an album doesn't have to fly off the shelves in America to sell ww but Whitney had no hits on that album period. Janet on the other hand did, she just didn't use them in the beginning so i'm not surprised at TVR selling 10 million. Whitney's album i'm very surprised.

huh?????? Had no hits????? Joe. Sir.

"Heartbreak Hotel" reached #2 on Billboard 100 and went platinum! Lol how was that not a hit??????

"Its Not Right but Its Okay" reached #4 and it went gold. How was that not a hit?

"Your Love Is My Love" peaked at #4 and certified platinum! How was that now a hit??????

Hell i remember all those singles being in HEAVY ROTATION back then...i dnt kno what planet u were living on at the time. Those songs were all over radio.

Well it made her widely known globally and she was highly respected in the EU after that album. And TA is her biggest selling single of all time so I wouldn't call it a flop. Got till its gone sold like 10k in the UK. That's huge.

We all know tvr isnt a flop lol at the time it was considered one. Tvr ended dpin 10 mill ww or something like that. Ppl were calling it a flop at first cus of the slow sales but it picked up after TA and IGL

Let’s think of the times.. An album going #1 didn’t mean much in the 80s & 90s... Madonna didn’t have a #1 album in the 90s and that was her career peak

80s was Madonna's peak. She was struggling in the 90s and #1s ALWAYS meant something no matter what decade of music. Still means "something" today. Its just not the only way to determine what a successful project is.

  4. Oh, that mos def means something is in the works and on the way (at some point). I think she is still working on that netflix docu thing... cameras never stopped following her since she's started up this last era

It was certified at 4 million but it actually had only over 2 million in sales and yes it was considered a flop. A huge artist like Whitney selling only 2 million in the US in the 90s. Yup. Velvet Rope sold more than that

Thats no different than ppl considering TVR to be a flop (at the time) cus it wasnt selling like her previous albums...but in the grand scheme of things...TVR ended up not being a "flop".  At that point janet, mariah, madonna and whit werent selling MAJOR numvers like they did in the 80s to early 90s but the numbers they were doing in the late 90s were respectable.

And lets be clear.. Juss bc an album isnt flying off the shelves in america doesnt mean it wont sell in other markets. So i dont know why you are surprised it sold 10 mill ww. An album can bomb here but blown up in the UK. You think of MJ's "Bad" which didnt even hit diamond in the states during his peak but sold somewhere like 30 mill ww... Now THAT was a shock that Mike couldnt even get a diamond album post Thriller.

MLIYL could be considered a flop in the sense that it failed to reach the top 10, something surprising for someone of Whitney's stature. As one of her more soulful album, it did punch above the belt internationally.

We're not talking about chart position. If the sales ended up being pretty good for the era ...then NUMBERS dont lie. Whitney, was on par with her peers at that time saleswise. Madonna, Janet and Mariah all sold between 3-5 mill (in the states) with their latest projects at that time. Butterfly,Ray Of Light, Your Love Is My Love, and  The Velvet Rope sold around the same amount in the states. So whit was not flopping. Not too mention her singles were doing good on the charts.

Is Janet bi or not? She’s been talking in circles around this question for years. She never says she heterosexual. Rumors have been around about she and Tina or she and Shawnette, but nobody can confirm this. So is she really bi or just an ally to the lgbtq fam? I’m hoping she’s bi!

But she has said OUT OF HER OWN MOUTH that she is not gay. So thats basically saying she is hetero. Period

  8. Thats what i always thought was strange how Janet's songs performed well in different markets but may not have been embraced overall, globally. Its like "if its a hit there, then it was a miss over here." type of thing. It still strikes me as odd that it took for her to get to TVR era to produce such an international hit. Soooo many great singles between Control era - janet.era like how tf did she not have more hits across the globe? Like why didnt the RN era perform that well in the UK?

