  1. How about "Black Cat," "This Time," and "What About"? Those songs aren't extremely demanding but they do show that Janet can pull off a rock-influenced song. I think she did What About live at the VR Tour, or it could have been pre-recorded.

  2. Was that after The Spirit Indestructible:lol:

Nelly has really fallen off the map in recent years. She was so big from 06-07, but with Timbaland's sound being dated (a bit) and her being gone for so long, I think public interest in her has declined seriously. She usually gets big time work when she does "We Day" up here in Canada.

  3. I don't know why I haven't posted on this yet, but I'm a huge Janet fan and I joined this site in March of this year after looking through the whole place for about a week.

I love reading, writing, video games, Popeye's and just about anything that's fun. I was born and raised in Canada; my parents' background is Ghanaian.

I'm thinking of majoring in political science in Uni and minoring in writing/literature courses. Then I'll probably apply to law school.

  4. That's not evolution.   You realize what you said is why this era has gone the way it has.  You kind of proved my point.  Thank you. ^_^  Her husband is running thangs but like I said before I knew that when she had her backed turned at her birthday party in Paris.

I call what is happening in Mississippi problematic but others call it a joyous tradition.  So no one should tell those people in Ole Miss to change their no gays allowed law then since its their tradition.  All those protestors should just go back home.  Those people in Ole Miss love their tradition and feel whole with them.  Thats what you just said.

Martin Luther King wasn't a politician either.  He didn't rule over any laws and neither did anyone following him but they did not stand for it.  Nothing you mention can compare.  Beyonce has spoken out against flint. 50 cents has visited jails along and spoken about jails being over populated with black men.  Again you can show me the whole constitution.  We still have the right to say no and contest these laws.   No lies are being told here.  You want to defend this so much because this is Janet related.  Wrong is wrong and standing by wrong and not speaking against whats wrong is even worse.  Imagine how that woman he fired is living now with herself.  Knowing she was raped and cant do shit about it because of law.  Man made law.

Where are these photos? I've never seen them before.

  5. I was first introduced to Janet when I was three. My family would play the Control album and I fell in love! This was also the same time I started liking MJ as we had a lot of his music videos on VHS. I remember being so interested in the Bad and Remember the Time music videos. The love for Janet blossomed from there and I've been a fan ever since.

She became my fave as soon as the Control album finished playing. I'd beg my dad to play it over and over (he preferred Mariah's "Emotions" album) and get sad when he didn't.

  6. It's a tragedy that only Control got an AOTY nod. But I think it's because Control was her breakthrough album and it surprised everybody at the time that there was a Jackson other than Michael who could potentially stand on their own two feet in the business.

Still, it's an injustice that TVR didn't get an AOTY nod. I think the only Grammy it won was for the GTIG video. You can see that the Grammys were a lot less giving with their awards back in the 80's and 90's

  7. It can be hard to say because we don't have data to back up any arguments and some of the young ones are especially ignorant uncultured when it comes to the people who have come before their time. I do think that, in the music context (and probably the whole world of celebrity), Janet succeeds at being recognized by just her first name.

Like others have stated though, her last name will always be a part of who she is as a celebrity, and it's part of one of her most famous quotes. If most people do need to hear her last name in order to have an idea of who she is (they probably are young or don't know much about pop culture), I don't think that detracts from her as her own artist.

  8. This is such a hot mess! Janet's ability to possibly tour in the future will be unlikely now that her reputation is in shambles. The worst part of it all is that it appears to be her fault, for the most part anyway. Janet's drive to excel, be a trendsetter and one of the overall best entertainers ever has dwindled starting from 2004 (she still hasn't properly chronicled and archived her glory days on DVD and YouTube).

The last time Janet did an arena world tour and actually completed it was with The Velvet Rope tour in '98. Almost 20 years ago.

  9. I heard on my local news channel as soon as I got home. I thought it was another fishy postponement.

But after watching the video, and feeling a bit sad for a second, I'm really happy for JANET! I think she'll be a great mother; she gives off motherly vibes at times. I wish her all the best in the future.

P.S.: that video will probably be one of the last times we see or hear from Janet for at least a year, I think

  10. Yep.  She still gets standing Os when she does come out in public.  Tracee Ross just did Control on black girls rock and the crowd loved it.  The people are there it is time for her team to find a way to reach them. They tried the whole no promo thing and it did not work in the long run. I am not understanding the total silence right now.  Even her DJ putting that photo up of her in Dubai then having to delete it.  What the hell is that about.  This is the seating chart for her show on june 6 and there are many more that look like this.  A lot of them have the red dots which means people have returned their tickets.  Its really sad

It's extremely sad to have to look at something like this. This is JANET JACKSON we are talking about here. She should not be struggling so hard to sell tickets, especially with a career like hers. This alone should be a wake up call for everyone on her team. I mean, it's not even half filled, it seems. This is a date that's on the verge of cancellation, I feel
