  1. Based on that amount of time...I'd pass, or attempt to negotiate for a long playtime Nothing pisses me off more than a Greatest Hits album for a artist with 5+ albums & a large number of hits & over 20 years of work are narrowed down to 1 "20" (at most) GH CD lol, If it's not more than 1 disk I don't have use for it and feel like you can't really get enough of a feel of the artist. I only like that kind of GH when it like represents them at a certain career time or label

Yeah it was painful for me having to omit CBTM, Scream, and GTIG. That's why Number Ones is so great -- it's a solid overview of her catalog up to that point.

Yeah I know what you mean. Obviously for artists like Janet, Madonna, Whitney, Mariah etc... who have had multiple decades of hit singles and albums, a single disc GH is never going to be able to do them justice.

But sometimes it's nice having a single CD that showcases only the best of the best. For example, I personally prefer listening to Whitney's Ultimate Collection (which was a single disc release) than her 2-CD Greatest Hits set.

I kinda wish Whitney's Greatest Hits used the original versions instead of dance remixes (at least aside from "Its Not Right..." as its remix was more popular) At least I got the original albums though.

  2. A highlight for sure! It's crazy that it's almost a decade old now.

Haha, just realized I never put the song title in :lol:

    It's "Do It 2 Me" ^_^

I just thought you were testing us to see if we knew.

  3. It was on the ride to pre-school (lol) and "That's The Way Love Goes" came on the radio. It's one of the few radio songs that I remember the specific location where I first heard it. That's where it all started. Then I discovered the music videos (while also being fascinated by the fact that the music was on TV too lol) and saw what she looked like. Mesmerizing beauty, amazing music, unforgettable videos, then when I eventually heard the full CD, forgetaboutit ~ I was completely blown away.

  5. Awesome write up, Matt! Crazy enough, I seem to remember every song on the list - but I'll have to preview a few of them before I hit submit.

*edit* Just submitted my ratings after some careful deliberation with the voices in my head. :P

  6. Dang I look like a hater rating DRM an 8 lol. Good song, just not my favorite

Aw. Did Jan win all the previous games?

She didn't win 1995 but she won the majority.

For 2001, would you guys prefer to make it a Singles Rate for the whole game instead of a Survivor? That way we can score all the songs rather than just the final 10.

I'd be down for that. Each song gets a fair chance, and I think it'd be more efficient.

  7. janet is in the same league as RN and TVR to you???????????

Absolutely!!!!!!!!! It's my favorite and most-listened-to album from anyone, as well as the very reason I became a fan. I never tire of playing it no matter how much I listen, I love the diversity - not one song sounds like another yet I'd say it holds together, and the songs are among the best she's ever made. Even my least favorite song, I still enjoy more than least favorites on other albums. RN1814 and TVR are still classics, but I really go hard for the janet. album.

See that was my Holy Trinity for almost 10 years....before Unbreakable pushed TVR out. And from what I've seen janet. is in most Janfan's holy trinity as it should be.

UB wins it for me, janet. be trying to come for it now that it's months later, but no UB just owns my life right now.

Cool, one thing I really love about her albums is that they're more than just a collection of good songs, they're an experience - like a journey with her, and this definitely includes UB.

janet./RN1814/TVR remained my ultimate trinity for +15 years and to me they're just perfection and impossible for any album to outdo, so I think UB rising to become my 4th favorite is an excellent outcome to me.
