  1. Michael K. Williams Has a Story You Need to Read to Believe

The Emmy-nominated actor from The Night Ofon The WireStar Wars, and how Janet Jackson changed his life.

In that case, it makes sense that Williams’s artistic awakening came courtesy of Janet Jackson.

In 1989, while in his early 20s, Williams had seemingly righted his career path. He had gotten the drug addiction that derailed his teens under control, and had a stable job managing blueprints for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. Then he saw the music video for Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation.”

“My spirit was stirred by the visual images that were shown . . . different people, some tall, some short, male, female, light-skinned, dark-skinned,” Williams told NPR last year. “It wasn’t just everybody was pretty with perfect teeth. You saw some jagged edges . . . and when they all came together, they moved like one.”

“The message of the song—about getting rid of color lines, not judging—I just identified with it across the board, and I was like, ‘I want to become a Janet Jackson background dancer,’” Williams has said. “‘I think she will understand me.’”

Williams quit his job managing someone else’s blueprints, and started drawing his own. He fired up his VHS player, recorded all of Jackson’s music videos, and watched them until he learned how to count steps. He calls himself “a hack,” but he mined a seven-year career dancing in music videos and on tours for Madonna,Missy Elliott, Crystal Waters, andGinuwine.

The informal education did have one early drawback: “A friend of mine challenged me to a Janet Jackson dance competition, and I made a complete ass out of myself because up until that moment I’d watch her, and I’d go the exact same way with her as the television,” he laughs. “When you’re dancing with her, you’ve got to go theopposite of the fucking TV.

He reps Janet all the time hopefully he can be in one of her videos this era. He's a great actor

  2. Just saw the seating chart. Those nose bleeds are kinda full. They can always close the curtains at the top and move everyone to lower level. It won't look bad at all and plus a lot of people like to get tickets last min anyway. It'll be fine. Live Nation not worried nor is Janet.

which show is that? The Lafayette show the whole floor is pretty much still full. And the bowl areas

  3. The parish of Lafayette has declared a state of emergency and a tornado warning, though it's out of Harvey's path.

Looks like heavy rainfall will occur in Lafayette, but the storm itself will be miles west. Public schools in the city will be closed today and Wednesday.

Being that some cities in that area are only 13 feet above sea level, there might be flooding in those areas. Lafayette is 36 feet above sea level and won't experience flooding hopefully.

Parts of Louisiana are expecting 15 to 20 inches of rain, so please send out love, well wishes, and donations. I pray that Janet and the team and fans and all of the residents of the area are safe! <3

This storm may save her from embarrassment because that show would have been cancelled anyway and she would have has to make up another excuse.  Vocals or whatever.  That seating chart is depressing.

  4. His commentary was not needed. Anybody who follows Teyana knows that she likes to pay respect and honor those who came before her and influenced her career. She doesn't have to be working an angle or an agenda to simply pay homage. I wish more people her age would innerStand that...I would go as far as saying that everybody at that damn award show should have been dressed up as Michael and Janet Jackson because without them MTV wouldn't have been able to keep the lights on.

he's sounds stupid. No one gives a shit about the style you created. It was about Janet and how she made it work.  Janet was making a statement for Michael with pervert and Texans was making a statement to the industry that she's underrated.  I love the message she posted too honoring Janet. I'm so sick of these messy queens in her camp.

  5. That scene with Sansa and Arya gave me life. I thought she was going to execute Arya then they flipped it on little finger.  Cersi has lost it. She's talking about saving her army to kill the northern army when she couldn't even kill her brothers for portraying her.

khalessi was extra as hell with her entrance in kings landing. Cersi's face was tight  :lmao:

  6. Some of those cities are like FLOODED and probably won't even be in condition for her to play in tbh.

Well that will be her excuse because the first show has not sold much.  I feel bad for the dancers.  I dont see this tour being completed.  I dont understand the no promo thing and why Live Nation doesn't demand she do more promo.

