  1. I didn't initially care for Slo Love either but I love it now.
  2. From the tracks we've heard that did not make the album - the unreleased we have, is there much of a difference in your opinion?
  3. Now this I can understand but let's also keep the time table in perspective. Super Bowl was February, and had EVERY intention on being the promo start for DJ which was released a month later. DJ was already done. She already had that direction & that's where she was at the time. I believe she COULD have fought back but avoided it and her back was against the wall but the timetable she didn't really have time to do that. The album was done.
  4. I'm not counting interludes as "staple tracks" I'm showing how the interludes - like they always had were the thread of the theme. "How empty of me to be so full of you", "We're in a race between education & catastrophe", "To a world sick with racism get well soon", "You know you want me" Each of those interludes were threading between tracks. They showed the theme, direction, insight of creative thought, deliberate concept of tracks & album. Janet has had multiple songs that mention sex throughout the years but I don't consider them sexual songs. AFY is about being single & independent & guys fear to approach but she talks about him having a nice package to ride. You're willfully missing the concept by watering the tracks down. Janet was LITERALLY creating that album in honeymoon phase with her & JD. From island hopping to fucking continuously she was back in love. You just didn't like what she felt at that time. Now what could be argued is she avoided the heat and didn't fight back against what she was facing. So she came out with an album diverting the attention but nonetheless most of the album was already done. It came out in March so it shows you where she was before the fiasco.
  5. I agree about Discipline. 20YO literally was a contractual obligation she was trying to fulfill. She gave the label something so she could be done. I disagree with DJ - you can't say she had something to say including sexuality & vulnerability - then say DJ she had nothing to say when it was an expansion on those topics based on her current position in life. Vulnerability - Looking for Love, The One, Spending Time With You, Truly, My Baby, Thinking Bout My Ex, Slo Love Sexuality - Strawberry Bounce, Sexihibition, Warmth Damita Jo title track was about you guys think you've known Janet up to this point but there's more to the story.
  6. Honestly, I think DJ had a very easy to read theme & it literally was a representation of her life at the time. She had JUST went public with JD & they had been dating in honeymoon phase for a while - their entire relationship became REAL while on an island vacation together. Which is why the album predominantly sounds like it's rooted on an island. He was introducing/influencing new sides of herself i.e. Atlanta's strip club culture - which introduced us to Strawberry Bounce. The whole album talks about love in a very new found way...those many characters reference was a direct correlation to the fact of her being her FULL self at the time in this new relationship. It sounds personally like AFY without the independence of being single. The only songs I'm not crazy about are LYDLM & ANDS - which gets a pass because I love the choreography & like to see it performed live but the song has always been kinda eh. Lastly, it has some great ballads IWY & TBME, and ummm Janet & JD both are major fans of oral which has always been rumored (from multiple women he's been with) to be something he's great at - which is why the sex tracks were centered around oral. The song not only had theme it was relevant to where she was.
  7. There was no concept to Discipline. There were just songs & to make it SEEM like there was a concept she basically would use the definition of discipline to sell it. I don't think the album was bad though but it didn't have a concept
  8. I like Island Life more personally too, and I kinda get what you're saying but STCML has a lot of life and energy in it. The Island Life performance live sounds very good but the highlight moments vocally she doesn't really go into.
  9. Oh lol sorry - it's quite possible it'll happen again. So when she does it'll be interesting to see if it's in Atlanta & it'll be dope if Atlanta gets both with Scream. Atlanta is going to be an epic show.
  10. Knowing that she might do STCML instead of IL makes me happy I went to the Dallas show so I can catch both of them if she does it in Atlanta. This is really dope.
  11. I got sooooo hype when I saw this!!! I've wanted her to do that for awhile. I also am praying one day she does Because of Love again. And that's the point I have ALWAYS made & said - this tour Janet literally has listened & proven me very right. Switching it up gives fans an element of surprise that is very major. It also adds the "live" trust in your show. Never knowing what to expect. All I can say is - Atlanta is about to be very epic! I hope a lot of you are there.
  12. I don't know that I trust this & although it's decent it feels very dated & George Michael. I'd like to see Janet head in a different directions. I'd LOVE to see Janet tackle a vibe as big as Lemon. I always wanted to see her actually get something that moves with Pharrell. I know they did Ruff but something that makes the album and hits!
  13. It sounds to me that they've compiled rumors over the months that have come out & then embellished them. Rumor that Janet & JD are back together, and then Janet's ppl responding that they're just friends. JD is posting how she stole his look flirtingly. Then Randy claiming she was abused and felt like a prisoner so they add that with fluff around it. It just seems too detailed, like one poster said, & it seems random that they would be the source. I did laugh when they said - Janet called JD so Wissam could hear her do it lol, I could envision that. Not that I'm saying it's true at all, but beyond the glitz & glam Janet is human & she's a woman who knows men. Janet also VERY MUCH so has an attitude side that can be intense. It's part of what I love about her - "a little lady, a whole lot of class, but do me wrong I'll get in that ass."
  14. Damn I want to see full body. She really looks like Ertha Kitt. This is dope!
  15. Honestly, I highly doubt Janet would touch the NFL again especially not now in the midst of the all the racial angst and tension. IF she ever were to do it, it damn sure doesn't need to be on a stage with Justin Timberlake. She should never share another stage with him. As far as the Super Bowl if the NFL wasn't so consumed in their bigotry - I wouldn't be mad at her for doing it. But fuck them, they helped ruin her career & made her have to rebuild damn all over again. I wouldn't allow them to dictate whether or not she's worthy.
  16. nah I don't think that has anything to do with her voice we were just all kinda tired of it being the go to ballad. It's been out for 24 years and it's the first time she hasn't performed it. I'm seriously cool with that.
  17. I know Gil had been trying to get her to come out that shell. There's a lot of things she's done on this tour that has made it one of her best tours. She's never been so direct as her opening is - it's actually chilling when you watch it. The sound bites are direct and epic. Her performing nonsingles FINALLY gives that mystique to her shows that I've always talked about - nearly EVERY fan wants to see her explore her catalog. Gil knows that. His pulse with the fans is solid & this might be his best creative direction so far IMO. Fans fall in love with your catalog not just your singles. Matter of fact, less with singles. This tour shows her versatility musically & it also reminds people she's been more than a sex symbol. It's the most successful pull off of "classic me with a modern twist" this is what it was always supposed to look like. It's very purposeful that she's leaned into her most nostalgic & iconic look.
  18. The lingerie line would have been brilliant for Janet. She has countless song titles that could have marketed her line: 24Play Collection, Escapade, My Need, Anytime Anyplace etc. From a marketing standpoint that would have been an excellent graduation for a "sex symbol" like Janet. While the rest of the industry was busy doing fragrances. She during that time could have even modeled some pieces. Until she was over it. Often times embracing your "embarrassing" moment can give you power over it where you would capitalize. A line called Pleasure Principle fucking great. Ask just about any woman & they would be all for it especially if it's comfortable.
  19. Yea because she has new things coming from music to visuals. So she's not doing that for nothing.
  20. There's no pissing match at all, the proof is in the pictures & the BET performance where Ciara was selected. Nonetheless, fans are often very rude & shady. Janet doesn't speak on MANY artists, yet she shows respect. Either way, we don't know who Janet speaks to personally. She's private.
  21. "There's more than enough room out here for all of us." - Janet Jackson on other artists. Its not worthy of a debate. Take your L humbly and move the fuck on. Janet continues to prove you wrong & your self righteous fan credibility is falling a part. Shut up & enjoy the ride.
