At this point, if there’s a new album on the way, “Made For Now”, can just be its own individual single. No need to pull a “Doesn’t Really Matter”. Won’t Saturday make it officially a year since it’s release! 😳😱😐

Oh no! I hope Made For Now will actually be on the album. Once the album is out MFN will be about 1.5 year old but it needs to be on it. It's definitely gonna help selling the album as it was pretty succesful.

I'm glad the admin did the right thing. Game had been banned from every other damn forum ages back for destroying any proper conversation and bashing differing opinions, resulting in a bullying and hate. This forum is nowhere near as bad as some others, especially the one Janet's team lurks. I've left all forums but this. It was enough for me to be called an idiot and straight up bashed for making a petition to reissue Janet's albums on vinyl, which was long overdue. 99% of the feedback I received was negative and I got ridiculed. Now those same people are ordering every single reissued album and spending their money on something I started. I didn't have Jimmy, Cinq nor anyone else behind me for that matter. Quite the opposite. Jimmy never gave a damn about reissuing anything, his email reply made that much clear when I asked him to share my petition. Now he is retweeting every single positive article on how well the reissues have done in the UK. Like whatever.

How did I make it happen? I knew who to direct my petition towards. Not Janet's team, especially not Jimmy and Def not Gil. Knowing Gil, he would've probably bashed the fuck outta me for even trying. I directed it at UMG that owns the rights to her music and who've done her best of releases so far. I knew they'd see an opportunity to cash in, so I went for it. A few blogs and papers mentioned the petition and here we are. I'll never get cred for making it happen, and I'm fine with that. In fact I can't even afford buying one of the vinyls myself. But it did happen and knowing that is enough for me. She made headlines by charting in the UK again due to reissues, and all the hate and "she would never do that/there is no market" bullshit has been proven invalid.

People like Game are toxic to this community. But sadly, her own team is a part of this kind of elitism and supports it. After Made for Now, some PR people of Janet's team contacted selected fans to hear their feedback on what they'd like to see Janet release and do. Selected group of fans. When I found out, I created a thread asking everyone's opinions and mentioned they actually don't even want to hear from all of us, just a few elite fans. That's insane and incredibly disrespectful. And YEAH I will get down voted for speaking the truth, as always. But it's still the truth.

Yep that's definitely true. And it's pretty funny how a simple e-mail can make big things happen.

A few months ago i contacted UMG as well and told them that RN is turning 30 in september and that a reissue with bonus tracks, demo's and a dvd of the tour would be the perfect moment. I also posted it on Twitter and UMe actually 'liked' the tweet. They basically only like tweets by official accounts of other labels and artists so yeah, let's see what happens next month. 🙏🏻🤣

There is a part of me that thinks "that" was our "concert".

She's warming up the world for her new album and world tour. People been asking me: "ugh, she's only giving us 1 show after she postponed the entire leg in 2016?" and I'm like "RELAX".

Janet and her team are just being very smart right now. 2018 was all about the icon awards and re-establishing her name and legacy and 2019 is a continuation of that. The re-releases of her 1986-2001 albums on vinyl, the Vegas residency, the worldwide festivals...

She's able to restore her relationship with the fans overseas and even gaining new fans. Then, in 2020 she can make a major comeback and tour the world with a proper world tour.

As an artist that stated for every album was her diary and has something to say.. that is not okay. Especially after the backlash she’s gotten from 2004. There’s a lot of shit she could have said in 2006.. She could have did was Beyoncé does and have camps of writers and ghostwriters but instead she chased hits with her boyfriend and kept up with sex a little too much (every song from every album from 2004-2008 was about sex/love)

Thank you @Lenzo88 for telling it like it is.. just watch what you say about Drake

Well, she's not obligated to. Right? Actually, I listened to 20 Y.O. a couple of times this week, and it's a fun album. It's a good album to dance to and overall, I think it's better than Discipline (but not better than Damita Jo).

...if you have not seen Janet's Vegas Show you have FUCKED UP BIG TIME!!!!!!

    LET ME SAY.

That fucking show snatched my fucking soul and anything left that I thought I still had in me. Youtube clips did that show no justice. EVERYTHING from the setlist to the arrangement to the segue ways to the mixes to the choreo to the sound to the fucking special effects to Janet attutude and fierceness.!!!

The youtube clips made u think Janet was being kind of pulled back dancewise.....when i tell you SHE WAS NOT FUCKING PLAYING. That show was a gazillion times better than i was expecting. Sitting in that audience and juss the energy in the building from her to every single body in that room felt like a fuckin religion. It felt spiritual!!!!!!!!!!!! That PRODUCTION PRODUCTION PRODUCTION PRODUCTION!!!!!!!!!!

