I haven't been happy with Obama thus far.
But Sarah Palin wouldn't win against him if she were to run. Right now she's in the PERFECT situation: she can spout her nonsense and she's not held responsible for anything. She can't do that if she's actually running for President. As much as people are annoyed with Obama, they also know she's a blathering idiot. The country is not yet ready to go that extreme. And I can't vote for someone who's that ignorant. Hell if the Republicans had regular Republicans running for the Senate in certain states (Delaware and Nevada to name a few), they probably would be having control of the Senate. Hell, Sarah can't even promote her own handpicked candidate in her HOME state to win. A freaking write in is about to win.
My biggest issue with Obama is that he comes across as a spineless Democrat. The minute the Republicans start to whine, he bends over backwards trying to come to some sort of compromise. Newsflash: the Republicans are never going to give you your due. I saw this comment on a blog and I thought it highlighted it perfectly:
Obama 1: 2 + 2 = 4
GOP/Tea Party: Not at all, 2 + 2 = 5 (decibel high, repetition higher)
Obama 2: Actually, I'm open to 2 + 2 = 4.5 (supporters roll eyes; there he goes again)
GOP/Tea Party: No way, 2 + 2 has to be 5 because the Bible and Milton Friedman said so
Obama 3: You know, I and many Serious People believe that 2 + 2 = 4.9. See, we've reached a compromise.
GOP/Tea Party: Socialist! Kenyan muslim! Socialist! (decibel even higher)
Wash, rinse, repeat.
He's coming across as a manager, and not a leader. And what we need now is a leader.
And if he caves in on the tax cuts, God help him.
