'Canadian Psycho' Magnotta arrested in Berlin, report says
LUKA Rocco Magnotta, the Canadian suspected of killing and dismembering his boyfriend, posting a video of the attack online, then mailing body parts before fleeing to Europe, was arrested without a struggle today in the German capital Berlin.
He was expected to appear in a German court later today.
The Bild newspaper reported the 29-year-old self-styled porn actor and stripper, who had been the subject of a global manhunt and on Interpol's 10 most wanted list, was arrested at an internet cafe in Berlin's Neukolln district, a working class area, citing police sources.
Bild said the owner of the internet café had recognised Magnotta and called police.
He was picked up about 2pm local time, German Police Chief-Supt Stefan Rieldich told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
"As far as I know, he was arrested alone and there was no struggle," Rieldich said.
Magnotta is being held at the Berlin prison and is expected to appear before a judge today, the CBC reported.
According to AFP, an employee of Eurolines, which operates buses throughout Europe, claimed he had seen Magnotta board a bus to Berlin from Paris on Friday night.
