But I actually think Gaga has toned down alot. She's at least taken a layer off her image. She's not as gimmicky. Much as I loved Applause..it sounds too familiar..like she's done it before which is y ppl werent buying and seem a lil over her. People just don't care anymore and see that the music is pretty lame and empty too... I mean listen to any Unknown electro girl band and you'll find similar stuff and mostly better...

Anyway... the album will have strong openings (although it lost most #1 spots withing days) but won't make 1 in a lot of countries .. Eminem is blocking her (and with higher album prices as well)

I agree..with the tons of promo she's being doing and the mark down price of the album..that figure is kinda shabby. Not tryna be a debbie downer but.. and I understand you all saying it still can do well over time but in A LOT of cases the 1st wk has been a great indicator of how the end of the race will finish out. The only reason this even still has legs to fall back on is becuz she's still one out of the 5 leading ladies in the game. From this point its gonna be an uphill battle. If it doesn't come in blazin.. It's harder these days to build momentum back up later in the era..Yes, it prolly will eventually go plat but I guess I thought Gaga was still much bigger than that. I held her to a higher status in the game, I suppose.

She is easily one of the biggest artist on the planet, and for a time she was THE biggest. So yeah, I expected better numbers. But i think her album is suffering from a couple of factors. First of all competition has been stiff this season with releases from M&M, Katy and the emergence of Miley as a real factor. Second of all, Gaga astectically needs a new gimic. She's been doing the whole, crazy, insane outfit thing since day one. It seemed refreshing in 2008 when she first came out, but now it seems redundant. Plus as much as her fans would never admit it, she has not changed all that much sonically since she came out either. I would be more intrigued by her if she put on a glamorous gown and sang a ballad at her piano. I think the public is no longer impressed.

However, her #s are still solid. Not as good as her last, and certainly cause for concern in her camp, but I can think of a few artist who would kill to debut with 270,000 in their first week.

I don't think 270.000 copies cover the costs spend on promo though...

Sure they were expecting at least a 600K opening, with the first 500.000 copies with that foil cover

Just because your making money doesn't mean your broke, I never said she could've quit showbiz and never worked again, I said she wasn't broke. To me if you have the hit's with your name....what's the hold up? Whitney & Janet both had hit's in different genres that has to count for something... but maybe it don't
