Nah, I think Janet should try to stay out of it. The estate seems to have enough power to handle things on its own.

The estate does have the power to do something about this, but they've shown themselves to be kinda lazy about these things.

It’s no disrespect to Janet literally none, but Janet didn’t just “abandon” her international fans. She had to build herself back up amongst the international base - especially to do a large scale arena tour. Now we might see, & MAYBE could have always, seen her do “hot spots”.

A couple dates in London, do MAYBE Paris. Hit Japan if she can. Janet would love to have the international dollar as much as the American dollar but I don’t believe the sales were really there.

I think Janet can do Japan with little worries. She has neglected that territory but she didn't cancel on them like she did Europe for the Unbreakable Tour. Didn't her Japan dates in 2015 do reasonably well?

Really wish she released more singles last era! “No Sleeep” was actually a pretty lush and well directed video despite me HATING it at first!

”Dammn Baby” was probably the most generic dance video of her career. Great choreography but lackluster visuals of them! “Dammn Baby” didn’t come alive for me until I saw it live on “SOTW1”.

“Shoulda Known Better” would have been a powerful visual and political statement after the Pulse night club shooting that year. I know she did a lyrical video for it but would have like to have seen a proper video.

Not to mention, “Night” not being a single?!? ??

we can all blame Wissam for this short lived comeback era! ??

Dammn Baby's choreography was terrible IMO. The video was so underwhelming that I started to dislike the song after having seen it. I don't think that's ever happened to me before.

  4. I don't understand the hype behind Would You Mind. Other than its instrumental, it is such a cringe worthy track along with its performance. It doesn't compare to Janet's other sexual/sensual tracks like Rope Burn, ATAP, Anything, SIT, or FHTF. The lyrics are extremely vulgar and I think that actually makes the song quite boring. It's much better when Janet sets up a scene with her sensual tracks. "I never even got to cum... did you?" is nowhere near as sexy to me as the ending of FHTF with Janet not knowing where the time went and telling someone to stop in between instrumental pauses. Leaving things to the imagination can be so much sexier tbh.

Would You Mind and Love Scene fit right in with Miguel and The Weeknd. Then you have When We Ooo that fits in with the whole "tropical" rnb movement.

Is being paired up with The Weeknd a good thing? ?

Who would have thought considering that Janet is a local sensation...

Anywho, sis is slaying these icon awards. So happy we get to see her again. She really is spoiling us...love it!

I think that Janet might be "local" everywhere. It would explain why everyone has her name in their mouths. I love that her global influence is being confirmed with this reward.

Lol @ “janet has a terrible relationship with her father but not in public” as if she’s really going to have a big massive picture of him in a music video just to save face. These writers need a slap or Jesus or something

    !!!

As if Janet didn't rush off to Brazil to check up on Joe after his heart attack in 2015. They just say anything.

A lot of fans love Slolove honestly. I think Jimmy & Terry gave Janet her signature sound. MOST big artists have producers they build signature sounds with. BUT imo Damita Jo was a great album. Also I think there are some solid Janet moments post Jimmy & Terry.

For example - Roll Witchu is in the top tracks from Janet for me. I like Luv, I liked Luv 2 Luv, Take Care, I like Thinking About My Ex, I like Island Life, I like What Can I Say. Actually a lot of those I love.

The only thing about some of the musical moves with Janet might be them (whoever the producer is) trying too hard to keep a Jackson sound instead of just making great music. Janet & Pharrell are looooong overdue. I am really interested to see how fans take the new music. Also Unbreakable was critically received but to me that can be taken with a grain of salt. Not saying the album wasn’t good it’s just critics...are not always giving an authentic opinion

Wasn't Pharrell going to be on the 20 YO album until JD or someone else scrapped his stuff and went in another direction? Pharrell and Janet should have done something ages ago (2000-08), but he's still popular and makes bops so I wouldn't be opposed to a track now.

I think the main problem with Damita Jo, 20 YO and Discipline has less to do with the fact that she was working with different people, and more to do with her lack of input, inspiration and the amount of different people she worked with at once. If Janet decided to have JJ/TL, Babyface and, say, Pharrell produce Damita Jo, and she had something more interesting to talk about, I think we would have still gotten great stuff on par with her classics. I think a smaller team works well with Janet's artistic process.

I notice anything with Cardi B gets airplay, so there's that ....as for Janet the best thing she can do is continue to release well crafted songs that are written by her and let that speak for itself, "Unbreakable" was a breath of fresh air and very Janet ....Im hoping she's got something the fans are going to love

Well, J. Lo did a song with Cardi and performed it at the BB awards in May. I haven't heard it since and I don't think it's made a dent on the charts.

  9. I hope Janet got to say her final goodbyes. I've seen a lot of negative comments coming from Twitter and it's just unnecessary (especially when some are repeating false claims made by La Toya in the 90s).

RIP. My sympathies extend to the family.

State of the world was a really dope period of time. Excellent show, probably the best tour set list & even performances in a while. But this here is like living in the moment. It’s made for now, it’s different. It’s a new era for sure.

    What a nice coincidence. :D

Janet wrote this song with/for LaToya, did the demo & backgrounds. Its told that Janet teaching Toy how to sing a song is what got her noticed by her father to be a singer, I suspect this is the song. The timing matches up (released in 81, same year Janet got signed)

And Janet did background vocals for this hot mess of a song I love and is 1 of Toya's best. Note about this performance, Janets singing background, Rene is dancing background & they met on this trip... (Janet is shown in the clip briefly). Its always funny that Janet can mimic Toy perfectly (talking and singing) like I can only tell which is Janet cause shes the 1 in key :lmao: but all 3 of the sisters have a very similar  tone in their highest register.

I did not expect to like Camp Kuchi Kaiai the way that I did. Those high notes were not it though...

  12. I liked that she placed When We Ooo in Nasty for the fans at home. I'm angry that the camera moved away from Janet during the "If" breakdown, which was the most intense part of the performance's choreography. The "Throb" breakdown needed work as I didn't care for the air drumming.

I really wish she gave us a 10 minute performance. It all went by so fast. She got the biggest honour, but had one of the shortest performances. Why did Christina and Demi's performance feel longer? Billboard should have given her more time tbh.
