General Rules for Planet Janet Welcome to Planet Janet! The main objective of this board is to express your love for Janet, your opinions, and to interact with an important segment of the Janet fandom.  To enjoy your experience here, below are general rules and guidelines to make your experience here be successful: The N Word Please be aware that the N word is going to be filtered on this forum. Most importantly, this word is not acceptable on this forum in any form; therefore, if it is used again by ANY member on here, it will result in an immediate and permanent ban. Consider this the first, only, and last warning regarding this. Music Download | Copyright Infringement Illegal download links to music from any artist are not permissible to be posted on this forum at any time. If you have posted an illegal download link, you must take it down immediately. Failure to remove the links, and/or subsequent, repeated offenses will result in disciplinary action up to and including a permanent ban from the forum. Fan Threads of Other Artists Generally, we like to keep threads and/or topics about other artists within an Official Artist Thread.  This helps to eliminate clutter and redundancy throughout the forum and allow a one-stop shop to view comments on that particular artist not pertaining to Janet.  If there is HUGE news related to an artist and generates a lot of discussion, it is okay to have a standalone thread on that topic outside of the Official Thread. A good debate is OKAY in the Official Threads of other artists.  Official Threads are not complete sanctuaries of devotion of that particular artist; however, there is a need to be civil with other members.  Please refrain from personal attacks and arguments that devolve into personal attacks. Additionally, do NOT use Janet as means to defend an artist.  This forum is made in her honor, and putting her down to boast your particular artist is prohibited. Exercise good judgment and common sense.  If not, then the moderating team will exercise disciplinary action depending on the egregiousness of the action.  Please utilize this announcement as a first warning. Personal Attacks

Each member has a warning percentage - most of them are at zero right now but a few have been warned before. Each warning is worth 10%, and once it gets to 100% the member is automatically banned from the forum.

Each time a member gets into an argument with another member that includes personal attacks, if it is reported or viewed by a member of the moderating team, each participant in the personal attack will get an increase in their warning percentage.  They will be notified via PM, and, prior to posting again, will receive a receipt acknowledging that warning before they can post again. The Moderating Team will never divulge a member's warn percentages on the forum or to other members.

What this means is you are now responsible for your own future on this forum. The Moderating Team will not keep asking you to stop and being ignored. Learn to let things go and learn to moderate yourself before posting; if you end up banned it will be your own fault. Personal attacks and include attacks on one’s race, age, religious creed, color, gender, national origin, physical, mental or visual disability, medical condition, ancestry, marital and military status, pregnancy or sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and general physical appearance/looks. Depending on the nature of the personal attack there will be corrective action up and including permanent banning. If you have any inquiries about your warning percentage, feel free to PM a mod for an answer. If you need any clarification on the rules, feel free to reach out to The Moderating Team.

Now Janet Jackson is too big to appear at one of the highest rated award shows of the year? You say this given the state of her ticket sales for a tour that starts in a month. You fans truly are bold.

Just A Little While was always going to be the first single.

I highly doubt general admission tickets are that much for any city. You much be looking at either VIP tickets or resell. $500 is a decent VIP price for an artist of her caliber.

As if Gil would announce something like that via Instagram Live if it were true. Entertainment Tonight has never lied about Janet and Janet's team exclusively sends them info on Janet.  Truthfully, they're given much more power than Gil is. Janet never enlists Gil to announce anything, whereas Janet enlisted Entertainment Tonight to announce her marriage to Wissam.

That's because the Hot 100 chart and R&B/Hip Hop charts have different sets of rules, clearly. And it's also clear that the rules regarding musicians like Herb Alpert doing an album with featured artists was different back then as well. It has nothing to do with her legacy being erased. The same thing was done to Lisa Keith who sang lead on "Making Love In the Rain". The song's chart position isn't attributed to her either.
But wait! Could it be possible that Billboard and the media is also trying to erase Lisa Keith's legacy with this omission as well?! Is a Lisa Keith's Legacy Matters campaign on the horizon?!

Well, the only correct thing that was said in here was "It starts with the base," but not for the reasons that were listed. You can't expect others to be aware of Janet's legacy when her own fans can't get facts straight. I'll exclude the plethora of inaccurate facts that exists in campaigns such as Janet's Legacy Matters and Induct Janet and just reference the inaccuracies in this thread. Firstly, Diamonds is not listed as a top 10 by Billboard because it isn't Janet's song, it's Herb Alpert's. That was the rule made by Billboard when the song first impacted the charts way back in 1987. So did Billboard have a vendetta against her then as well? And We Are The World for Haiti is no more a hit for Janet than We Are the World was for LaToya. Phoning in vocals as part of an ensemble and calling it a hit for her is just overreaching.

They were cut because of her husband. He's the reason she wouldn't even touch or stand next to another man for years. Just look at how awkward she looked with J.Cole in the music video for "No Sleeep." Given such a sensual song, for her to be fully clothed and not even embrace the male counterpart on the song, it was very obvious it was because of Wissam. That video was not the Janet I know.
And I do agree with your point that the real versions need to return. The kids are irrelevant to me, but the new If routine is awful. There are certain routines you just don't modify: Rhythm Nation and If are two of them. If it comes to a point when she can't meet the physical demands of the original choreography, then she just need not perform it. But don't truncate the routine with choreography that looks horrid next to the greatness of Tina Landon's.

The optimism is admirable, but you all do this every time she announces a tour. And every time it's the same greatest hits show as the previous one with a few tweaks here and there lol. Don't set yourselves up for disappointment just because the tour has a different name. She just isn't adventurous like some other artists when it comes to digging into your back catalog and performing deep cuts, and she never has been.

Y'all are getting the same show you got last year with Daamn Baby and the State of the World instrumental during band/dancer intros being thrown in and you all shall deal.

They really think she wasn't trying to get pregnant when she launched the tour. Obviously her pregnancy wasn't done naturally. Much preparation most likely went into her getting pregnant. That's what makes the way she handles this so bad. But some fans think it was out of her hands. She really got them good.

I wouldn't be surprised tbh. They already gave her a second chance after the RWU tour, only for this to happen. She'll most likely fulfill her obligations, but she's too much of a risk going forward. Things just can't go smooth with her like other artists for some reason. Like, why can't she just finish a tour as planned? Why is there ALWAYS something preventing her from doing that? Fans point fingers everywhere except at her for that. Interesting.
