As for "Thriller" not hitting #1, I'd say it suffered from bad timing: A Halloween-themed single released in the middle of January, the video released way ahead of the physical single, and it was the last of the 7 singles. The fact that it reached #4 despite all that against it is still a good achievement.

As RN is indeed iconic - especially visually, I'll still go against the grain and show this future person TTWLG because it's too perfect to ignore.

Honestly Janet's albums are all instant with me, especially the fab 5 from Control to AFY ~ loved them all on first listen. With Damita Jo, I grew to love it even more over the years though.

I just discovered this last night. My only small quip is all the "down-da-da-down-da-down"'s but I can deal with it lol. Other than that it's a well-made R&B track + she has a nice voice.

I don't have kids but I can't say I blame him.

I only saw "Stacey Dash: Transgender People" and knew where this was going...

I don't care for Lemongrass (aside from "Freedom") but i'd still say it was a hit lol

You didn't hear Anti yet? You might love Love On The Brain
Yeah I haven't gotten around to it , but now that I've heard this song too I'll play the whole album soon. I like the retro Ben E. King-esque vibe.

Just submitted! 2003 was a heads and shoulders improvement over 2002 iyam. I handed out a lot more 8+ ratings this round

Janet doesn't seem concerned and neither am I. She already cemented her legendary status a while ago. Anything else she achieves at this point is a bonus.

I remember mistaking his voice for Nelly when I first heard it lol

Oh shoot, I got 55 hours left lol! I'll submit my votes tonight but I'll have to relisten to a some of these (a couple I never even heard before lol)

I do it all the time. I feel that giving props to good music is not condoning bad behavior. For example I listen to Kanye and Madonna, but I still side-eye their antics lol.
And sometimes it's not necessarily the artists, but also their overzealous fans - same rule applies here too lol.

Just discovered "Kiss It Better" the other day, and I actually really like it. I'm surprised it didn't catch on.

I think when the question is framed as "Do you have any relationship with Madonna whatsoever?", an honest straight-forward response "No, I don't know her." would've come across shady anyway lol. If anything, I'd say she was annoyed at the way the question was set up so she offered a compliment instead.
"...Can you?" was gold tho!

You're welcome lol. It's a well-made song and I won't take that away from him.
And I'm happy that "Work It" co-won! Really creative song containing one of the most iconic backmasks of all time lol
-
Yeah I guess that's true. We moved to the Bay Area right when the RWY Tour kicked off, and it was the 2nd date, so I really struck gold.

Interesting, two main artists who used to date tied

Tacky title indeed. I hope he'll recover.

Ooh this is a tough one, I love both! I'm leaning UB though, at least at the moment.

Of course! Even just an appearance at one of MJ's tour dates (and/or vice versa) would've been dope! I love the Super Bowl idea though. It would've been an event of epic historic proportions, and I'm sure it'd still help inspire the birth of YouTube too

Eh, I've never been a big fan of Ja, and it didn't help that I got so sick of that song at the time lol

Dang ain't nobody got time for the AI songs. I wasn't even aware "God Bless The USA" went top 5 (only briefly I assume lol). "Get Low" making the top 20 is mildly disturbing tho .
