  1. at this point she's in a difficult place -

if she postpones the already once postponed tours in the U.S to come back to Europe - that'll piss everyone off,

if she doesn't - she won't be back in Europe for another 6 month and, unless she gets those tickets up on sale ASAP...people are gonna be doing other stuff

No way is she rescheduling the Europe dates. That ship has sailed. Her comment was to just save face.

  2. Casual, yes... But she's still got that nostalgia factor. I mean you can't beat old school Janet. -_- And at this point.... Everything up to AFY is old school.

She should have nostalgia but her old school stuff hasn't been properly promoted. How can people be nostalgic for things they don't even remember?

I mean, Cyndi Lauper, A-ha and Culture club stream better on multiple platforms than her ffs.

To be fair, I am a pessimist but my point still stands.

  3. Shots fired. :o

It's true Beyoncé is more relevant today. But she's been extremely smart about creating anticipation and making every move "stop the world." -_-

LOL. I'm not trying to bash JJ but it's the truth.

Her status has dropped to that of a one hit wonder. Most of her casual fans have moved on.

  4. I hate to bring up the B word but Janet could learn about PR from Beyoncé. She communicates with her fans through what she releases, videos, photos, etc. while bypassing traditional media and maintaining an air of aloofness and enigma. When was the last time Beyoncé did an interview? She doesn't anymore. She controls how "Beyoncé" is distributed, on her terms and on her schedule.

Janet could do the same thing. She doesn't need to be on Good Morning America or Ellen for people to feel her presence in the media. I see some effort on Janet's part to do that, but there are so many opportunities she's missing. Being in the driver's seat now on her own label she really should be designing the entire "Janet" brand in a truly 360 way, taking full of advantage of having broken away from the old model of doing things on a big label.

    That's all. :coffee:

Janet doesn't have the fan base of Beyonce nor is she as reliable in my opinion.

  5. why has it taken 4 days to come up with that one line?

and why does she keep quoting song lyrics to us rather than just talking to us like adults?

She's probably waiting for this whole thing to blow over.

  6. Read that again. That is NOT what I'm saying. Im SPECULATING that Janet simply dosen't need us. This isn't a project exactly for her fans. That may be the reason she's so distant, and hasn't done anything other than touring, and releasing an album.

You don't think this is for the fans? That's interesting, you're the only person i've seen say that.

  7. Ok can we just stop blaming "her team?" Janet has been in the game long enough to call the shots. She simply dosen't give a fuck. She dosen't need her fans. She's married to a billionaire, she has her own money, therefore, she dosen't need us. This is play money for her. She's definitely not taking this era seriously, and she's not concerned with how it plays out. Maybe this is a big fuck you to some of her fans for the "Weekend" and "Superbowl 2004" outrage.

She's not into it. Unfortunately, she dragged us and reeled us in, and pretty much is just laughing her way to the bank. This has ben the most pitiful era. Austin called this one out from the beginning. I really thought Austin and I were going to have our usual legendary wars through this era. Instead, Game is pulling any idiotic excuse for a crappy era, out of his asshole, and I'm at war with him. Oh how times have changed.

So, because Janet married a billionaire, she shouldn't care about her own career and reputation?

  8. Promote her back catalog? LMAO who is going to pay for her to promote old music?

These fantasies remind me of Bernie Sanders. Empty, expensive with no way to fund it

She's not humiliated :umm: . Why are you?

Anniversay albums don't really sell much unless the artist has passed away

YES YES YES promote her back catalog. Instead of wasting time and money on new material that won't sell well:

    • Get an itunes banner for control/rhythm nation/janet.'s anniversary's OR do a re-release with some new songs, demos and commentary and go that route
    •  some spotify ads to get that streaming up
    •  remaster the music videos for 2016 and upload them ALL onto vevo cohesively
    • remaster and post old performances from her prime onto vevo so new generations that ARENT familiar with her performing prowess can see for themselves how amazing she was without having to dig
    • Make sure all of her links (Twitter, spotify, itunes, etc) are in the description boxes of ALL of her videos to cross promote
    • Upload her MTV icon special and other tributes so that people remember her past achievements

These are all things SHE can do for herself but has not. It's as if she doesn't care.

