Couldn't have said it better myself. Seriously some Janet fans act like Janet hasn't done anything music wise since she last released an album in 2008. We did get a new song in both 2009 ("Make Me") and 2010 ("Nothing") and a tour in 2011. Plus she still did things career-wise even though they weren’t related to music since her last album was released (Why Did I Get Married Too?, For Colored Girls, 3 Blackglama campaigns, and was a Nutrisystem spokesperson). Honestly the break from mid-2012 to this year is the longest break Janet has had in years. So it is easy to see why she isn't rushing to release an album. Yet we have detailed information about a new album from Ian Cross as well as hints about a new album from Jimmy Jam and Bobby Ross Avila. Janet has already confirmed she was recording new music in 2013 in an interview and her husband when talking to a Janet fan last year said new music was coming soon. Literally there is more conformation that she is recording new music than there is conformation of her retiring. If anything she is taking her time with this new album which honestly I don’t mind. I would rather have an album that is great, that isn’t rushed, and has Janet’s input. Honestly do really want another album that is rushed or doesn’t have much of Janet’s input like Damita Jo, 20 Y.O., and Discipline.

I've never understood the argument that Janet got where she is because she is a Jackson. I've always thought that was a weak argument honestly when it comes to discrediting Janet's success. Being related to someone doesn't equal success. I can name multiple artists who are the sibling/child of successful artists who attempt to have solo careers and none I can think of come close to their sibling's/parent's success or Janet's success. Just because you are related to someone doesn't mean that you automatically have success. You have to work for your success because you don't just get handed awards, you don't get multiple successful songs/albums on the Billboard Charts, you don't get sold out tours,etc. You have to work for your success and not think your name/who you are related to automatically equals success because most of the time it doesn't. Also If being a Jackson helped Janet so much why don't the 7 other Jackson siblings have a career like Janet which consists of over 100 million albums sold, 10 #1's on the Billboard Hot 100, 20+ Top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, 6 #1 albums, 300+ Awards, considered an influence to multiple performers, etc. The brothers were apart of the Jackson 5/The Jacksons but didn't have super successful solo success, Rebbie had "Centipede" but that was it, and La Toya has done multiple reality shows but has had very limited success in music. So obviously the Jackson name didn't help as much as people want to believe otherwise every sibling would have had more successful solo careers but they don't.

Totally agree. I like this article the best of all the articles that were written about each one of his children and Katherine on his website. It was the most personal of all the articles besides the one about Katherine. The others focused more on the other children's careers/musical talents.

Day 10 – Janet Jackson Janet, the youngest in the family is very very smart. She was more like a tough kid. She was real rough. I mean she was rough. What do they call them… yes … tomboy. She was a tomboy. She could whop all the girls. Really rough and really really smart. She is really easy nowadays. She has mellowed. She is now married and living a good life with her husband. I always felt that she was a natural when it came to acting. She did that movie, with the late Tupac Shakur. I thought it was a very good movie, and I was very proud of her performance. As great and known as a singer as she is, I think the world has yet to recognize her extremely great talent as an actress that surpasses her singing. She wants to have a good part in a strong action movie. I can’t wait to see her in one. She did surprise me once, picking me as her date to the premiere of the movie she did with Eddie Murphy. Now Eddie is a great friend and I consider him one of this generation’s greatest comedians, but right in the middle of watching the movie, as proud as I was of Janet, I never let her know that. She asked me what I thought and I remember telling her “You should be bigger than this. You should be the lead actor in the movie and carrying it”. I know the comment upset her, because she became quiet and I knew it. But i know her so well, that I knew she was going to channel that anger to prove that she could do better and was right. She came back even stronger with greater movies. And you have not seen the best of her yet. That’s my girl. When I suffered 4 strokes last year, and was in the hospital recovering, only two people in my family traveled all the way to see in the hospital. My granddaughter Brandi (Jackie’s daughter) and my baby girl Janet. She sat right next to me as I lay in bed, spent time with me, talking about a lot together. It meant a lot to me. I lay there listening to her as she talked about how she was going to get married. I am happy for her and wish her nothing but the best !