I can not tell you how long i have waited for production like that from her. It def had HIGH PRODUCTION value...i might be tempted to say the closest in production she has had to this show is the Rock Tour...but this shit??????? Im on a high i dont wanna come down from...i was in a trance. And juss when u thought she was winding down the show...it was juss hit after hit after hit after hit. The audience was goin INSANEEEEE!!!!!

This show literally reminded me why i LOVE THIS WOMAN SO MUCH as a performer and an all around entertainer. This show needs to be seen by the masses. It was a complete show stopper. I SWEAR TO U. Aight im done had felt compelled to share my experience with yall...cus i know its always so many assumptions and this and that...but i was THERE and witness far beyond wtf i was expecting. PERIOD!!!!!!!!

I cannot for the life of me understand how they put that show together in juss 5 wks. It looks like somethinf that would have took at least 6 MONTHS! This goes to show u how much of a complete BEAST she is. We are not worthy. We juss are not! The nay sayers and debbie downers can go cry under a rock somewhere or something..shit idk go kick a couple of em while u at it..cus u havent even seen the show to TRULY judge the experience of the dynamics of the show.

This older black lady who was about 60 something years old kept yelling "one of the originals!!!!"

    I. Fucking. Loved. It.

YASS! I would love to see it. Actually, when I saw her in Montreux and was in her dressing room, Jan told me and the others that were with me we should definitely come to Vegas to see Metamorphosis. We were like "yeah sure lets do it!", but it's way too expensive for us... A DVD release would be amazing but that's not happening i guess

But that’s the thing! Janet shouldn’t have to sacrifice her art for a couple of “good bops.” So you’re pretty much saying, “I don’t mind if all her albums are great, I’ll love it anyway!” Huh??? I would think a fan n especially a stan would expect the best from their idol every time. Jimmy had every right to say what he said because he KNOWS Janet musically and as a person more than anyone! The reason she started working with them was to produce her music her own way and write about what’s going on in her life at the moment! Jesus, even Janet said verbatim, “That’s the only way I know HOW to write.” Accepting mediocrity from Janet is part of the reason we got “20 Y.0.” And “Discipline” as follow-ups. She was anything but inspired n that’s why she stopped making music by 2011! Not to mention, dropped all material she had started working on in 2009. Janet wasn’t feeling it anymore and was extremely tired of having “nothing” to say. I’d rather wait 4-5 years for another masterpiece like “Unbreakable” than every 2 year for a generic ass album that any drake artist can make. Isn’t that why we love Janet in the first place or am I wrong??? 😳🤔

Totally agree! I'm happy Janet takes about 3 to 4 years for an album. On the other hand, when 20 Y.O. came out, she actually said there was nothing in particular she wanted to talk about. "I don't wanna be serious, I wanna have fun". And that was okay.

I've never heard of anything from this rapper. I hope that whatever this ends up being, it'll sound good. I know we're so far off from an album, but do you guys see JJ/TL producing a track like this or would she seek different producers like she did with "Made for Now"?

Jimmy & Terry produced Janet's vocals on Made For Now so they could pretty much be part of the album.

Plus, last year Janet said she already had enough material for a full album, but I'm sure the project got pushed back when she was offered to do Vegas.

I just hope Bruno and Jan are doing a duet. Or maybe it already has been recorded.

This was about overall IMPACT.  Janet wins this one, hands down.

There are people out here still sampling her songs, still doing her iconic dance routines, still using her performance platform.  Don't get me started on her visuals.  Younger artists like Normani and Teyana Taylor still name checking her as an influence.

Whitney is impactful, but not as impactful as Janet(the whole spectrum of entertainment).

    THANK YOU.

Plus, Janet would have 2 diamond albums as well, but she needs to certify her albums. @Jay1230937

Anything that is subpar in comparison to 1986-2001 = trash

“Totally different” =/= “good” especially when it comes to Janet Jackson. and JALW wasn’t that different. Just lazy writing by Janet

Bc it was blacklisted in the States :umm:

Please stop acting like it's a fact that it's trash: it's just your opinion. I know a lot of Janet fans that love JALW and the Damita Jo album. Even compared to the 1986-2001 music, it's no trash in my opinion.

"Lazy writing" is irrelevant: most critics were positive and it was a catchy pop/rock song. Radio listeners don't care about lyrics; they want a catchy song. I understand though that FANS expect songs with deeper meaning from Janet.

  10. 19 minutes ago, Rock & Roll Hall of Game said:

You cannot compare a legendary song to some trash. That’s like comparing “WBT” (tho not first single) to “GTFO” (Mariah Carey). The sexuality wasn’t an issue in 2001. It was post-2001

Some people = hearsay... I need to see the stats which have failed to do so I did it for you. JALW wasnt headed towards anything in the US

We not talking world wide. We talking USA... obviously.

