Hard to say. Unbreakable is definitely her best since The Velvet Rope, and the fact it more or less got rid of the interludes (except for just the one) works in its favour, but I think 20+ years of listening, history and sentiment won’t allow me to place it above TVR.

Yep that definitely makes it difficult in making it fair

  I messaged Bu and Selz, they both met Paul. You just never know what's going on in a person's life. Paul was a very attractive man, and he was strong willed on here, I just wish he was still alive, to crack jokes, diss, laugh, cry, love do all the things and see all the things there is to see. Its just sad to hear, I know Ive had some not so great moments, but I think about how my actions will affect others, besides if things go south, I usually unplug anyway and keep to myself ....RIP Paul :(

thank u...i wanted them to know in particular

  4. 'A little update...

So it turns out a "frenemy" of mine I went to school with was Pauls half brother. I knew Pauls surname was Drummond and then eventually gathered they were related...I thought cousins. However, I met with a mutual friend (of mine and frenemy) this eve. I'm sad to tell you all that the cause of his death was suicide.

It really hit home with me. I've been close to the edge of doing something similar in the past, but never have. I know its been echoed in the thread, but many of us have been connecting here over years, some have met, some not. But there is a common bond...the love of our Queen. I'm a bit in my feelings at the moment,  but id like to think I could try and help somebody. Maybe some cant be helped...and I don't know what the circumstances were with him. But he seemed to have such a zest for life...you would never think, but you just never know.

I guess what I'm rabbling on about is I hope nobody feels so low, so alone that they would need to do that. I know its only this forum, but if anyone can help, even just "talking" on here, let us know.

How is that an issue? Didn't Janet perform in some small and some bigger venues with SOTW? Other artists with big staging also do it, and it works for them. 💁🏻‍♂️

I thought the stage tended to be smaller in smaller venues. I think of the venues I work at here in the UK. Imagine having a  Metamorphosis or RWU show and trying to squeeze it into a theatre throughout your tour. Im not an an expert but sounds costly and a logistical nightmare

They could go the Unbreakable-route. Release Euro-dates right after the album release. 10 to 15 shows all across Europe in venues with 5,000 to 15,000 seats. She has 6+ months to sell tickets, and some promo will definitely help. People KNOW she's an icon. And even if the shows don't sell out: no big deal. Mariah Carey's last show in Amsterdam only sold 3,000 tickets of the 15,000 available ones and there was no big deal about that at all.💁🏻‍♂️

How do u make a show that could work in a 5000 capacity and 15000 capacity venue? I've never heard of an artist doing that?

Exactlyyyyyyyy Now if they said Beyonce vs Mariah....ppl would kinda be like..."oh shit...Mariah got a lot of hits..idk Beyonce" .... Thats my point...Mariah's team does a great job in letting the public kno WHO TF MARIAH IS AND WHAT SHE HAS ACHIEVED. Thats why it makes no sense that ppl dont kno janet has tons and tons of hits. If Mariah can thrive through the culture..janet aint got no damn excuse. Let these youngins kno why they should bow down

It reminds me today, I was talking to the decorator who has been in my house this week and he told me his name was Eissa! He was like it means Jesus, I was like " I know ☺️ do you know Janet Jackson?

    *blank face*

    JANET JACKSON

    *blank face*

    Michael Jackson? Its his sister...

"oh  I think I've heard of her"

Granted, he's Afghani and probably around 27, but I would have hoped for some vague knowledge 😆

Come on, we both know how everything's changed. It's not 1998 anymore. Velvet Rope kicked-off in Europe and was a tremendous success. Of course she could've announced European dates first, but it's tricky as well after so many years. Unless she would perform in smaller venues: stadiums is a bit too ambitious. I guess 5,000 to 15,000 seat venues would totally work for Janet over here. If her touring record would've been more consistent over the last 20 years, stadiums would've been possible.

I hear what your saying and agree but you are either perform in Europe or not. Had they not established venues? Or your're thinking they wanted to see how the album sold? I mean that's a huge gap between 5000 and 15, 000 seat venues 😄

  9. 21 hours ago, Jakob said:

Thanks haha. As usual, artists don't announce all the dates right away. The European dates were probably just weeks away. She also said it on Fallon: "These are just the States" (talking about the world tour).

Then you know what...state your European dates FIRST or at least together with the US dates cuz it now just feels like we are constantly being led on.

and what's weird to me with that is why after all this time is she finally deciding to focus on Europe although its a great idea? I mean she should've kept them on her mind whenever she considered touring because that's where she started with the first leg of her Velvet Rope tour and all her dates sold out. That should've told her something

    Alot has changed since then.

Janet and Europe ...idk why thats such an estranged relationship ..its something behind the scenes that i dont think we're privy to. You go to Europe to do a festival  but you wont tour over there. It makes me think is the demand a.lil shaky over there or what? Why has a Europe leg been put on ice for so many years. It has to be a business reason that we dont understand

It is . There is one thing not being present with your music, but she is also not a bold personality/always in the media. Out of sight, out of mind. Also, Janet was not a child star here (they never showed Good Times in Europe, though in the UK we got Fame and Different Strokes). She arrived in the 80s after Michael so its always been "MJs baby sister". Her big hits didn't start until the Janet album.

I guess Glastonbury was the UK tour 😌 I genuinely think they thought her fans around the UK/Europe would splash out to see her there (hence keeping the deep cuts). Then she did Switzerland. Maybe she was testing the waters to see how responsive people were?

