The crowd did seem very dead on video but according to people there everyone was very into it. 

I think Skin Game is an ok opener it’s just not a fan favorite song, although I love it for many reasons, Skin Game is a good opener because it does multiple things:

shows how long she’s been making conscious music

reminds of conscious music beyond RN

Speaks to very real circumstances happening right now 

speaks for & to a community often ignored

Maybe she could have kept The Knowledge & then put Skin Game in after but I LOVE she’s changing the whole scope.

I’ve always liked Skin Game because it has these hidden lyrics of her reciting famous revolutionaries under the beat. She says Marcus Garvey & Huey Newton…I have much respect for that. I’m very eager to see what the ballads will be. And surprised she hasn’t started doing some of the new stuff. 

Essence could have been a perfect crowd for some of that & a roll out.

The point I was making is every time there’s a chance to shade MJ or any family member besides Eissa, Game takes it. 

As if MJ’s mouth was ever any worse than Janet. So the “kids” are not out of place & the shock of their mouth from Janet fans whoever the original was that noticed it - is either hypocritical or very short sided to forget the way Janet spoke for years. 

Listen to an album pre Unbreakable. Listen to interviews with her around her friends. I’m just saying

I think they have slight features that favor like he might develop the Jackson eyes but he more so makes some expressions like her. I’m waiting for a fan to do a side by side of pictures where they look alike. 

Dammn Baby was ok to me, I liked a few parts of it. I think the vocal alteration of it makes it a bit “eh” live but I do like it. 

Her switching up the set list is probably the best move she’s made touring wise in years. I’d love to see her bring back FHTF - she’s done it on one tour & ignored it too long. 

Ive always said she has classics & Staples she has to perform but she NEEDS to keep audiences guessing about what they’ll get from her long list of hits. She has too many songs to give the same set list.

No Janet was about womanhood, freedom, & discovery or emergence of sexuality. 

DJ was about love & her finding it again after marriage that hurt her deeply & a love unlike those she’s been known for. By that time, Janet had become known for what she delivered on DJ - love songs. 

Only thing she could have done at that time was fight back against what she was going through in a raw way. For whatever reason she didn’t.
