  2. Right I'm interested in seeing where GaGa's career goes because she has so much potential. But so far she's only gotten odder--less fun and more into herself. She says what she does is art but the symbolism behind it is always very literal. She panders to younger angsty gays who don't have the confidence to fend for themselves. And she keeps recycling the same silly stage props over and over. :tsk: You know what would REALLY shock people? GaGa in jeans with a mic and a guitar player. And a dash of humility. I appreciate her support for the gay community, though. Many people like to paint her as a villainess who takes advantage of fags all over the globe. While she clearly does it in part to sow a lifelong fanbase and for media attention, the fact that she does it at all is good enough for me. We need as many vocal supporters as we can get.
  3. I think GaGa is more over-the-top ridiculous. She makes everything a little CORNY and campy. The whole paws up monsters thing? Madonna never crossed that line. She was always more pretentious, more cool and composed. She would never let her fans know that she loves them and that's why we love her. GaGa puts on a facade of outspokenness, but behind the flaming pianos and heel-less platform shoes, the message she's pushing is not nearly as divisive or bold as the things Madonna used to say. That goes for music as well which of course GaGa is very new in and her efforts are no more generic than Madonna's early records were.
  4. Madonna has done just as much as Janet. I don't care if you hate her. She's made an even bigger impact on pop culture. She took more risks than Janet. Everyone followed Madonna. Britney is NOT praised as much as Beyonce. Em and Jay IDK. I don't follow their careers very closely. I know Eminem sells more, always. But Jay has gotten huge industry respect recently. He's more of a media mogul. Rihanna and Taylor I agree with. Taylor keeps making the same album. At least Rihanna is trying new things every time. Taylor straightens her hair and gets an A for her shitty AMAs performance. Rihanna puts everything into it and they still say she fell flat. I'm not even a Rihanna stan but she deserves more.
  5. I know you didn't, I was conscious of my post coming off that way so I tried to make it sound like I agreed with you. I do.
  6. I bet GaGa doesn't have the CAJONES to do something like Erotica or the SEX book. I know, totally irrelevant to your point, but I had to nit-pick that part at the end.
  7. I can't believe you're accusing a bunch of Janet Jackson stans of being racist.
  8. I'm not even a "vocalist gay," it always annoys me when people judge singers based PURELY on the strength of their voices. But I completely agree with you. It is what I was thinking earlier today, in fact--everyone sounded like shit last night. Rihanna was very entertaining and good by her standards, but why do I have to qualify that compliment? Shouldn't she just sound good all the time? Why is Taylor Swift's voice so painfully thin? You think Janet's voice is thin, lmfao she has nothing on Tay-Tay. And at least Janet can sing on-key. That was the biggest disappointment of the show. Even the better voices were pitchy and grating. Ugh. You wanna know what really grinds my gears?!?!
  9. Monica was a HUGE star in the '90s, much bigger than Ciara at her peak. Her vocals let her capture an adult audience which is who bought her latest album. Ciara can't have the adult audience. I love her (I'm the 1 "interested in her new album" vote ), but she's done. Kids don't care about her at all. Only young adults who were there when she got big in '04/'05 know who she is. She's definitely the new Ashanti--quick and lethal rise to stardom, moderate success shortly afterwards, and then a freefall into irrelevance. Ciara has no charisma. Her voice is really not good at all, as much as I love songs like "Promise" and "High Price." IDK. She really looks like a tranny too.
  10. I know, I'm reacting to that I think it's a good thing and a smart business decision.
  11. I'd rather she did smaller venues because she'll sell them all out, rely less on stage theatrics and make a tidy profit without gorging fans. I'm totally going. I didn't go to the Rock Witchu tour because I was 16 at the time and I didn't want my parents/friends to question my sexuality
  12. Because she hasn't promoted any of them. GHMP and Blackout got NOTHING while Circus got like 3 performances. Why can Bey only get 2x platinum from 500 awards show performances? Why is it that GaGa's lowest-selling single from The Fame Monster was featuring Bey? Why is it that Bey doesn't appear on the top 100 biggest singles of all time except for GaGa's song which wasn't even a huge hit by GaGa's standards?
  13. Toni and Paula's declines were worse. And I think Mariah's flop slide from Rainbow to Glitter/Charmbracelet was just as bad.
  14. Like I said, IASF did 2x Circus, from 50x the promotion. And the 3.5M number is old while the 7M number is not official so that's being generous. I loved the IASF era, but you can't say Britney caught Beyonceitis when she caught some other thing that made her stop working as hard. Diary and DIL sold, like, the same B'Day definitely sold more then As I Am though, I had thought that sold 6+.
  15. Alicia and Britney? Britney promoted Circus for a week and still sold almost 4 million worldwide. Beyonce kept promoting and shooting music videos for an entire year and sold 3 million more. 50x promotion = 2x sales Alicia... didn't As I Am outsell B'Day? And for an album with no pop hits, The Element of Freedom did extremely well.
  16. Yeah right when she died her hair blonde. You can all stop hating. She is a bad bitch. She's just a flop. But it's ok. This song is hot. It's very K-pop, which makes sense--if her black side isn't giving her anything, it's time to switch.
  17. I was gonna say "and then Bianca came out" but I didn't want to lay the shade on too thick. "Good Good" is the shit btw.
  18. Did you know that her debut album opened at #1 with the biggest first-week sales for any debut album ever and I think she also had a #1 hit song at the same time or something I don't know WHAT happened.
  19. I loved it. She said "every time you need me, come hold me," though. I didn't even think that line was hard to distinguish in Janet's song.
  20. It's all based on chart statistics I think so no explanation needed. Janet isn't even purely R&B like MJB so I'm very happy with her placement.