Agree to disagree. The Super Bowl is still valid. Americans pushed her aside when she showed her boob.. White American especially... Pop America.. They saw it as desperation for attention and began to ignore her. They saw it as a failed publicity stunt that kinda backfired in Janet's face YET inspired the creation YouTube and new English phrases that will live on in the history of the English language.

She has yet to get back to 2003 status but I don't think she wants to anymore. And she doesn't have to as long as she keeps releasing amazing music. That's how her career is defined. Not by tours.. Not by her tour cancellatiosn. But by the music. <<< that's what makes history

They did, in 2004, but now it's 2016 and there are calls for Janet to be apologized to ANNUALLY. The GP knows she was screwed over. She has since been to AND performed at the AMA, VMA and was recently tributed at the BET awards. Has been on major talk shows such as Oprah and the Today Show. Janet is the one neglecting her legacy, the industry isn't just ignoring her imo. She's not promoting herself enough.

I hate people are gonna remember her legacy like this cause i've said this since the era started, I feel like this is the last album and tour she's gonna give the world. I've even had friends ask me when I saw her last year in San Francisco "Hey Joe do you think this is her last album?" and I actually said "Yeah I do". The message is loud and clear in the songs. "Take Me Away" she wants to get the fuck away from everything, "The Great Forever" she's doing her own thing and she says "LUTFA" leave us the fuck alone (her and Wissam), "Well Traveled" she's done all that she wanted and traveled the world and now just wants to live in peace. Especially when she says "I don't know where this journey will end but the world keeps calling me." That's us...she was done already but we kept calling for her to come back. Anyway

If this is really how she feels I would rather her have retired from making new music and start promoting her back catalog for new generations consumption. Instead of having to go through all the humiliation (and wasted money!) this era has been.

Control should've recharted this year for the 30th :(

  10. Her career is cemented in Legendary status. This will NOT affect her chances getting into the RRHOF. This will not affect her chances at the 2017 Grammy's or any award show (not that those matter)

People will forget. And HOPEFULLY, "fans" will eventually move on. But I'm not going to stand by and watch fake fans bad mouth Janet bc they mad. You have every right to be upset if you bought a ticket. You don't have a right to diss Janet Jackson on her forum

If her place is "cemented" then why is her career so poorly documented?

  11. Nah.. Y'all just mad she canceled some dates in Europe... its not that serious.. didn't even trend on FB/Yahoo!

If Janet released a new xyz tomorrow.. You'd listen to/watch it.

She canceled ALL of them. The entire leg of a tour. Not just some. Three weeks before she was due to perform with no warning or comment. Stop minimizing.  She's reinforcing detractors opinions of her. That she's local, etc.

  12. The upkeep of Janet's career and legacy going into the digital era (ESPECIALLY RECENTLY) has been so piss poor it deserves it's own thread. Her camps behavior is highly frustrating. It's as if who ever is managing her catalog didn't know how to transition so they let her years of hard work blow into the breeze. This era is just another nail in a bigger coffin. Her credibility has been tarnished.

  13. I think they were caught off guard by the cancellations,  frankly. She was recently posting videos about how much she's looking forward to London, Glasgow,  etc. Now this. Team Janet is probably humiliated by this.

I think you're on to something. They're basically burying their heads in the sand. Surely, if the cause was poor ticket sales after all, there would be some warning signs a lot sooner than three weeks. Right?

  14.

    She didn't cancel

Youre WAY too invested in this. Like LawdToday and J... All three of you are Americans who haven't purchased a ticket for the Euro tour. Maybe you should back off the questioning like it effects you.. Bc it doesn't :umm: If you're that upset and not trolling, then I think you should find something else to bitch about.. Like the fact that Donald Trump could be your president

How am I "way too invested" in anything? I commented twice. It doesn't matter if i'm not European, have you considered the poor word of mouth? She's gained a reputation for this. Who's going to bother seeing her anywhere if they think she'll just cancel?
