Idrag4mj
So i just heard in the news that Janet announced her tour dates for south africa..was pleased actually tiil i looked up the venues and locations she was going to be playing and the ticket prices...and i couldn't help but feel sorry for the SA janet fans i have stayed in south africa for close 8 year..and let me tell you Janet is one of the most popular legends there..her videos and songs are on heavy rotation all the time if Janet wanted to fill a stadium in SA today she could .... i feel bad because for the sa fans because the ticket prices and the venue in Johannesburg the (Montecasino) only holds1800 people south africa is a developing nation ...very few people are able to afford the luxury of such steep concert ticket prices ..what im saying is that majority of Janet fans will miss out on opportunity to see her and just casual rich folks who have the money get the opportunity .. South africa like Japan is on of the few places that Janet Has been able to sell out stadiums ....to go from an 80k stadium to a 1800k hall is just ....even if this is supposed to be intimate why not pick a bigger venue with more affordable tickets .. Kylie minogue ...one of the most unknown foreign artists in south africa came and sold out five nights in durban and Johannesburg in venues seating 5-6k =25k total people ..ticket prices were very affordable . .. here's a quote from a fan on some sa sites Quote: I think the venues are small and will not do any justice to her fans. She could fill the whole Soccer City, and that would be a real show. Janet is only doing 6kpeople total with very steep ticket prices .. My point is south africa is not australia...and its very unfair to demand such prices limiting the number of people who can attend when you can play a bigger venue with affordable ticket prices ... ..i dont know if her team is ill-informed or what all i know is its not right
Mr. Wonder
It's the promoter who sets the prices, not Janet. Plus, what are the ticket prices, certainly they're not all $500 or whatever?
Reyna ♔
Agree with Austin. Plus, it is nice to see her take this tour to as many of her fans as possible. I'm cheering for her :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
janet.1814
well it's not like Janet wont come back....they said she's gonna do a bigger tour next time....so probably in a year or 2 when she releases a new album and a new movie, she will hit a stadium
Twistedvelvet
I agree with what's been said. Does she have to stick the the intimate rule all the time. She's not been there in 12 years. Janet is trending on twitter cause of the announcement but many of the tweets are just haters saying they don't care :-( What's going on!!? Ugh
lexus97
well we don't know the details behind the venue and prices. could be a lot of different reasons

Mr. Wonder
Well the Rodeo Houston, Iowa, and Indiana, she was asked to do those. There weren't actually part of the initial dates. Those ppl who are complaining are complaining about the prices of the VIP/front row tickets. If my memory serves me correctly, the prices for the non-VIP seats aren't released until after the pre-sale tickets. I'm sure the general admission tickets aren't high, and reasonably priced. Although Janet is a seasoned/veteran performer, her credibility outside of the US is shot, and high tickets wouldn't only do more damange. I think the promoter knows the state of Janet's career and not to try their puss with the ticket prices. Those ppl need to stop complaining and wait for the more affordable priced tickets to go on sale.

Twistedvelvet
The thing with this tour is, it's a test of the markets. She's keeping it safe with intimate venues. With each leg they will discover the demand for her again. Thankfully demand has been high and so should lead to an arena tour with the next album. Suprisingly the weakest market she's performed in so far is Europe. I was worried for the London dates at times. But in SA she is hughly successful. One of their biggest selling artists. She's had 10 no.1s there. Australia has received her well too. I think she needs a 2nd leg in Europe, to work on pushing demand there. It just baffles me how it works really. How can there be doubts that Janet could sell out an arena, and then we have Dolly Parton performing in front of 20,000 in Scotland this weekend of all places. Dolly Parton hasn't had a hit in decades nevermind a few years, and country isn't popular here. I think a lot of it is to do with pricing. I think its easier to convince non fans on going on a fun night out for 30 quid to see Janet, than convince them to come to see Janet cause it's 'Janet' for 75 quid. What's the point of building a whole new stage along with all the special effects for One arena/stadium show? More than likely she will tour again with a new album and a bigger budget..
