Is Janet Jackson's relevance fading within the forum community, and if so, what factors have contributed to this shift in interest and engagement?

People tend to say someone who doesn't sing loudly, can't sing. It's ignorant

Ya'll got your tickets, right?
I gotta wait til Friday for the tickets to go public for the June 16th show since the pre-sale tickets are only on the left side of the stage and some towards the lawn and those suck.

I honestly don't want the album right now and i'm glad she starting the tour in the spring when it starts warming up. She's smart

Pitchfork: The 250 Best Songs of the 1990s
146. Janet Jackson: “That’s the Way Love Goes” (1993)Ephemeral, transcendent, sensual, groovy—“That’s the Way Love Goes” is less a song than it is a vibe. From the first bouncy downbeat, your back relaxes, your head nods, and you let out a sigh: That is the way love goes. How can one feel so horny yet so chill at the same time? With Jackson’s whispering vocals over Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’ delicate, soulful beat, it is one of the greatest songs ever released about the overwhelming yet meditative pangs of lust, hypnotic, like desire itself. “That’s the Way Love Goes” was a mega-hit—the longest-running No. 1 single of any Jackson family artist—and the song, like the janet. album it appeared on, exposed us to a new Jackson: still soft-spoken but confident in her sexuality, her body, and her desire. –Samhita Mukhopadhyay
110. Janet Jackson: “Together Again” (1997)On the surface, “Together Again” borders on Hallmark-card triteness: It features a childlike, major-key melody, a peppy disco-house beat, and a hook that goes, “Everywhere I go, every smile I see/I know you are there smilin’ back at me.” But Jackson wrote the lyric about personal friends she’d lost to AIDS, and the song’s co-mingling of plucky cheerfulness and crestfallen grief makes it both winsome and wistful, echoing the spirit of the Supremes’ classic “Someday We’ll Be Together.” In 1997, the world was in the second decade of the AIDS crisis, yet few mainstream pop stars had creatively responded to the epidemic, despite the deaths of musicians like Freddie Mercury and Eazy E, and the disproportionate effect of HIV and AIDS on LGBTQ+ communities of color. By paying tribute to the departed, this No. 1 hit became an intervention, a cause—an upbeat rallying cry when we needed it the most. –Jason King
50. Janet Jackson: “If” (1993)Janet Jackson is staring down an oblivious dude from across the room while thinking some very naughty thoughts. “If you like I’ll go down, da-down, down, down, da-down, down,” she mumbles in a hypnotic monotone, before opening up her voice to underline the innuendo, “Your smooth and shiny feels so good against my lips, sugar.” “If,” the fiercest track from her chart-obliterating janet. album, clears a path for her freakiest fantasies. The production, by Janet and her longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, is a genre-defying riot—feral guitars that bring to mind prog rocker Robert Fripp smashed together with an artfully flipped Supremes sample and steel-hard hip-hop drums inspired by Public Enemy. Urged on by the turbocharged beat—and a dance-heavy video where Janet memorably pushes a guy’s head toward her crotch—this horny hypothetical of a song is fully realized. –Ryan Dombal

I'm really surprised they like "If" better than her 2 other classic no.1s. Actually I like "If" better than "Together Again" anyway

I'm always watching all Marvel shows since i'm a huge comic fan. Right now i'm on Umbrella Academy, Locke and Key, I love the comedy show The Upshaws with Kim Fields, Mike Epps, and Wanda Sykes. It's funny af I also watch Love and Robots which is a short story animated series, the cgi and cinematography are amazing on some of the stories. I watch a lot of other stuff too but i'll mention them later

I watched/skimmed through the whole show. Probably her best show in quite a few years. And it's clear, costume and wardrobe is a much needed element in her live performances going forward. Hopefully she recognizes this.
But I think what's most important, is that we finally got at least something of a live performance of "Lonely". Hopefully we'll get the full performance on the tour, or at least a snippet. She's using more of her catalog, which is good. And she's still keeping the show contemporary by adding current songs, and also blending in classic ones ("I'm In Love" for R&BJ, for example). Really just a testament of how diverse and flexible her catalog is regardless of age, race, etc.
Now, , we just need the single/album to follow. The documentary was a missed opportunity while she had media on her side. Hopefully she wont blow this chance too.
I was so shocked she did "Lonely". Everybody know's that song along with "Feels So Right" and "SloLove" were the songs i've been waiting for her to perform live for for over a decade! Now she only has "SloLove" and yes I loved the transitions into the songs. I hated how her choreographer switched up the iconic "If" routine but I loved Janet using her arms again for the breakdown. She'll only do that for a big event or a sold out show. Her costume she came out with. I wish Essence would've let us hear more of the crowd instead of us barely being able to hear them and thinking they were boring because it was the total opposite. Now the girls can't say shit because Janet provided live vocals for just about all if not the whole show and still danced her ass off. Proved she's the greatest female entertainer alive. I haven't heard 1 negative review from fans or haters since the show

Hey divas, icons, and legends! Just stopping in for the nostalgia~ I’ve grown so much since the old days. Remember Nipplegate breaking the forum? remember when “Weekend” had everyone bothered?
For anyone who tiptoes back here I am well and thriving. I earned my Masters years ago and started my own nonprofit. I’ve never been better, more free, and come into my own as a beautiful adult person.
I stay off of social media because all the new gorls are such flops and will never know the real. Don’t think for a second that I dont see the children having stole all our lingo and passed it off as their own. C’est la vie.
I still stan Janet DOWN. My eternal legend and mother. Thank yal for all the laughs. Thanks for all the shade, reads, drags, scalpings, and slayings.

Finally got around to watching it. Wasn't as in depth as I thought it would be, we learned a few new things, but too many instances of being MJ jumping off points for happenings in her career and asking about how his life effected her. I need these ppl who produce these documentaries to understand something - we don't care about him. Stop wasting our time asking. It was nice to see all the footage that was stored away. I wonder if they had to pay Rene for it since it seemed he was the one who filmed everything (another thing we can thank him for). I feel like it skipped over the TVR - 20 YO eras a little too quickly. But overall, satisfied but it let a little too be desired.
don't ignore my question I asked you in the other thread. What happened to ya damn twitta?
Forum Talk: Have we all come to a point where we don't care anymore about Janet?

True. I think mostly everyone is on twitter, IG, or fb. I have Shawn1814, Dayz, Lenny, Jarryl, DirtyDave, Cosmo, Boi, Ronnie, and a few others either on either of those 3 and some of them I have on all of it. I always talk with Dayz and Boi on IG. Shawn and Lenny mostly on twitter.
