  3. the reaction to her death by other celebrities r heart warming... • “I am deeply saddened personally for the loss of my dear friend Donna Summer. She and I have been friends for a very long time, we were both known as the ’Queen of Disco,’ but Donna always referred to me as the ”First Lady of Disco.’ A fine lady and human being she was. She will be missed dearly by her colleagues, friends and family. She not only made her mark in my heart as well as others, but she forever changed the way … America danced and enjoyed themselves. She may have had her ’Last Dance’ here on earth, but ’Heaven Knows’ it is “dancing with joy for her arrival.” - Gloria Gaynor in a statement. • “She was so young and vibrant. Donna and I knew each other for a long time, we ran in the same circles and are part of the same generation, and it was something we shared … creating and performing music. Her voice was smooth and comforting, and something I had always wanted to do was a world tour with her, you know, as the Queen and King of Disco. We are the freshman class in creating music that continues to this day to make people happy, and it has been embraced by every major artist in the industry. It makes you want to get up and dance and forget your troubles for awhile. We just saw each other several months ago – she was beautiful as ever and her voice as strong as when I met her and we had some great laughs and a stroll down memory lane.” - Harry Wayne “KC” Casey of KC & The Sunshine Band in a statement. • “When you lose a friend you feel like they are gone forever … that is not true with my dear friend Donna. She was a queen, THE Queen of disco, and we will be dancing to her music forever. My thoughts and prayers are with her family always.” - Liza Minnelli in a statement. • “I can’t believe we’ve lost another wonderful singer. Donna, like Whitney (Houston), had one of the greatest voices ever. I loved her records. She was the disco queen, and will remain so. I knew her and found her to be one of the most likable and fun people ever. She will be missed and remembered.” - Dolly Parton in a statement. • “Five-time Grammy winner Donna Summer had a dynamic voice and unique musical style that helped define the dance music genre in the ’70s. She also was an artist who crossed many musical genres, as evidenced by her Grammy wins in the R&B, rock, inspirational and dance categories. Her talent was a true gift to the music industry, and our thoughts and sympathies are with her family, friends and fans throughout the world during this difficult time.” - Neil Portnow, president of The Recording Academy on Facebook. • “We will miss Donna Summer! Thanks for the joy & exuberance of dancing. Armin van Buuren: "RIP Donna Summer Queen of Disco. You were a great inspiration. Still so young..." Duran Duran‘s Nick Rhodes wrote a blog post about Donna and the effect her music had on his band: I just heard the very sad news that Donna Summer has passed away. For me, there is no doubt that her song ‘I Feel Love’ had a dramatic effect on modern music. It was certainly a key influence on my work with Duran Duran. Together with producer Giorgio Moroder, Donna pioneered the use of electronic sequencers in dance music. Today that sound that seems so familiar, but in 1977, it was a brave new frontier. It’s extremely rare that you hear one song that completely changes the way you perceive music. “I Feel Love” achieved that. Elton John spoke to E! News, saying, “I’m so sad. This woman was the queen of disco and so much more. Her records sound as good today as they ever did. That she has never been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a total disgrace, especially when I see the second-rate talent that has been inducted. She is a great friend to me and to the Elton John AIDS Foundation and I will miss her greatly.”‪ Gloria Estefan: “Few singers have impacted music & the world like Donna Summer! It’s the end of an era. Peace & prayers 2 all who loved her. I will miss her!” Rihanna: “RIP #dearDonna” Goldfrapp: “On the M4 to London & just heard on the radio that Donna Summer has died….so sad, so young & such a legend…sweet dreams Donna x” La Roux: “This cannot be happening……. Please tell me that I’m dreaming that Donna Summer has died????!!! Please no…. Morified…What a disco legend. ‘I Feel Love’ is going on LOUD right now let’s all do the same and remember who made us love and dance.” Robyn: “Donna Summer RIP I FEEL LOVE FOR YOU” Boys II Men: “It’s unfortunate that we have to say goodbye to another amazing talent. Donna Summer, Queen of Disco, our condolences to her family!” Bananarama: “RIP Donna Summer – we grew up listening to those disco tunes.” Boy George: “Very sad news, about Donna Summer. R.I.P!” Nile Rodgers: “For the last half hour or so I’ve been lying in my bed crying and stunned. Donna Summer RIP.” Little Boots: “Oh my goodness just heard the sad news about Donna Summer. A true diva and disco queen her music will keep people dancing forever xxx” Adam Lambert: “RIP Donna Summer. glorious disco Goddess.” Madonna: "RIP Donna Summer" posted future lovers on her twitter as it was inspired by i feel love Bruce Springsteen payed tribute tonight in Barcelona playing Last dance moby ‏@thelittleidiot very. very sad. donna summer has died. words can't express the impact and influence she had on music.
