During the last 10 years the global album sales have halved, and an end of the ride down is not in sight. Rihanna's current set 'Load' is still the best selling album, moved another 130.000 copies, but that's the lowest weekly figure for a no.1 album since nearly two years. In the week 05, 2009 Beyoncé's 'I Am...Sasha Fierce' topped with 99.000 copies. The same situation at no.2: there are still the Black Eyed Peas with 'The Beginning' and sales of 83.000 copies, also the lowest sales-level since the week 05, 2009, when the 'Twilight'-soundtrack occupied the no.2 position with 79.000 copies. Highest debut of the week is Sacramento's alternative rock band Cake. Their new effort 'Showroom Of Compassion' flies to no.14 with 46.000 sales. On the US-Billboard chart the album starts at no.1 with the tiniest figure (44.000) since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. Cage The Elephant, another american rock-act, bows at no.19 with 'Thank You Happy Birthday' and sales of 41.000 copies. The self-titled debut by the country dou Steel Magnolia opens at no.27 (28.000 copies). Japanese singer-songwriter and actress Maaya Sakamoto tops this week's Oricon chart, globally she lands at no.31 (27.000 copies). The final debut comes from the french singer-songwriter Nolwenn Leroy.
