  1. The more I listen to this song, the more I fall in love with it.  It's such an ear worm.  It's definitely one of the more pop radio-friendly tracks on the album. Who knows if pop radio will even play Janet at this point, but for some reason I can just imagine this potentially catching on and becoming at least a top 40 or top 20 mainstream hit.  It's nostalgic while still sounding very current.  Thoughts?

  2. I'd love to see a pic of Tina there.  I know it's been talked about and talked about, but she'll always be part of the Janet "Dream Team" to me, and I have always really wished she and Janet could forgive and move past the hurt to become friends, or at least friendLY, again.

  3. Welcome! Now make sure you're following Janet on twitter, facebook, and instagram and spread the love. Also make sure you have her digital album on Itunes so that way you get the awesome "No Sleeep" (AFSheen Remix) and then get the Target exclusive album with 2 bonus tracks that you can't get with the digital album. You have to get both because while the digital album doesn't have the bonus tracks the Target album doesn't have the "No Sleeep" remix

I'm way ahead of you. :D

  4. I actually love it. It's a fresh approach - she's letting the music speak for itself, and she's created an air of mystery and anticipation around her and the entire project.

Also, I think that her going out on tour BEFORE her album was even out was brilliant as well. It's kept a buzz around her. And now with all the great reviews coming in, people are even more curious.

For her to sell $100k+ with NO TV or print promotion and no Hot 100 presence is truly amazing.  Think about that- in her prime with the release of Velvet Rope, she only sold like 161k or something week one, and she promoted the hell outa that. Yes, AFY sold over 600k, but she also had a #1 single on the Hot 100 and great dance video on MTV when they still played videos.

I love what she's doing - she comes across as cool and confident in what she's offering up to the public.

  5. Hello all - I've been enjoying this forum as a "voyer" for a little while now, and since the release of this new incredible album, I've felt compelled to register and post.  I grew up on Janet, standing in front of the TV with my older sister when the "Pleasure Principle" video came out and then "Miss You Much," trying to learn all the dances right along with her.  It was 1989, when I was in 4th grade, that I became connected to Janet's music and unmatched performance abilities.  I was mesmerized by her.    It was summer before 9th grade that I learned the entire "If" video choreography (like many of you I'm sure) and thought i was the shit!  It was when I was a freshman in college that the Velvet Rope got me through my very difficult time coming out to my friends and family.

I've followed her faithfully ever since, and now in my mid 30's it brings tears to my eyes listening to this new album, especially to songs like "Well Traveled"  and "Shoulda Known Better."  That last line about a rhythm nation being the dream seriously chokes me up.  It's like I've (we've) been on this long journey with her over the last 30 years, and this new music brings everything full circle for us (for her too I'm sure).

This album brings pure joy to my soul, and I hope she feels the love and appreciation from her long-time fans because I don't think we could have asked for a more quality and meaningful piece of work from her.  Well done, Janet.  Brava!
