Agree. Disappointed, not participating, not caring... but I literally put it in my own head that it was gonna be bigger when I knew it wasn’t (no countdown clock)

We know her bday is in about a month something will be emerging soon.

  2. It definitely was the announcement lol in all fairness to Janet though, the only reason why people know & anticipated an announcement is because fans DEEPLY follow/monitor her team members.

Janet herself didn't play up a big announcement & then delivered this - this time.

BUT we all know music & performances are definitely coming. She's put a new team in place, she is keep her social media engagement consistent & current, she's also doing performance dates. So we'll see when that hits.

Question: is the song playing in the background a recognized remix by anyone or is it new?

it does sound kinda Janety tho...around 1998 - 2001 sound maybe? When was it recorded? I remember listening to a snippet before and not going back for more.

It was shortly after Velvet Rope because she had already sampled Big Yellow Taxi. So your years are right.

Um, everyone should know about this. I used to listen to it a lot.

Na. No one should know about this.

You sound like Gil tryna convince fans that pyro is on the outs lol.. pyro ain’t goin nowheres.. I didn’t say she needed stadium level fireworks but moreso even what she had on Unbreakable tour.. that opening concussion blast when BIU began would’ve sufficed on SOTW (should’ve exploded right when her silhouette appeared).. and like I said I loved the opening SOTW intro video with the controversial topics and all that, but once her tourbook pictures started to appear on and off I thought it was tacky

The percussion boom on UB tour could have worked for SOTW. Agreed. But, besides the Bruno show I haven't seen pyro be a heavy staple in many shows lately. Then again most big budget artists have done them in their past so maybe they've moved on.

I just see where visuals have dominated - like huge screens and major video themes etc.

I hope she finds away to be innovative with her performances, specifically visuals or staging, but I also get that her touring costs are different then the past.

Set list though - they can stay in the groove of SOTW tour. Keep blending in rarely performed hits - it's a better reminder of the epic ness of her career. Throw in FHTF, Go Deep, I Want You & just keep the crowd realizing - damn I forgot Janet sang that!

I fully agree with this regarding the Unbreakable Tour intro (black eagle)..

I also really liked the SOTW intro video clip but I didn’t like the video/intro once The Knowledge started playing.. I thought it was tacky af to have Janet’s face appear on the screens in and out right before she came out lookin dope af.. I liked how she appeared suddenly in silhouette on the ride side of the stage, but it was a missed opportunity to not have any pryo/blast when her silhouette popped up..

I can kinda see where you're coming from with the pictures of her, but that opening was epic! But as far as pyro, it can be a bit expensive & it's something she's probably won't really do anymore. Never say never, but unlikely.

Also arguably, pyro isn't as epic as it used to be unless on HUGE stadium stages or outdoors. Now the wave of performance is more so visuals. I think she did the best with visuals SOTW tour than she's done - idk MAYBE ever. I think the announcement will be something about the festivals & a stay tuned for new music. New music is coming very soon.

The NFL didn’t really crucify her.

“They” were CBS/Viacom and Janet’s creativity but okay ??

Either way, it shouldn’t happen bc Janet would have nothing to promote

The NFL has allowance in who they let perform, Justin coming back when he did should not have been allowed.

Her being the main/last headliner at so many festivals this year leads me to believe she’s potentially building back her non-fan/general public “credentials” as a path to getting her ass back on that Super Bowl 53 Halftime stage ??

Her doing super bowl IF it's her by herself, idk it just gives me VERY bad vibes. Honestly they let Justin back in the midst of a racially charged year & they had done her so wrong. They tried to crucify her. They don't deserve her to do business with them.

Yeah the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco altogether has attendances that can reach up to 200,000 bringing in 40,000-60,000 attendees a day. Either way Janet's gonna be peforming in front of stadium sized crowds.

Yea if she gets a crowd of nearly 60K & kills it she can get that cultural time stamp she deserves but I think the performance & music has to really POP and be engaging & memorable.

SOTW tour was amazing! It was also heavily a fan's tour which it SHOULD be but these festivals ESPECIALLY with her headlining - she has to grasp with performance & visuals. Simply because this is a very visual driven era of concert goers.

True! I was about to quote those same lyrics. Those are the exact parts where Janet is actually singing and not just talking lol. As far as rustic, Vibeology is saying songs like "The Great Forever", "Truth", "You Ain't Right", "You", and others.

A lot of those songs are really good songs but they're so heavily altered & fixed that they just don't count to me. I'm thinking of songs Janet can just sit & sing. Things she wouldn't need something to back her or alter her.

    Those songs are chants mostly.

she usually sings it in verses...id say stuff like Trust A Try, You, Lessons Learned, TGF, Like U Don't Love Me, Unbreakable even

Trust A Try & You are great songs but that choppy chant Janet should have ended with IF.

Those songs are also very highly produced with vocal effects. Now TGF, Like U Don't Love Me & UB maybe not but I just think those vocals is what discredits her as a singer. The attitudey thing is played unless it's done like Lemon with swag & kinda rapish but it discredits her abilities to me.

    The whimsical medley

YWT isn’t in the same category as AFY. She’s not singing in that

They are definitely in the same category. That's like saying she isn't singing because of the chorus it's more harmony.

In YWT it's a crescendo within the bridge into the choruses -

"Not anyone I'll just let in my heart you have to be hungry for me."

"Girls may have been easy boy you have to please me"

"what makes me think that I can say this to you, I know how bad you want this."

"one thing I've been told nothing else compares to this loving body"

OK I take that back...don't necessarily prefer it but I very much appreciate it.

Give me an example of rustic Janet vocals so I know what you mean.

True she definitely sounds best in her higher notes. TMA when she sings higher it's great. Especially when she goes to her "Take me awaaaaaaaaaaaaaay froooooooooom heeeeeeeeeeeeere"

    ??????

Yes I think so too. I just prefer Janet when she's actually singing. That's one of the things that highlights her older catalog so much. IGL, FHTF, Anytime Anyplace, You Want This, Because of Love, Escapade, LWNDWY, AFY, the bridge of Someone to Call My Love, Doesn't Really Matter,  Island Life etc.

I guess i'll vote for Take Me Away although I loooooooooooove the guitar riff at the end but during the verses Janet's voice sounds kinda rusty. Her vocals in 2 B Loved are on point. She still sounds young and fresh.

Yea Janet shines in her higher & falsetto notes. The others come off choppy & often inaudible. Her better performances are Dream Maker, No Sleeep bridge, Unbreakable chorus, Night, 2 B Loved the tracks where it sounds more singing than speaky or choppy.

Edit: to be fair I'll even say TMA chorus isn't bad either. I just don't like the choppy verses.
