  1. I just played Bionic again and MY GOD, the ballads on that album are just sublime. That break in the middle of the album ('Lift Me Up', 'All I Need', 'I Am' and 'You Lost Me') is everything. They are the reason it's still my fav album from her.

...most people that trash that album haven't even heard it

Bionic was ballsy considering the negative publicity....there's a reason Billboard proclaimed it (as well as the ArchAndroid by Janelle Monae) the best pop album of 2010.

  2. rihanna-where-have-you-been.jpg

Rihanna has released the official artwork for her new single ‘Where Have You Been’. The track lifted from Ri’s ‘Talk That Talk’ album has also recieved the visual treatment.

The music video has been shot with Dave Mars, and Ri promises a dancentric treat for the Navy. It is not yet known when the video will premiere but next month is highly likely. The track is one of the strongest in terms of single potential and we cannot wait to see Ri give Beyonce a run for her money in the dancing department. (Okay stans, I was joking).

A fun and dancey visual is just screaming to be made given the type of party-popping song that it is. ‘Where Have You Been’ will impact US radio on May 8th.

This single will be her twelfth number one...

  3. Nicki Minaj Named "Most Influential Rap Artist Of All Time" By The New York Times

Chart topping hip hop artist Nicki Minaj has been named “the most influential rap artist of all time” by Jon Caramanica of The New York Times. As a Young Money Entertainment delight, the twenty nine year Trinidadian born American recording artist landed in the music scene during August 2009. In the days since, Minaj has turned heads, dropped jaws, and claimed her place at the top of Billboard charts with hit singles like “Super Bass,” “Your Love,” and several collaborations with the industry’s best, including L’il Wayne, Kanye West, and Drake.

The Times praise of Minaj’s work as a forerunner for female rappers included: “She became a nimble, evocative rapper. She became an intricate lyricist. She became a thoughtful singer. She became a risky performer. She invented new personae. More than any other rapper in the mainstream, she pushed hard against expectations, and won.”

The article and acclaim will certainly pave the way for Minaj’s second album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, set for release on April 3, 2012.

  4. There is no Danity Kane without Aubrey O' Day.

Everyone knew Dawn was with Dirty Money before the demise of Danity Kane...which was the reason D. Woods left and Aubrey spoke out and was eventually fired. Aundrea was tired of it all and Shannon missed her family.

Every single one of those girls have missed a show or two. Blaming Aubrey was the obvious choice...but the true blame belongs with Diddy. He perpetuated the drama of the reality show.

We all knew Danity Kane wouldn't last under Bad Boy.

  5. Zimmerman is a racist.

He killed Martin for no reason.

There is no evidence to support the argument of self-defense.

There is evidence that proves his actions were racially motivated.

Being "Non-White" does not disqualify you from being racist.

He should be held accountable for his actions and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Anyone that argues this isn't a hate crime is clearly uninformed.

  6. I can't listen to the 911 tapes...this story has been eating away at me since it first broke.

It really brings home the fact that being black in America is still as dangerous as it was during the Jim Crowe era.

My cousin was murdered by another black man and dropped dead less than 100 feet from the home after running for his life....no police came to the scene until two days later.

His killer was released on the day of his funeral.

It is unfortunate that it takes racism to motivate black people to stand up and speak out....but it is even sadder that these events took place in the first place.

I sympathize with his family and hope to God that George Zimmerman is held accountable for his actions.

  7. Lana Del Rey Talks 'SNL' Performance

Just 36 hours after the most polarizing Saturday Night Live performance in recent memory, Lana Del Rey is in New York, eating a cookie. "I actually felt good about it," she told Rolling Stone. "I thought I looked beautiful and sang fine." But it's clear that Del Rey has been rattled by the overwhelming Internet vitriol hurled her way after her awkward renditions of two tunes, including the breakout single "Video Games."

How did it feel to sing on live TV?

It felt OK. The cast and crew said they loved it. I know some people didn't like it, but that's just the way I perform, and my fans know that.

    Are you comfortable onstage?

I'm nervous. I'm not a natural performer or exhibitionist. When I was younger, I hated the focus, and it made me feel strange.

The backlash to that performance has been pretty harsh.

There's backlash about everything I do. It's nothing new. When I walk outside, people have something to say about it. It wouldn't have mattered if I was absolutely excellent. People don't have anything nice to say about this project. I'm sure that's why you're writing about it.

Have I given you the impression that I don't like your music? I do! Especially the song "Radio."

No. I don't know how you feel about it. It's not easy to gauge how people feel about it. I don't really want to go into it. But thank you, I love "Radio" too.
