The review of the show was good but it was embarrassing to hear that it was far from a sellout
Where did you get that specific info of "far" from a sellout? Look like it was a huuuuuge crowd. I hear it hardly ever is a completely sold out event.

Also never seen For a Colored Girls and have almost zero interest in doing so
But it has some of her best acting. Yall should know Janet's acting chops shine bright like a diamond when she has to do dramatic scenes.

Never even touched nor bothered getting the Number Ones compilation... always felt greatest hits albums were stupid and pointless. Purchasing music u already have in your collection juss bc its all on one cd? Greatest Hits albums make more sense for casual fans (imo) for obvious reasons

No sound tho

It always baffles me how celebs can be in certain public places sometimes and nobody cares... like do they not recognize her or how does that evem happen?

Had there been a "Control" tour... Do yall think it would have been as successful as the RN tour? Would she had been able to play arenas...or would she only been able to play theaters at that point? What do think?

1. the janet. Tour opening still this this day KNOCKS ME OUT THE FUCKIN GAME. It was the most electrifying opening ive ever seen. With her on that high screen and the fire coming up and the beat kicking in. The energy..the screams of the audience. MY GOD. GOOOSEBUMPS!!
2. The 87' Grammy performance. "Gimme A Beat" and BOOM!!!!! her and her dancers all in black opening that performance with that breakdown. Listen.. She DID THAT!! Then when she went into "Nasty" and her dancer grabbed her and she did that back flip!!! It was over for every bitch performing that nite. PERIOD
3. TVR tour.. When Janet had her solo during "Throb" at the end...and the way she came out of it and started running backstage to get ready for her next number.. Always gets me pumped! Its like a "GON GIRL!!" moment.
4. The nunchucks at the end of RN on TVR TOUR... listen listen listen!!!!!!!!! What girl do u know...can?....or has???....Shut shit DOWNNNNN
5. Sotw tour..the part where they were transitioning from WHYDFML to TPP...and her and her dancers were juss going CRAZY WITH THE CHOREO..and janet bending over whipping her long ponytail !

When it comes to skills and dancing ability these dancers are some of Janet’s best dancers in a very long time...the PROBLEM is not the dancers it’s the choreography that tends to be tailored to a toned down Janet.
If we’re gonna be honest, ASIDE from the energy of SOTW, Janet’s choreo hasn’t been as detailed. A lot of arms & hand movements & strutting…etc.
Go look up each of her dancers on YouTube in the dance studios. Allison doing Anaconda, & another Nicki song. The girl with the short hair on an August Alsina song. There’s quite a few. They have more ability than Janet’s recent choreo has called for.
Im not saying they arent talented dancers. I have seen other things they have done..and their abilities.. And youre right maybe it is bc of the the more "toned down" choreo. But they juss arent connecting to us like the RN janet. and VR kids.

So basically Allison is the Lizzo of the Jtribe.....chile
Allison is not a bad dancer but I honestly think that Janet keeps her around because Allison has the plug on Twinkies. 'Janet loves to eat' -Michael Jackson
Anywho, Denzel is my fav
Voodoo. I aint dealin witchu today
And at first i felt yall overhyped Denzel's sex appeal...but after following on IG this last year. HOMEBOY CAN HAVE ALL OF THIS

Wow. Lol i didnt know it was ppl that didnt care for Allison like that.
Ive been indifferent with Janet's dancers since the A4U era up til now. Pretty much interchangeable imo. The only 3 eras where her dancers were "standouts" were RN, janet. and TVR era. Since then they have been juss accessories

Its weird to me that yall be more worried about costumes than production
"Im fine with scaled back shows but UGHHHH THOSE HIDEOUS COSTUMES"
What???????????????????? Im sorry. The focal point imo is THE SHOW not no damn costumes. She could perform in a damn banana halloween costume throughout the who show...long as im seeing exciting shit take place...EYE CANDY is what its about imo. Lights, pyro, smoke...etc
But i will say like someone pointed out, janet has to be careful budget wise when it comes to production bc RWU tour showed she over spent and had problems recouping that money bc of how that tour was handled was a big mess..no promo and all kinds of problems. It was like some markets knew janet was coming and some didnt so her shows having major attendance issues. I truly believe thats why that was a short lived tour...she would have been in the red if she would have forged forward..it made no sense to go on with a tour and have this big ass expensive production but not making a profit cus its low attendance. Im still bitter about it cus i felt that was one time where Janet took a gamble and had that go big or go home mentality with the huge production but it didnt pan out for her bc the business side of that tour juss was in shambles. And it was 2 and a half hour show!!!! She really tried to bring it. That tour was destined to fail bc it kicked off having issues.