We never said she needed 4 costume changes for a 50 minute set. The outfits they wore were boring and dusty period so let's not lie and say they weren't. The Unbreakable tour was amazing and even tho Janet did just 2 costume changes she made up for it with how she fucked the stage up just like she does usually. She had much better production, danced more, and at least her costumes weren't that bad. Glastobury was a different story. Let's take away the bad mic feed, she had shitty attire, and she didn't dance as much. As much as we love Janet and hate to hear people bad mouthing her we gotta be honest with ourselves sometimes and realize we can't always have an excuse. Sometimes it's just what it is. Everybody who's a true Janet fan knows shes better than what she did at Glastonbury no matter how much time they did or didn't give her.:umm:

actually all of what you said is true and yes other fan bases do critique their faves. We don't critique everything Janet does. Nobody critiqued Global Citizens,MTV EMAs,  or Vegas. Y'all be saying that stuff just cause and we're so opinionated cause Janet has spoiled us. She's given us perfection when it comes to performing. Nobody could fuck with her in her prime and just last year when she finished SOTW tour so when she isn't giving us what we're used to then yeah we're gonna critique. It's not like it doesn't make sense. In our eyes she's the baddest female to ever entertain and we're gonna wanna see it that way until she's no longer with us.

I wasnt pointing fingers at anybody I actually included myself hence saying "WE" ...and it does seem like we critique every single thing about Janet. We seem to be more extreme than other fanbases from what i see. Its juss an observation which is MY OWN and you have yours. We def have been far more opinionated since Unbreakable era ...it is what it is. I know other fanbases critique their favs but with us...it could be silly shit like "why is the mic on her headset so big" ...

  10. I have never seen a fanbase to be so gotdamn critical of their fav 😂😂😂😂😂

    -her wig is fucked,

    -ugly costumes

    -hate her makeup

    -she's gained weight again

    - she lacked energy

    - why no big production?

    -FIRE GIL!!!

like, do other fanbases critique every strand of hair on their favs head like we do? Or am I tripping? I get ppl have opinions but my god.. Im really starting to realize how we are NEVER satisfied with Janet. Like...EVER

It's too bad 3T couldn't have longer careers. Taj did an interview and said that their mother's murder set them back a bit and they didn't receive a lot of backing from their label, partly because the label had issues with MJ, or something like that.

I coulda swore I seen some stuff about them tryna make a comeback or something not that long ago. Not that it was gonna be impactful as when they were out in the 90s (bc i heard they were huge in Europe at one point). And yeah alot of Janets neices and nephews do music but they dont seem to be mainstream which is odd cus you qould think their last name would grant them record deals like it aint nothing. They all seem to be underground/indie artists. Its quite a few of them that actually does music

  12. I really hated there was no prominent next generation Jackson act to keep their legacy goin...not that it hasnt already been carved in stone but juss to see the torch be passed on and for. the Jackson name to remain fresh in the music industry. Thanx alot 3T ...you failed us 😒

it's Europe though, and we all know Janet's rep over there might not be that great. I wonder is she a bit nervous? Probably not she already gave signs she didnt give a fuck about what people think on the cruise ship when she said "ya'll got anchors on ya feet?"  clearly shes not worried about the crowd

    Nervous????????? What?

While all these other artists such as Beyonce,Ciara etc...all say even til this day they still get nervous before each performance. Janet said she hasnt been nervous since the opening nite of the RN Tour.. Janet doesnt have those jitters like other performers. I highly doubt she's nervous and thinking "omg this is Europe...i hope i do well". Janet is gone treat that performance like any other VET performance

Not trying to take away anything from what you said but, Janet was already deemed a Legend at the World Music Awards before in 1999 when she won the Legend Award. Janet's contributions to music were way better and impactful than Beyonce's. Maybe that's why Dionne just doesn't see Bey as a Legend. Not many wanna call a thief a legend even if they are one lol

Bc she is not a legend. We are talking about the term "icon". Dionne said Beyonce wasnt an icon, i would have understood if she said she wasnt a legend bc its wayyyy too soon to be called a legend.

As far as the Janet thing..whether an award show deemed Janet as a legend in 1999, that was not the masses opinion at that point. Janet started getting the "legendary" treatment and title a lil later than that on a massive scale. Hell, Mariah is juss now starting to be deemed a legend.

Like i said Dionne is grouping two different titles together that are somewhat similar but def different.

I think Dionne knows the difference, she just knows that she isn’t a legend, and she doesn’t want to fall into the same iconic category as Beyoncé... Dionne being a legendary icon

Based on your stance of trying to defend Dionne's statement ...shes trying to group "legendary" and "icon" together and thats not fair. During A4U Janet was considered an icon by most but not a legend yet. And Im sure you agreed with that at that stage of Janet's career...so whats tge difference with Beyonce? If Dionne would have made that statement about Janet in 2001 im sure you would have disagreed with her..some shit is juss undeniable..