Doing well - Dallas, Albuquerque, Anaheim (seats were added), Seattle, Portland, Reno, Concord, Los Angeles, Saint Louis, Rosemont, Toledo, Boston, Providence (huge improvement), Bethlehem, Brooklyn, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Indianapolis, Columbus, Birmingham, Norfolk, Columbia, Atlanta

Improved since discount/sales - Little Rock, Fresno, Sacramento, Detroit, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Sunrise

Needs improvement - Lafayette (only about 50% sold), San Antonio (sales have stalled, seats need to be discounted), Tulsa, Phoenix (should’ve returned to Comerica Theater), Milwaukee (was doing fine, sales have stalled), Moline, Grand Rapids (only about 25% sold), Manchester (about 20-25% sold), Atlantic City, Newark, Louisville (needs discounts), Lexington, Memphis (about 1/3 sold), Nashville (should’ve done a smaller venue again), Jacksonville

No seating map available - Houston, Austin, Vancouver, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Denver, Kansas City, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Cleveland

Aside from postponements and no promo, I think over saturation may also be an issue. Some cities are too close to each other (southwest, midwest, and northeast). And some of the cities she's returning to need a smaller capacity.

The Groupon deal has been very helpful, but they have to also discount in certain markets that haven’t been selling well. The deal ends in 4 days.

Deals sold out - Baltimore (600 sold), San Diego (1000 sold), Denver (420 sold), Portland (580 sold)

Deals available - Toronto (720 sold), Houston (690 sold, lower level sold out), Phoenix (1000 sold), Nashville (1000 sold), Austin (670 sold), Rosemont (900 sold), Norfolk (870 sold), Pittsburgh (1000 sold), Seattle (310 sold), Lafayette (280 sold), San Antonio (650 sold), Dallas (450 sold), Little Rock (440 sold), Tulsa (280 sold), Fresno (350 sold), Vancouver (550 sold), Saint Louis (370 sold), Memphis (640 sold), Birmingham (180 sold), Moline (90 sold), Grand Rapids (860 sold), Indianapolis (930 sold), Louisville (340 sold), Lexington (180 sold), Toledo (100 sold), Manchester (440 sold), Philadelphia (580 sold), Buffalo (1000 sold)

This is not counting all the tickets floating around on stub hub and other third party sites.

  7. I'm sorry Beyonce does NOT come to mind when I saw the clip. I didn't know Beyonce owned the patent of standing in front of men wearing black. The reaching is real.

And some black people are doing the absolute most on Twitter. Everything is not centered around black vs. white... Ugh!

it looks like lemonade and I am not even a Beyoncé fan. The color tones, the stance and everything. And everything is centered around black and white unless you're white. That's what we call white privelege. Taylor has been gentrifying black culture for awhile now. It's nothing new.

  8. My opinion about this is obviously if indeed it comes to fruition I don't believe Janet would be openly bothered by this (privately may be a different issue), but it would again be another example of privilege that some in our society happily take part in...

...tbh I would look forward to the show, but even moreso to the pre-SB promo tour/interviews JT would be forced to give and what his answers would be to undoubtedly frequent questioning about his past actions (and Janet). That fact alone should give him pause about accepting the gig or not along with the other fact that if he did the SB it would the third fkn time for him, the Superbowlnhalftime show was made for Justine fkn Timberlake

he will be met with strong protest.  This Kapernick thing is getting bigger and race relations in the NFL and this country are getting worse. So he wil be a perfect target. A white boy trying to be black. While real black people are fighting the power.  Janet has a lot of support from the same people who support Kapernick.  And it's in Minneapolis where she has her own day names after her

Fuck him. He sits on his horse while his men die. He wants no parts of Jon snow.  I'm mad khalessi said Jon was too small for her.  She was ready to bust it open for him when he was laying in that bed

  10.