    2. Mariah is a different "animal" because her fans are united, we have division on things :umm:

    3. The most factual statement made here, is true, her legacy is NOT being preserved. Which begs the question of what did Janet Jackson the entertainer want to leave behind?

I hear the frustrations here, and I acknowledge there is a problem with how Janet is managed, but in the end it comes down to her

What division do you think there is...or maybe I shouldnt ask 😆

I know it sounds morbid and I didn't want to say it, but I can imagine her thinking "when im gone, they will realise my legacy...that's enough"

Her priorities now are completely different with Eissa being first, everything else is secondary.

This! I also definitely believe there was a time where Janet got cocky, just like most artists when they are huge, and thought her name alone would sell records, tickets, get good ratings, etc. which in part was true but that's not all that will work for you. For example, here's something that in my eyes started during the All For You era, Janet knew she was still hugely popular and that her album would do good numbers in sales worldwide whether she toured overseas or not. She had no interest in resuming the tour for her fans overseas so she didn't even when it was safe. We head on over to the Damita Jo era and still no tour for anyone, not even for her fans overseas. Then we go to the 20 Y.O. era. Once again no tour for anybody in America or overseas. Let's go to The Discipline era. It's now been 7yrs since you haven't toured for your fans. I think when the numbers for her tickets sales came out it showed her that although she's a Legend and Icon that her name can only do so much and ended up cancelling the tour.

Now we're in 2010. By then her Legacy diminished so much she had to resort to going on American Idol to show the world she was still a bad bitch. The world seeing how great she was ended up buying her American Idol performance so much that it shot to no.1 on Itunes. Let me say it again, a performance on a tv show shot to no.1 on Itunes. I'd never heard of it before but Janet did it. Her and her team made a smart move which was to start a small intimate tour. We know it was done small on purpose to see how those tickets would do and rebrand her name and legacy. By the end of 2011 she ended up having a sold out tour that started with 35 dates and due to demand ended up with 71. Her legacy was up and running again.

I'ma make this paragraph short. 2015 no Unbreakable tour for her fans overseas after cancelling. 2017 resumes tour with now new name "State of the World" and once again leaves her overseas fans out of the picture. We get to 2019 and we get the "Rhythm Nation 30th Anniversary Tour" and sorry but once again our fellow overseas fans are left out. 2020 and here it is about another Decade of her overseas fans not seeing her. Most of them gave up on her. Sad but a lot of them have stated so.😞

Thank you for seeing it from OUR side! She has not toured here since 2011, for 13 years prior to that! Seeing her in the US in 2015  was my first and so far last time seeing her live. Thats why I said the lack of communication really frustrated me because the UB tour never got rescheduled and its never been acknowledged since, whilst touring the US several times. I sometimes wonder if you realise how spoilt youve been over there  Some people say she is a "local" entertainer and looking in  from here, I understand where theyre coming from. The number of shows she aimed for in Europe shows she/her team are out of touch, thinking her name alone would sell. Its not the 90s now.

I actually know 2 ppl close to Janet's camp..

And i recently asked them individually what is goin on behind the scenes. The first person (who is a background singer to the stars and is friends with ppl in Janet's camp) said before the virus hit that Janet was INDEED working on a documentary and it was to include a never-before-seen kind of prep for the Black Diamond World Tour - rehearsals, the sessions for the new music + all the historic stuff. A lot of it was going to be filmed in real time. He said he didnt know how far they had gotten before the pandemic but her rollout was about to be colossal. He said he kept prying for info over time cus they were tryna keep it top top secret and they had finally gave him those tid bits.

The other guy who is a janet stan and is cool wit Janet's camp exclusively said he and other friends had been contacting Janet's team to try and get them to do more and push her legacy more..and he said her team was juss not that interested becus Janet doesnt seem to be worried about it. He said the team pretty much didnt feel Janet is involved and hands on in wanting to ravish in her legacy. So he said he and his friends had finally gave up wit tryna talk to Janets ppl and get them to do more becus no one in her camp isnt motivated cus Janet simply doesnt care. So idk what is goin on with Janet its almost like she a completely different person these days.

When has she ever cared about the extra shit? The amount of love/support she does clearly received for years is enough for her. I guess she feels her legacy is cemented. She has never cared about figures and she always looks embarrassed when accomplishments are brought up. In saying that, though im not an expert, it would probably require limited effort to set these things in motion.

    48 minutes ago, janetDAYZ said:

The reason its important to ppl is becus Janet for most of her career has always been UNRATED to a certain degree and we ALL know this. I think when we have factual stats and accomplishments it supports the argument of why Janet DOES belong in some of the conversations of the BIGGEST POP ACTS EVER..cus even tho WE know she is one the most influential and biggest the general public doesnt quite know that and thats why she has had this unrated umbrella over her head for a long time. I have literally seen articles talk about MJ, Madonna, Whitney etc...and Janet's name NOWHERE to be found..as if she didnt make as much of an impact and its boggling to me. So yes..certifications and all of that matters in Janet's case.

I hear you but also get why she has no interest. Im sure she has said more times than once that when a project is done, its done! She isnt looking back, focusing on what she sold. Its like ok, whats next and i hope they enjoy it. I mean it took her long enough to perform unreleased songs on tour because fans wanted it...so maybe one day she might do it for the fans.
