jarrylf Posted October 13, 2011 Share Posted October 13, 2011 The most common & popular knowlege about the 1 & only Rosie Gaines is that she was the lead female vocalists in Prince's New Power Generation, and sang lead with Prince on Diamonds & Pearls (and showcased her 5 octives) thats the song she's most known for it seems. But she has quite a few great solo albums, and she plays nearly every instrument, and like I said her vocal range is AMAZING. I personally think she's a better singer than Chaka (and I LOVE me some Chaka) but Rosies lower range is sooo powerful and soulful and so diverse, she can almost sound like anybody. Does anyone else feel this way? Yea I love NPG I think more than I love The Revolution, or maybe equally as much. At 3:23 she really starts sangin... Off-Topic Sidenote #1: I think Prince ghost-wrote this song. I mean her and Tevin were both his protegees.