As you use the word "trash" a lot, I'm asking you: what is trash? Because to me, a trashy song is a terribly bad song i can't even listen to. JALW is totally different than anything Janet had ever done before and maybe that's why you don't like it (I could totally understand that), but calling it "trash" is far fetched.

How come the song did surprisingly well outside the US? If it such a trashy song, how come that most critics were positive?

“A” tv performance... no.. several and interviews, yes. That’s literally the point of promo tours :umm:  The single should all be great like AFY sans soag

It peaked where with radio? 60-something? I need actual proof that it was being played MORE than AFY... Where’s the data to support this claim (ignoring the fact that the Super Bowl controversy just happened, your opinion is just word of mouth from a few fans. JALW isnt as good or catchy as AFY which makes your claim far fetched)

Cool.. AFY isn’t the issue as it was one of her biggest hit bc it was fun, relatable, and catchy af summer... also one of her all time greatest songs. Comparing her biggest hit this century to Just a Little Trash or anything from 2004-2010 is a joke.

If you can’t blame Janet for the quality of her work then you aren’t blaming the right person. Damita Jo was weak and pointless... while Janet has been a sex icon, Damita Jo made her a sex fiend and it wasn’t a classic Janet album... and it turned cringeworthy and FAST especially after her planned Super Bowl boobie. Damita Jo has zero retrospect, zero personality.. zero substance. Her music was her diary but her diary turned into a snuff book real quick at 38 years old. It was a janet. album reboot with nothing to show for except a great promo tour. The fact that you won’t condemn Janet’s Damita jo album’s lazy theme speaks volumes. You’re delusional.

Im not saying you should hate the music. No. I still listen to it religiously to this day... but I’m not going to sit here and pretend Damita Jo is this amazing album that didn’t get the “attention it deserved”. The album got everything it deserved especially a bad critic score

First off, I'm comparing JALW to AFY because both had some sexual references and only one song got blacklisted. I'm gonna be clear: I also feel that AFY is better than JALW but the single deserved to be a bigger hit.

In terms of radio spins: I stated that some people on this site wrote that JALW was all over radio and was being played more than AFY.

Just take a look at Wikipedia. The JALW-page is full of sources claiming the upcoming success of the single when it leaked in January of 2004 and it was rushed to radio early February. You're not telling me that all these important media were completely wrong about the song. These people know what they talk about.

PLUS, JALW peaked at #3 or so in Canada. It was top 10 in several European countries and #1 in Japan for five weeks! How come the single was such a big success there yet YOU claim it got exactly what it deserved in the US? (Only peaking at #45)

  12. 10 hours ago, Rock & Roll Hall of Game said:

But it helped? :umm: Like idk... performing on NBC’s biggest show? Being the #1 Google search? :umm: Being everywhere BUT CBS & radio before streaming service and the cable decline took over.

There’s that fantasy word: “projected” It peaked so high on Billboard it’s not even worth talking about... I’m not here for fantasies. Reality is JALW was trash and so were the single choices.

Yet Again, you didn’t explain how Janet’s creativity was sabotaged (ie writing and production). How the quality of her music declined SHARPLY in 2004-08. I’m waiting on you to place the blame on her... but you refuse to.. as she kept on with the sexual lyrics with ZERO SUBSTANCE

A tv performance is not gonna make the masses buy your album or single. Your single needs to be on the radio everywhere, just like during the All For You era.

Btw, didn't people say here that JALW actually WAS on the radio everywhere until it got removed from the playlists? And that it was even being played more than when the All For You single came out? Yes, JALW is a non-typical Janet song but it was fun and it was perfect for that time (and apparently, radio felt the same way!).

And you want me to talk about how it was Janets fault... Okay. Let's be real here: Janet had sexual lyrics on the All For You single ("nice package", "ride it tonight"), yet it topped the chart for seven weeks. All For You is filled with sexual songs. Just like Damita Jo is filled with sexual songs. Thats why the single releases were the more innocent songs.💁🏻‍♂️She made sexual songs since '93. So, no I'm not blaming Janet or Jimmy or Terry for what they created.

  13. 2 hours ago, Rock & Roll Hall of Game said:

Okay.. we got that it was banned from all radio (Viacom owns most radio stations) but Janet was on television throughout the entire era

None of what you said proves that Janet’s music, the actual writing/producing, was compromised

My argument is Janet’s quality of music went down SHARPLY after AFY... You’re argument is about charts and radio.. those two arguments do not correlate

Again, tv appearances don't make big numbers of people buying your album and singles. Your music videos need to be on TV, the singles need to be on the radio. Regular people hear the music there on a daily basis, they like it, they buy it. Thats how it works.

Now, think about how JALW was projected to be a big success. If that single (despite of your personal opinions) and the next singles weren't blacklisted it were gonna be top ten hits for sure. The music was still good. The music fits perfect in 2004.
