....haven't really been able to listen to 25 just yet except the lead single but there's more to Adele than just her beautiful voice.  She's humble, funny, approachable, swears like a sailor, honest and is going to surprise us down the line I think and will go into acting at some point.  But regardless I'm happy for her success.  She's extremely genuine in my book and definitely emotes which is what I look for in a vocalist.  But again I don't get why some of you are so pressed by her sales.  I say good for her and her fanbase.  She's only going to get better if her heart is truly in it.

  9.

Looks like you might have a very very long wait

Yeah I think she has some acting chops in her too.....and she's beautiful.  Did you see the parody she did of herself?  She's hilarious!

  10. I really feel like im at that time in my life. I never lived anywhere but here... im planning a few months away in March. Can I ask what is stopping u from doing so?

Current responsibilities, trying to get my company off the ground.  And if I ever do decide to leave it's going to be for a good 2 years so I would need to make sure to have plenty of money saved.  Would love to live in Spain.....when I was there for 2 months in 1999 I was in heaven.  I was very fortunate to travel a lot through my 20's and early 30's.  If I were going to move to another city in the states I would consider Portland or Santa Fe.  Love San Francisco but it's become too expensive and so boring!
