  1. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!! I am so all over the place right now that i'll just leave it at that...somebody please give Kimberly Elise her fuckin award...by FAR Kimberly, Janet, and Phylicia....honey sista muthafuckin girl!!!! oh yes and Macy...her ass DID that!!! I can't even go to bed...i'm just...wow

I loved Phylicia in this movie :excited: :excited:

  2. The film left me wanting MORE ...Just like you said in your review I felt it was so on da surface..I wanted to be able to sink my teeth into it but it wasnt even fully cooked for a bite

I wanted more office scenes of Janet too.....

  3. I actually went to a screening shown last nite at midnight.(so I got to see it early)

The film had its HIGH and it LOWS. From the previews and all this media talk I was expecting more of a raw, intense, brash sort of film (similar to Precious) but it was more watered down and lacked a STRONG presence. Kimberly Elise was indeed impressive (as always)..she is sooo convincing and extremely underated. Loretta is HEAVEN to me. She's always believable in her characters and you never get a sense of her "putting on a performance"...she IS the performance. She's so fluent in her delivery you would think her lines arent script driven at all. Janet has improved..I love the tough exterior shell that is only a protective shield over a delicate womans heart. Her CHARACTER was by far my fav. The others actors were good as well.

The LOWS of the film stem from Tyler's typical "signature" style of telling a story. I believe alot of times he has great ideas but they sort of dont jump out at you as he would like. I notice he tends to have certain scenes with this extremely long (uncalled for) dialogue which I call his "wannabe Oscar moments" when he could have conveyed the message in a much shorter setting. He seems to not know when its the "right time" or when to turn it off or to simply let it be. With that being said I cant say that this film is OSCAR WORTHY. The story is there but if Lee Daniels were over this...Im forced to believe it would have been more monumental.

I agree....It wasn't as raw as I was expecting it to be, but it was very good nonetheless. And I'm on the fence on whether it's OSCAR WORTHY or not. I think certain performances were, but I don't know about the film in its entirety. I left the theater feeling slightly without closure. I know Tyler was trying to remain true to Ntozake Shange's work, but IDK. The film did what it was meant to do. Whoopi was a mess to me though.

S.N. Now I see why they kept showing that same clip of Janet and her husband over and over again......

  4. I would so cuss your ass out right now for telling that her husband gave her HIV. You should put "SPOILER" in the title of this thread cause thats what you just did. Anyway thanks

It was in the subtitle......it's not my fault you didnt read it -_-

  5. THIS PARAGRAPH CONTAINS A SPOIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLERRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

The movie was wonderful. Kimberly Elise and Janet gave the best performances. I wish Janet was given more screen time, but I know it wasn't all about her. Janet didn't need a big WDIGMT scene to show RAW emotion. Janet acted so effortlessly. I loved how she told her husband he gave her HIV and left. The emotion flowed naturally. Kimberly Elise was excellent. "Enuf" said. Phylicia Rashaad did her thing. Thandie was kind of funny being all "ghetto" and trashy. Kerry Washington didn't do much for me. Everybody else was good, except Whoopi. I thought Whoopi looked and sounded a fool a lot of times. I don't know if it's her character or the way she played it. I think it's both. I kind of wish we got to dive into the characters more....I feel like we only got to the surface of some of the characters. The poetry didn't always flow nicely. Janet, Phylicia, Kimberly, and others were good at not making it sound like poetry, but Loretta completely recited some of hers like a poem. I liked the ending and understood it, but I don't think everyone will understand or like the way it ended. BUT ALL IN ALL I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY POWERFUL.

  6. They calling Willow the new Michael Jackson and she has upstaged Beiber at his own concert.

    :excited::excited::excited::excited::excited:

Hollywoodlife : Willow Smith performed for the first time on a major stage Oct. 25 at Justin Bieber’s concert in Los Angeles — and she was INCREDIBLE! The crowd went nuts!

There’s no denying Justin Bieber is a rockstar! The 16-year-old mega performer sang, danced, played the piano, drums and guitar — and even rapped during his My World 2.0 concert at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles Oct. 25. I was one of the nearly 20,000 screaming fans in the packed stadium dancing and singing along to the Biebz, but the highlight of my night was by FAR was the guest list — Usher, Jaden and Willow Smith all made surprise appearances!

I feel honored to have witnessed 9-year-old Willow’s first big live performance. She’s already blowing up the charts and will, without a doubt, be one of the biggest musical artists in the world within a year. Although I could only make out a little blur from my seat in Proactiv’s suite, Willow’s presence was unmistakable. During the encore, she started rapping a verse from her single, “Whip My Hair” and the crowd erupted into wild applause. Then, when she started doing “the dougie” with Justin, I almost spilled my drink. That little girl is straight up genius!

Her older brother, Jaden, made an appearance earlier in the show and he’s also genetically gifted. Justin introduced his backup dancers, who were all breaking, and then Jaden came out and started doing tricks as well! Will and Jada Smith have groomed these kids perfectly for show biz.

SIDE NOTE: Usher, who’s Justin’s mentor, also performed briefly during one song, but he went almost unnoticed — the little kids totally upstaged him!

Overall, I give Justin’s concert two-thumbs up…although, Jaden and Willow definitely earned at least one half of the thumbs! Sure, I’m a Biebette, but now I’m also a whipette!

    :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited:
