  1. Seriously. Dramatic much?  LOL

Id venture to say that Gaga has a "x factor" that not even her current peers have.  She's not a classic stunning beauty, tends to be a little awkward, but she damn well connected like no one has in a very long time, and has very much stayed an A-lister in demand even without a massive hit.  I think she's just a well-rounded talent born to entertain in multiple ways.  I actually predict a path for her more like Cher or Streisand.  She may not put out the most ground breaking albums as of late but she's more versatile than pretty much anyone else out there.  She will always be on the scene.

  2. The thing about Gaga is that she's loaded with talent, is incredibly smart and is (and has) a powerful voice in the entertainment industry. However, she consistently makes poor creative choices and an often shows a lack of ability to properly edit her work and make good production decisions.

Listening to Joanne against Unbreakable, for example, there is a stark difference in the quality of the lyrics and overall production in these projects.  Unbreakable is a multi-layered, well thought out, very well edited and pristinely produced piece of work.

Much of Gaga's album is just flat by comparison and unmoving. She often features only her lead vocal, and no harmonies and she too often randomly belts where it's really not suiting the song well. Overall it just seems empty and phoned in.  And I really hate that because I'm a total little monster and had high hopes that her teaming up with Ronson would be magical. It wasn't. :(

  3. Lemonade is amazing *-* and tells the story of my life on this past year LOL
Kanye's is great too... He's a scumbag guy but a kick ass artist!

Mr. Wonder is right.. I love Janet and I love Unbreakable, but the album is already aging on some musical aspects...
She lost her change last year, actually, don't think she was ever really interest on making it happen.

The thing is, the album was 'FOR US'. I don't think Janet will never release another album with a bunch of promo nor make history again.
She will keep doing only what she wants, when she wants and for her fans. Fuck the rest.

Hey, here's hoping.  If it means we get the quality work of Unbreakable, that's cool.

  4. I wouldn't be surprised to see the album nominated just because of it's artistry and quality.  This isn't necessarily a popularity contest like AMA's, Billboard, etc.  Sometimes very obscure songs/albums get nominated (and even win).

  5. It's very much like Classic Janet.. and it's a great follow up to AFY :shifty:

I appreciate Janet more for this album. The last three were shit in comparison

Agreed.  I feel like Janet lost her creative self between AFY and Unbreakable.  I don't know if she had a "mid-career" crisis and felt she needed to switch things up to stay relevant, but other people had too much influence on her creative (or lack of) decisions.  She's now come full circle with Unbreakable.

  6. its not dead at all, we are spread out.... there is not one single fan forum or board that everyone Janet goes to. As long as Janet isn't in the public eye, which she seems to not want to be, Janet fans have nothing to discuss that we haven't already. We are dealing with an artist whose peak is behind her, and as fans we wait eagerly for anything Janet related but those "things" "events" etc are becoming rarer...as soon as Janet comes out of "private as hell land" some Janet fans will comeback to speak.

I also believe its important to note that we are all getting older, I would say the average Janet fan is at least 30 seeing how she peaked in the 90's which was 20 years ago. My point being we got shit to do, lives to live, not saying we  love Janet any less, what I am saying is people move on, I stay because Im a diehard with no life  but I still love her, I always will. Ive said it before it would have been so much easier to have fallen for an artist that craves attention, I like Mariah Carey but I dont love her, but man it sure would be easier to follow her than Janet

Exactly.  I'm 38, and I was in 4th grade when I was obsessing over RN.  We are just too "adult" these days for a large segment of the fan base to be on message boards like us JJ freaks. LOL  And, like you said, the fact that she's so hidden these days doesn't allow a younger fan base to develop.

  7. This fascinates me to no end.  I could listen to this for another hour I think.  Their processes seem so authentic - I would love to just sit in the room with them quietly in the corner and watch them interact and create.  I really hope they continue the partnership in this same manner and create more great albums together.

  8. There isn't one song, not one, that I don't appreciate on this album. Each and every track is straight up quality, and the album flows beautifully from song to song keeping the listener engaged the entire way.  They don't make 'em like this anymore.  And you know, I have to say, if I'm ranking the albums as a WHOLE, I MIGHT even put this at number 1 simply because of what I stated above.  While other projects had many standout, memorable tracks, none of them allowed me to listen from beginning to end without wanting to skip a track here and there.

Well done, JJ, JJ and TL.