  4. Thank you ... I guess it was no secret how much i loved this woman... it's hitting me harder by the second, i just really can't believe it... I guess the extreme weight loss had to do with this... But she looked so damn good a few months ago. Barbra Streisand responded saying how vital and full of life she seemed when the last met at the Foster wedding. But she already knew she had long cancer for 6 months there... Do you think she knew there was nothing to be done anymore? this was just 6 months ago...
  5. i don't think it has hit me yet... I just woke up getting all these messages and didn't know how to react i'm in shock to know i will never hear her sing anything new ever again... god i just wanna cry not Donna.........
  6. as you all know, Donna was my Star... There was no voice in the world that could touch me the way hers did. Her humble attitude did her no favors when it came to being in the spotlight.. She liked to be in the background, she didn't oversing her songs just to show off her voice.. Sometimes i wish she did, cause now she will be remembered as the queen of disco and not the amazing singer she really was. She died to early... I always hoped she would sing that one song on a big show where everyone would be blown away and see a total different side of her, one i have been seeing since the beginning. She always said, i will sing till my last breath and she did. Her last performance was at the David Foster wedding a couple of months ago and although she looked amazing you could see in her eyes there was something wrong. I even have more respect for her now for not making her cancer public and trying to finish that album before she died. She really was just an ordinary girl... I'm crushed by this news.... God how i will miss her voice Rest in peace my Queen... and thank you for enriching my life with that beautiful voice and your amazing music.
  7. this is getting ridiculous.... how something so innocent as this post can turn into a diva battle and then between Kylie and Janet .of all people.. i don't wanna get into facts and stuff, but to think Janet is a bigger act then Kylie outside the US is pretty ridiculous. I love Janet but let's stay real here. half empty arena's (there were a few shows that sold really badly for her standarts (like 60 to 70% of it's capacity) but still with an average of €100 a ticket... this tour didn't do as great as the other tours, fact, but it still was a huge success nonetheless... she still played for 700k people and she still get's the biggest budgets to do these (25 million for her last stage is something only the biggest touring acts get and for female acts they can be counted on one hand trust me... and wasn't this Kylie's 5th huge tour in 10 years? Hell, even her first 'low budget' mini US tour during X was specially created for the US and was a complete new show and it still had a pretty amazing budget... but when was the last time Janet released an album that reached top 10 in 20 countries? when did Janet get her own H&M collection? Kylie got 2...they don't do stuff like that if she's only popular in a few countries..(and don't tell me it's not something Janet would do cause she's to classy for that... she's promoting a diet now) - wasn't Kylie knighted or something in France for her contribution to popular culture? Kylie might be a nobody in the US, but don't underestimate her status outside... and her price ticket... cause she doesn't come out to play for under a million either... For someone who's celebrating 25 years in music and to be still this relevant is not just because she's popular in the UK and Australia... When Janet get's budget's like these to tour we'll talk again... (ps: i love Janet, this really is no stab at her)
  8. such a cute pic... And they do have a lot in common... Starting out as teen actresses (Janet in 77 and Kylie in 79) That's some long ass careers...
  9. What i was saying.. and trying to explain it as simple as i can.... Kylie was also 'just' attending and not announced as a performer. It was a surprise performance... u know, a surprise... Something you get on your birthday or find in your bed when you arrive home a little early But it's sweet that you still live in that make believe world where Janet get's payed 7 figures to sing one song. Is that the same world where Britney is known as a great live singer and Mariah a trained hip hop dancer?