You are lying to yourself if you think production does not help Janet's performance. Janet is a visionary so I expect her to do visionary type tings....I've never been okay with basic Janet, I accept her but she does leave a bad taste in my mouth AND that's why I don't like Damita Jo.
#Boom
Lets debate hoes!
THANK YOU!!!!
Production can only HELP a performance...it can never hurt

I agree more visuals and production CAN make for a better show, but it doesn’t equal a better performance. I absolutely agree with the mention of Billboard proving that. That performance was big but underwhelming if were going to be honest.
SOTW was Janet’s best show since RWU in my opinion. As far as her performance value. The theme of the show. The set list. Her choreography AND her actually pull all those moves off. Her endurance. It was a much better performance ESP at her age bracket.
Both were underwhelming so it’s not a better or worse. It just had more ppl.
Number ones wasn’t a good show, and I’m no saying production value is useless I’m saying it’s not all Janet needs to make it a great show. When Janet is in her element she goes in & SOTW was her element - after her break up, she was on a mission & she achieved it.
Im not saying SOTW wasnt a good show....alot of fans were saying we missed the special effects. Sotw felt stripped down. That was a personal choice Janet made.. And thats fine. Like I said, there is no right or wrong answers...it all comes down to preference and personal taste i guess. Me, I like showmanship and production...while somebody like you may juss be satisfied with the endurance of a performer.

Billboard 2006, VMA 2009, Xfactor 2009, American Idol 2010, and EMA 2018 were all cool
Rock Witchu and SOTW win for tours hands down.
I know you are not saying SOTW is one of Janets best tours ever are you? Am I reading this right??????????

i think its just the times we're in now where production is more important than talent lol. I know that's not what you're saying but this generation is shallow.
Billboard 2006 was the perfect balance in my opinion
I dont think thats the case at all. You say "the times we're in today" .. production has always mattered but how a performer presented their show was always about their taste level. Somebody like Madonna who has limited talent but her production value has always been STELLAR which is why Madonna has always had sold out shows becus pll KNOW the visuals is what she has to offer. Madonna is crafty and artsy like that. I always said Madonna and Janet needs what the other one doesnt have. If Janet showmanship as a performer had the production value of Madonna...JANET WOULD BE IN A LEAGUE THAT NOT A SINGLE ARTIST COULD TOUCH IN A MILLION YEARS. PERIOD

I didn't think the outfit was that bad, even for 2009 standards. She's done worse. It wasn't that Janet wasn't putting effort into the performance, it was lifeless where her head a clearly somewhere else.
Janet actually danced her ass off on that performance but the way it was structured was all wrong. The problem wasnt Janet lacking energy or nothing cus she was ON IT ...the way the medley and choreo was put together was disjointed and quick...it seemed rushed and thrown together. Its soooo much she could have did to make that performance celebrating her #1s ...special.

I think the outfit ruined that one
Nah. It was juss basic..and the dry audience didnt help. Thats when she tried to copy & paste parts from the Rwu tour and condense it for a quick medley for an award show performance and it juss didnt translate well at all. She should have came up with all new choreo for that medley performance.

She doesn't need all of that. Number Ones was pretty basic, just like Unbreakable. People showed up because they wanted to see Janet rocking it!
Number Ones is her most forgettable tour. And Sotw was even more basic than Unbreakable...so whats your point?
Of course ppl are still going to go see Janet regardless but thats not the argument here. Stay on subject.

U must have missed my whole point......i made it very clear that Janet doesnt "need" it...i said special effects ADD to a show and makes it that much better. If you wanna juss see janet dance w her dancers...fine. I like seeing dancers and visuals.. Its all subjective. There is no right or wrong.

I have to agree. From choreography to costume changes Janet slayed SOTW. I can watch her beginning to end and get my life. Bigger production doesn't always mean better. Her Billboard performance showed that too much production can be a waste and distraction.
It was certainly better than her dry 2009 AMA medley performance

I did research and RNB FRIDAYS doesnt have the best reputation. Last year Usher headlined and it was many articles saying how the fans calledbit the WORST CONCERT EVER. ..they said everything surrounding the lineup, sound and performers was a mess. It wasnt sold out either. But its only been existing for 4 years so that explains alot...but i still saying having a crown of 20k - 50k is still a good ass crowd... Thats alot of ppl regardless
