  6. I have just seen some video footage of Janet at MTV, she looks good and happy ?
  7. True, the vast majority of mental health sufferers don’t do drugs. But then again you don’t do drugs if you are happy. So maybe people who choose to take drugs are just self medicating for underlying issues, the Debarges being prime examples.

The house has now been sold to Robbie Williams and his wife http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-5982943/Robbie-Williams-Ayda-Field-splash-21million-sprawling-Malibu-estate.html The house, which also hosts a private path down to the beach, was leased by Janet Jackson in the early 2000s, and the couple have now snapped it up from Netflix executive Ted Sarandos.

  10. TMZ Janet Jackson's call to police over the weekend and the stories that followed are connected to her custody trial with Wissam Al Mana, but she's not the one stirring the pot ... according to our sources. Janet's London custody case is contentious ... not because either parent thinks the other is unfit. Our sources say Janet's having trouble because she wants 1-year-old Eissa in the U.S. with her. Problem is ... Janet chose to move to London to be with Wissam and that's where Eissa was born. It was her decision to move back to the U.S. after they broke up, and that may be giving Wissam the edge. Janet was indeed upset with Wissam over the weekend and we've learned she called the cops twice -- once on Friday and again Saturday. Thing is ... it was all about Wissam not making Wi-Fi available to Janet's nanny because cell service was spotty in Malibu and Janet wanted communication. Stories initially surfaced that the nanny became frightened by Wissam's "aggressive behavior." The way the initial story went ... she was "terrified by his behavior and locked herself in a bathroom so she could contact Janet." That story did not come from Janet ... it came directly from her brother, Randy. Sources connected to the former couple say Randy is fanning the flames of conflict to help Janet gain an edge in her custody case. They say her call had nothing to do with a terrified nanny. It was all about cell phone service, although she did drop a reference to drug use. We're told cops went out and were literally there only a few minutes before they realized nothing was wrong and told them to deal with the cell phone service issue themselves. One source told us Janet and Wissam each respect the other as parents and Randy has inserted himself to no good end.

  13. TMZ update 6:24 AM PT 6/4 -- Law enforcement sources tell us Janet expressed she was worried Wissam was using drugs around her child.
  14. Law enforcement checked on the welfare of Janet Jackson's one-year-old with Wissam Al Mana over the weekend after the two got into a disagreement, authorities say. Public Information Officer Deputy Tracy Koerner said the singer called for help around 9:55 p.m. PT Saturday. Approximately five minutes later, deputies arrived at the Nobu hotel in Malibu where Jackson's son Eissa was present with his father. Per Deputy Koerner no arrests were made and the incident stemmed from "an argument between Janet and the baby’s father." Jackson's brother, Randy, told Entertainment Tonight that Jackson dialed 9-1-1 after a nanny grew fearful of Al Mana's aggressive behavior. Randy told the outlet the nanny "locked herself in a bathroom, so she could contact Janet.” Jackson and Al Mana wed in 2012. Reports of their split broke in April 2017 months after their son was born. Randy previously described Jackson's union to Al Mana as "quite an abusive situation" in an interview with People magazine last September. "It came on later in the relationship, verbal abuse and being (made to feel like) a prisoner in her own home." he claimed. "No pregnant woman needs to go through being called a (expletive) every day." USAToday
  15. It has to be this year, I can almost feel it! Attention, Rock Hall Of Fame: Janet Jackson's Time Has Come Forbes Magazine Actually, Janet Jackson's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is long overdue. Fellow '80s pop pioneer Madonna was inducted in 2008. Brother Michael was inducted in 2001. Prince was inducted in 2004. Meanwhile, a host of less deserving artists have managed to find there way in. I won't name names, but here's the list. Obviously, there is a great deal of taste and subjectivity involved here, but in terms of cultural impact, it is hard to make the case that many of these acts are more significant than Janet. Billboard certainly understood that when it honored Janet Jackson as just the seventh recipient of Billboard Music Awards’ Icon Award last week. Held at MGM Garden Grand Arena in Las Vegas and broadcast on NBC, Janet performed a rousing medley of hits — including “Nasty,” “If” and “Throb" — before delivering a powerful acceptance speech against abuse and the increasingly belligerent nature of our public discourse. Why has Janet yet to make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Some continue to deploy the stale argument that she's not a rock artist, ignoring the fact that the Rock Hall has long since given up on the often racially-coded exclusion by "genre." "Rock," at least in theory, now includes all strands of popular music, including R&B, jazz, folk, country, and hip hop. In recent years, we have seen inducted such non-rock artists as Tupac, The Beastie Boys, Hall and Oates, and Donna Summer. Others have cited the fact that she is more a "pop creation" than a songwriter. Yet while Janet certainly benefitted from the talents of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, so did Michael from Quincy Jones, so did Prince from the Revolution, so did the Beatles from George Martin, and on and on. For those who have actually followed her career, Janet has played an integral role in all facets of her dynamic artistry: not only as a songwriter, but also as a producer, director, dancer, choreographer, and performer. Another tired rationale is that the infamous backlash to "Nipplegate" is responsible for Janet's exclusion. Put aside for now the blatant sexism associated with that backlash. Put aside also what the incident revealed about America's ridiculous, puritanical hypocrisy. But are we really saying the Rock Hall has an issue with artists who have faced some kind of controversy in their career? Here's the list again. Many of these acts have faced controversy of far more consequence than Nipplegate. The other irony, or course, is that at one point this was one of rock's primary reasons for being: to provoke, to surprise, to push boundaries. So let's look at Janet's case: She ranked No. 7 on Billboard’s 2013 list of Top Artists in Hot 100 History. She has 27 Top Ten hits. She has three of the most influential albums of an era (Control, Rhythm Nation 1814, and janet.), as well as some of its most iconic music videos. She has sold an estimated 160 million records. And she has influenced hundreds of major artists over multiple generations, including Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, and Janelle Monáe. During the 2018 Super Bowl as the hashtag #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay organically went viral on social media, Questlove made his own case for the pop icon. "I’m using my platform for #JanetJacksonAppreciation day for a slightly different reason," he wrote Hopefully Questlove's influence as a voting member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame finally rights this wrong. As last week's performance at the Billboard Music Awards reminded, Janet Jackson is an icon in every sense of the word. It is time she is recognized as such in Cleveland.