  10. well sorry..... Kylie wasn't performing either last year and ended up on stage singing 2 songs with Sharon Stone... Was that posted as well on the Janet forum
  11. how cool would that be Alec Baldwin, Kylie Minogue and Janet Jackson are to support a gala dinner and auction at the Cannes Film Festival to raise money for Aids research. The annual event, held by the American Foundation for Aids Research (Amfar), was passionately supported by the late actress Elizabeth Taylor. Baldwin, who stars in the hit comedy 30 Rock, is among the celebrity "co-chairs" for the night on 24 May. Amfar has raised more then $70m (£44m) since launching in Cannes in 1993. The non-profit organisation is dedicated to supporting Aids research and HIV prevention and education. Other co-chairs at the Cinema Against Aids event will include The Artist's Oscar-winning director Michel Hazanavicius and leading lady Berenice Bejo. Actress Milla Jovovich, designer Karl Lagerfeld, film producer Harvey Weinstein and Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai will also take part. Stars will be expected to dig deep during a live auction and runway show. Five years ago, Kylie Minogue performed some of her hit singles at the event alongside actress Sharon Stone. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-18059332
  12. I Loves these ... Aretha: Rihanna, Don't listen to 'Beonmywaytojailforplagiarismsay'
  13. good... so sex will get boring fast.... people will get more creative.... in other words we will get better sex - no strings (but probably a lot of other goodies) attached doesn't sound too bad to me
  14. the whistle noises are so fake tho.... and i've seen others performing there and they sounded just fine
  15. flawless from beginning to end! well, it really is one of the best superhero movies ever made. Joss Whedon is a god imo... His timing for humor, drama and action is unmatched! There are moments in there that the audience just laugh out loud, but not in a slapstick way u know what i mean? It's flawless from beginning to end and the special effects are amazing. Best hulk ever! they made him fucking scary! This will finally put's Whedon up there with the great! I wanna see Buffy again now
  16. mine too... it's great and has SIA written all over it.... Great video too imo... minimal but very effective but wait... I don't care for Christina
  17. she should have used the same strategy in her actual biggest market ( sales/amount of people) The album did debut at 1 but with just 56000 copies sold... That is really really low in comparisment... Kylie's Aphrodite (her lesser hit album) sold 80000 copies first week...and that's one of her lowest selling albums
  18. and he just came up with it today while talking to his friend.... there's absolutely no science about it
  19. eeey!!! it's a Dutch film and we're proud of it..... or embarrassed anyway... It's Dutch so watch your mouth!!
  20. what was she in GMAYL? How many video's is it now? Madonna dancing in front of a wall... (with some get outta my way video projections.... lol) She really is addicted to that... In the last video the director didnt' plan for a wall dance, but Madonna insisted it was in the video... The video looks good, but very Gay minded.. correction.. very gay and i think the general public is getting bored of a 52 yo calling herself girl all the time and acting like a total whore... The Gay fanclub already pre-ordered the album.... so who is she making this video for?
  21. be careful with those (or any diet without proteïns) yes you will lose a lot of weight... 80% of it will be water and muscle tissue the second you start eating normal again, your body will work on recovery first... your water balance will be balanced again and muscle tissue repaired... Carbs will be stored from the first bite and you will gain weight in water and muscles and you will gain extra weight in your fat mass... you will have a higher fat mass after then with what you started
  22. well.... Here's my story i've always been the skinny guy and whatever i do i won't gain a gram even if i eat 3 meals a day... i was the same weight since my 14th..... never gaining, but easily losing ... Annoying!!! I started working out a few years ago... went 4 times a week, ate 3 meals a day and drank shakes in between... After 6 months i gained 3 kilo's (not sure how much that is in pounds) but it was major for me... then i got sick for a week and lost 5 kilo's... so i gave up Last Summer i went on holiday in Tel aviv... the city of amazing body's and everytime we went to the beach i was the skinniest guy and my friend the fattest... So we made a pact to go back next Summer for gay pride (already booked my tickets) and to get in shape and have a killer body when we get back... lol So, i got back, got loads of supplements, started this diet again but now differently and more educated and go to the gym 5 times a week... it's been 4 months now and i thought it could never happen, but i actually gained 6 kilo's and ly body is starting to look really good... and this time it feels permanent (i don't think i will lose all of i get sick or something) so yeah... I'm pretty chuffed and pretty amazed that (even at my age) you can still get a good body.... so this is me after 4 months