Embarrassing. She didn't have to sip the water like that :lmao: I am ready to go to the polls and vote today.   The one thing I do agree with Steven Bannon on is put 100% focus on the house and senate elections and just find someone with a pulse to run for president.  It doesnt matter who is in there if they dont have the majority in leadership you won't get anything done

  11. I say this with some reservation considering polls had Clinton winning, but a poll was done and 50% of respondents are embarrassed about Trump now. I dont know who they polled I just heard it tonight on NPR, whether they asked people who voted for him or what.

I think Hillary won and I think the polls were correct. I believe there was tampering at the polls and voter intimidation.  She ran a shit campaign but she destroyed him during those debates.

I do believe most of America are embarrassed and I don't think Trump has this huge following they keep talking about.  There was literally no one at that inauguration and that's unheard of.

  12. Barack is coming back to DC this fall to "help" the Democratic party ...in what capacity not sure

He cant come soon enough.  My veins are still popping out after listening to that clown at his press conference today.  Barack can help get the party in shape and give them some spunk.  I dont even know who is running in the midterms.  They are so focused on 2020.  If they dont control all or at least most of the house and senate it won't matter who is elected in 2020.

I hope the brogressives and bernie bots stay the hell out of the way.  We dont have time for their crying about corporate funds and wall street.  Bernie is not going to be president with his old ass so they need to let it go.  We cannot have the republican party anywhere near the oval in 2020.

  13. Smh. They knew this group was coming and they didn't even bother to send any law enforcement on the streets. You had a group of 8 or so students surrounded and beaten by these torch waving idiots and no one did a thing.

You wake up this morning and they are still terrorizing the streets.  You put a cardboard sign up at a black lives matter rally and you get tear gassed. These assholes were out here throwing glass and trash cans and nothing happened to them. AmeriKKKa

  14. WHAT? How is that even possible? The dancers outfits were 99999% cooler than Janet's... LOL
The Unbreakable Tour would've been 50% better if Janet traded outfits with Mishay or Dominique.
    Just saying...

I like Robert Behar's work. His vision is amazing!
Love the shoulders, the necks and geometric cuts *-*

i still can't believe she wore this. I hope she does an interview to explain what was going on here.  I still never understand the whole tribe thing and where it came from. Imagem relacionada

  15. that is part of the message Democrats must have, and that is we need to mobilize Black voters even when the candidate isn't Black. Gays will get out and vote :coffee:

That's why they are teasing a few black candidates but yeah I'm not sure how a white candidate can pump up the black base the way Obama did.

my blood just fucking boils, last week he came for the LGBT community this week the Trump administration will investigate discrimination against Whites in higher education because of race inclusive policies in admissions

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/01/politics/nyt-trump-administration-affirmative-action/index.html

If we can't get our black asses to the polls after this than we deserve whatever we get.  In Missouri they literally passed a Jim crow billed making the NAACP issue a travel warning for minorities.  Its insane.  And the LGBT and black community needs to find a way to work together.  Hispanics too.  Its like we all have our separate rallies and protest but we would be much stronger together.

  16. my issue right now is the field of Democrats is as wide open as the Republicans were in 2016, problem is Democrats have to step their game up to the "dirty" level Trump did, no matter what you think about Trump using race, economics, and bigotry to win, he still won :coffee:

it's already about 10 people potentially running which will be bad because they will spend their time tearing each other down during the primary debates which will make it harder for any of them to get elected.  And yes  they are too soft. Forget the when they go low we go high mess.  Everyone should start talking like Maxine Waters

  17. The third party candidates will always be a factor.

The message for the Democrats need to be solid and well-said coast to coast

I think this will be a repeat of voters fighting back against the green party the same way they did when Ralph Nader ran and Gore lost by like 2 votes.  People were over third parties during the next election.  You didn't hear a peep from them.  As the Trump saga continues and get worse I think people again will be more likely to fight against a third party candidate if it means they will split votes.

  18. Nope they didnt.....I still want to know the sand snake women get out somehow

she's going to have all types of strength to. Watching her daughter die. She is going to fuck some shit up. I hope she drops Cersi
